background and audience needs A study about children in circumstances especially difficult in the Dominican Republic realized by the population research institute IEPD and Unicef, revealed that 45,386 under different ages and sex are in this situation. The sad thing is that the country’s juvenile prisons are hostel by mostly orphaned children and homeless who have tended to seek support in the wrong way. As Dominican Bible Society we have had the opportunity to visit the juvenile Prisons and these children expressed that they would give everything to go back in time and not have committed the crime they did. The majority of them lack one of their parent and others of both parent, which indicates that the lack of orientation, instruction, education, love and parental care causes in many cases the existence of child without good formation and this can involve them in criminal acts, or in the drugs usage, among other things. In the way to Bible Society, a teenager involved in drug addiction approached me as reading my vehicle “sticker” “Dominican
Bible Society” . He said he was ashamed of his actual situation. The way he looked at me was heartbreaking, (he grabbed his hair since it was uncombed and dirty) and he said to me that he didn’t have a parent to care of him. He felt out casted. At that moment we spoke a little and I gave him some coins and he said “Thank you Mom” and everytime I pass by that area, he greets me with the same expression “Good bye Mom”. Also, God gave us the opportunity to visit the home of orphaned girls, and it was of great blessing bring some biblical portions and share with them a beautiful afternoon. We will like to develop this project, to reach our children who need of the heavenly Father. This outreach is included in our main goal for our strategic plan so that each person we get in contact with would not only know of God, but know him intimately and know his Word, despite their limitations.

Project summary In the Dominican Republic there are about 120,500 orphaned children approximately, lacking parental love and care. The figure is even more critical when dealing with the absence of a parent, since it rises to 580,781 children. These children are raised without guidance from a parent. In the midst of their loss the Bible Society wants to give them hope through God’s word and a Christian outlook on life.Currently there are 11 orphanages properly registered in our country. We want to reach to 5,000 orphans with a copy of the Word of God and provided the parental love of God, which can fill the void that has caused the lack of parents, hoping that their lives are marked and transformed by Jesus.
Research According to statistics, in our country there are 120, 500 orphans approximately, 50,000 orphaned children caused by HIV and 850 children were orphaned by femicide in the last 3 years. The figure is even more critical in the case of lack of only one parent, since i trises to 580,781 children, which represents 18% of the infant population of the country, according the American report about the situation of the childhood without parental careor in risk of losing them in Latin America.

Pray for orphaned children living on the streets so they can accept and attend our special invitation. Pray that God’s Word do its special effect and fill the void that these children fell for the lack of parental love and care. Pray for each orphan child, so they feel that God is their father, and the Lord will protect the place where they are.
lesson learnt With this project I learned to be grateful for the little I have, and the special legacy that my parents gave me: Introduce me to Jesus. It’s incredible to see when I´m going to the Bible Society, how many people are under the bridge of 27 de Febrero Ave., sleeping in pieces of cardboard and wrapped up with other piece of cardboard. They don’t have anything, and in many cases already are immersed in drugs and have damaged minds. How many children begging on the traffic lights to eat something.

Project summary Violence has spread worldwide, not excluding the Dominican Republic. Most of these acts of violence continue to occur without being part of official statistics; and has become customs or routine practices. Of concern is the number of children and women victims of violence, despite the criminalization of acts of violence described in Law No. 24-97 on intrafamily violence, also in the Law No. 136-03. We need to raise population awareness not to engage in violence. We need to alert children of this evil, and denounce it, we need to be help and support the women shattered by this sad reality. Our Bible Society feel compelled to meet this urgent need to provide children, woman and men during three years, the Bible, and portion of help to get out of this situation. With this project we will provide bibles and portions for 15,000 children, 6000 woman and 3000 men of Santo Domingo, in 3 years.
Research According to the Attorney General’s Office of the Dominican Republic, in its report on femicide in the country from January to September 2013 there were 128 femicides, which equates to an impressive approximate of 15 murders of women monthly. More clearly, 1 woman is killed every 2 days. Violence against children and women do not have any form of justification and must be eradicated from its roots, in order to guarantee the right of every person to be free from violence. An investigation conducted by Dr. Rene Acosta, Family Therapist Psychologist in the Sector of Los Alcarrizos showed that high percentages of households (44%) suffer violence, including Christian homes; that women experience physical violence, sexual and moral violence, mild, moderate and severe violence. 82% of respondents claimed they were beaten, dragged, and were pushed. 27% of respondents were gunshot wounds. 18% were bound with electrical wires. 27% of women surveyed were forced by their partners to have anal sex. Another research studies brought devastating results in terms of violence against children, child abuse, sexual abuse. According statistics, in Dominican Republic there are 2,672,089 students in schools. 1,936,161 basic level, of 5-13 years old and 735,928 in high schools, 14-17 years old. The public schools are 356, and privates 351. The publics schools have class three times in the day, with a registration approximately of 1500 students each time.

IMPACT We hope that society be made aware of the damage produced by violence and hope the same is reduced. We hope that the children we treat can be prevented and never in their lives be part of statistics on violence. We hope to encourage Bible reading and approaching God in homes and in schools, to have peace of God. We hope to help women who are suffering violence get out of that routine of life.
On March 8, International Women’s Day, we will conduct a campaign at traffic lights on non-violence against women, where women will be painted with bumps and bruises to eyes and we will have downpipes and Banners that encourage peace, and non-Violence against Women. We will Develop a special program to hand over the portions on non-violence in schools. This material will focus on sexual abuse against children, in order to warn of it, and if any are in an abusive situation, tell them what to do and guide them towards the institutions that are responsible for these cases. We will follow up in the use of it, when we develop the program Bible school Week, where we visit the schools during that all week beginning Monday and ending Friday with an explanation of everything the student have learned; We will performe a meeting of parents with consent of the college or school to present the topic, and this way to give parents the portions, and bibles.

Project summary One out of five young Christians surveyed in a poll conducted in evangelical churches of Santo Domingo, have not read the complete gospels, 3 out of five have not read the entire New Testament, and 4 out of 5, have not read the Bible complete. The Bible calls the youths “strong , and really in the youths is located the vigor. Unfortunately this vigor is being reflected only physically, because spiritually, young people are weak and need much help. Incredibly, our country being the only one that has on the center of its flag, a Bible, and having two laws in our constitution that promote the Bible; we are living a critical situation where there has been a draft law proposed to allow marriage between same-sex couples. Young people shown activist groups in favor of these aberrations, since the values have been lost in our society, and therefore is the great need for the new generation rising in our churches, can be grounded, well- founded in the Word of God, to share with others the gospel of Christ. Pastors of different confraternities have approached us, asking us for discipleship materials and Bible study for the growth of their young. The interaction of youths with the word of God is one of the objectives that we are pursuing as Bible Society. We want to develop this project with youths, carrying a youth club, where they can interact with the Word and grow spiritually. Organizing activities appropriate for the study and distribution of the Bible, retreats, groups in facebook, and in the social networks in general, with interactive biblical themes. Besides using the web these studies will be realized for cells formed in churches, where once a week a theme will be broken down. We will produce a specialized youth material. It will be a printed portion with several topics of study. Our Bible Society feel compelled to meet this urgent need to provide 15,000 young people (5000 each year) a portion and a Bible to study the Word of God.
Research According to the census conducted in (2010), The Dominican Republic has about 10 million inhabitants, of which about 3 million are concentrated in the city of Santo Domingo. Dominican youth population (15-35 years) currently represents approximately 36% of the total population, about 3,600,000 young people. Evangelical churches are formed by people of all ages, we want to reach our youths and help them become more profound

background and audience needs Last year we were doing this project in Puerto Plata (Province)and in the neighborhood of Capotillo. In the development of the program in the neighborhood of Capotillo, a lady arrived with a knife, saying that her husband using that weapon was going to kill her days ago, and today she was delivering this weapon to receive a Bible. Glory to God! Others claimed that the weapon delivered had docked several people, but that they wouldn´t do this anymore. A man give, what he consider a weapon that was destroying his body for years: A bottle of Rum. And asked them to pray for him, no longer wanted to drink more alcoholic beverages, he wanted to be accepted by his family and accepted Jesus as his savoir. Others arrived with his weapons, and expressed: I give my weapon and my soul, praise the Lord! it was beautiful! The provinces of Maria Trinida Sanchez
and La Romana have experienced a major increase in their rate of criminality, to the point that the prosecutor of this town has been attacked. The Dominican Bible Society has been developing projects of prevention, working with the children, teenagers, and youth, and we have had very good results with the youth we have worked with. The sad reality is that jails each day are getting fuller, because of so many crimes and offense caused by the use of homemade weapons and dangerous firearms. In most of the cases, illegal weapons without any record og owners are used. We intedt to launch a campaign where we promote the bible. and we encourage the yout to exchange harmful weapons to a Bible. Our strategic plan includes the implementation of projects of distribution, with the purpose of encourage and promote the experience of the sacred Scriptures.

Project summary The delinquency is taking over the streets of Dominican Republic, we only wach and listen to tragic news: Four teenagers shot a police officer, and left him lying on the pavement, girl of 9 years old killed her sister of 12 years old with her father weapon, bussines man commits suicide with a shot in the mouh. It is sad to see haw our society vanishes for the hate and the evil, accompanied to the use of firearms and white weapons. The chief of the police department in Puerto Plata, approached our bible committee, of this place, expressing his concern of making a call to the nation, where we will give bibles in exchange for their weapons, to heal a little bit currents of criminality that have been raising in our days. This year, our partners have been very motivated by this proyect, and the need still vital which drives the Bible Society to want to continue to present to project in other areas. This time in La Romana and Maria Trinidad Sanchez (Nagua), were we have Bible Commitees, and in the next years in another place of the country. lesson learnt During the development of this project, in other places we have seen how God has worked powerfully, as several people surrendered their weapons and accepted Jesus as their savior. When we came to the places, people spread terror and terror, with guns, with their faces and strong looks, however, changed when Bibles for weapons, everything changed .was shocking to see offenders with Bibles in their hands, and very happy. A young man was so shocked that appeared the next day after trading his gun for a Bible in the Church of God in the neighbourhood of Capotillo, well dressed, shaved, trimmed and with his Bible in hand. All were surprised spiritual and physical change that God worked on that life through theproject.
