We talk a lot about diversity, minorities, equality... but in reality, nothing has changed. I wear FEMALE as a badge of honour because I know that still have so much to do and that his change is very far to be a fact and the path is going to be hard As Kalpana Chawla (an Indian born American astronaut and engineer who was the first woman of Indian origin to go to space) said: "The path from dreams to success does exist May you have the vision to find it, the courage to get on to it, and the perseverance to follow it "
The debate is open in the wild and has turned viral on social media a couple of times in the past two years I totally get it and I agree on so many levels BUT Statistically, women are still underrepresented in the tech and startup ecosystem And pos Covid we are expecting to see even worse numbers from stats and reality, just google quickly and check reports from all around the world that shows local and global numbers.
I know that the hot topic now is WHY we call ourselves Female Tech Leader if I am JUST a Tech Leader (or a founder) .... why should I put myself in this box, why should I use a label like that, why should I devalue myself and add a female if everyone knows I am a female...

AMNA USMAN CHAUDHRY
Graduatelevellecturer,Financial EconomistturnedBlockchain, MetaverseandWeb3.0Strategist.
Tell us about you and your career and business!
I have been passionately involved in the blockchain space before it went mainstream and was a member of the first cohort of the Oxford Blockchain Strategy Program by the University of Oxford. In 2018, I was a founding member of BlockClean, a blockchain project based in Slovenia aimed at reducing plastic pollution through tokenization. I am also a founding member of the Oxford Blockchain Foundation, a 190+ member organization spread across the globe. I hold an MSc. in Financial Economics from the UK and have graduate teaching experience in both London and Dubai along with Economic research experience on a World Bank project. I am a Blockchain, Metaverse and Web 3.0 strategist, advising some exciting upcoming projects and also the Head of Research and Innovation at All Stars Women NFT Club and DAO along with heading its UAE Chapter. I hold a CIMA diploma in Islamic Finance so I understand how blockchain can affect both fintech and Islamic fintech. Islamic Finance was worth a staggering $2.8 trillion in 2019, and has been growing rapidly ever since I am very interested in frontier technologies such as IoT, AI, robotics and especially blockchain, which is the underlying technology upon which cryptocurrencies, DeFi, NFTs and the Metaverse are based. I hope to soft launch a project based on the metaverse in the near future in a way that aligns with my values of DEI I have been attending various blockchain related events since 2018 and am honored to have spoken at/been invited to speak at these events also such as at the iconic Museum of the Future in Dubai. I am passionate about improving women's representation in blockchain, metaverse and Web 3.0 as well as diversity and inclusion in Web 3.0 as a whole. I always do my best to share my knowledge with others because education is the first step towards more adoption of Web 3.0 and thus a more inclusive and diverse foundation for the future digital economy. Foundingmemberofthe OxfordBlockchainFoundation
According to the Gender Social Norms Index (GSNI) by the UNDP, a staggering 90% of men and women both hold some sort of bias against women. These biases show up in all aspects of women's lives. When it comes to technology, the tech barrier could be an issue so education is very important
Traditionally technology has been male-dominated and women need to be encouraged to join this sector because they belong here also and are very much needed in technology.
I am traditionally a financial economist and around 2016 I started hearing a lot about fintech. Since it was an extension of my field, I researched it and from there I came across the blockchain. The potential of blockchain technology really inspired me. I went on to be part of the first cohort of the prestigious University of Oxford's blockchain strategy programme, and have been passionately involved with blockchain since, along with its evolution into NFTs, DeFi, Metaverse and Web 3.0.
How did you get into the Blockchain technology sector?
Amna Usman Chaudhry
What advice would you give to a woman considering a career in your industry or what you wish to know before starting your career/business?
Overcoming the tech barrier is the first step we all need to take. Start experimenting with the different aspects of blockchain such as NFTs, DeFi and metaverse. Always do your own research before taking any investment decision. Learn through trial and error. Feel free to reach out to the Web 3.0 community for help and support. As you go on in this journey, encourage other women also to join you in the Web 3.0 space
Do you notice a lack of women in technology?
Women, regardless of what sector they work in, do have to deal with the subconscious biases that society, unfortunately, holds against them, as I mentioned previously. They are also usually expected to bear more of the household responsibility, so considering the covid pandemic which included homeschooling of children while working, there were real cases of mental health taking a toll and burnout happening in women around the world. Apart from that, women also face the 'glass ceiling' when it comes to leadership roles and lower salaries than men despite having similar education and experience. In technology, there have in the past been fewer women and more of a male-dominated space, so women who work in the tech sector may feel out of place at times.
Do you think that women in technology careers face different challenges than men do?
Please start with educating yourself about Web 3.0.
If so, why do you think that’s the case?
I agree with the research of the International Labor Organization which revealed that the main obstacle women face in the workplace is trying to balance work and family life. Women also have a harder time finding work compared to men, have to deal with many stereotypes (I wrote a whole article on this on my LinkedIn) and once in the job, have to deal with the glass ceiling when it comes to leadership roles.
There are so many amazing women in the tech space.
If you look historically, one that comes to mind is Hedy Lamarr, who developed a radio guidance system for torpedoes using frequency hopping technology during the Second World War. She was also a successful Hollywood actress and I am inspired by not just how brilliant she was but also how she balanced two very different worlds with success in both! In today's world, I look up to Sheryl Sandberg, who has an economics background like mine, and later she went into tech, eventually becoming the COO of Facebook/Meta. She is also the founder of LeanIn.org, a platform that I have immense respect for due to its focus on supporting women and empowering them.
In your opinion, what is the biggest obstacle for women to succeed in the workplace/business?
Provide women with educational and training resources so they are motivated to join the tech space. Companies should be open to remote or at least hybrid working environments for women who may worry about safety on long commutes or want to better balance family and work.
What do you think companies can do to encourage more women to choose careers in tech and rectify the imbalance?
Companies can start by providing opportunities such as internships, mentorships and even returnships for women who may have taken some time off for various reasons such as focusing on their young children.
All companies, including tech, need to consciously encourage more women into the workplace and set goals to bring women into the workspace and leadership roles.
Who are your role models for women in tech?
Possibly offer childcare services at the office since expensive childcare is a reason some women may leave work. It is important to have a fair maternal leave policy. It is also vital to pay women the equal salary that they pay men for the same level of education and experience. Investing in women will always pay off, as a recent report by McKinsey states that women managers are more supportive and empathic leaders that help companies improve and grow.
Would you like to share some thoughts on how you’ve balanced your personal life with work? This balancing act is a work in progress :) How do you find inspiration in your life? I genuinely believe in the potential of blockchain, metaverse and the Web 3.0 space. If you look at the bigger picture and the long term, it is really inspiring on how we can use these frontier technologies as transformational tools for good and together change our world for the better. Apart from that, on a personal level, I also enjoy writing poetry and painting, though I don't get much time for that now. What's your favourite quote? As a former fashion magazine editor and advertising executive, my skill set provides a perfect balance for the growing crypto, blockchain, Metaverse and NFT industries. My 10+ years of experience in media position me perfectly for the Web3 sector as I utilize innovative strategies and my creative spirit, helping lead the way for the future of the industry

Creative Director and CEO Cointelegraph Communications
I have been Creative Director and CEO at Cointelegraph Communications for over three years. I am a consultant and speaker for all things blockchain. At Cointelegraph, I have built NFT campaigns for brands and scaled some of the largest crypto, NFT and blockchain media companies in the industry. I have extensive experience in developing startups along the full life cycle from initial idea to team growth, and through to mission execution for the next new venture.
Despite tremendous progress in women’s participation across industries, business is still largely in the hands of men. It seems to me that the situation will change in the near future, because women confidently occupy leading positions and achieve great heights today, showing that the world is coming to a new era. Looking forward to seeing it and being part of it.
Do you think there is a diversity issue in the tech sector? How the lack of women in technology has affected you?
We live at an intersection of realities: Web3 is taking over our minds and lives, while most people still do not understand what it is. The most important challenge is bringing them all to this new world that we are so carefully created for new generations. It is the new generation that will have to set new rules of the game because now it is clear that the world we lived in before is already completely different and can no longer exist by the old rules.
As you learn to become a leader, how do you also gain more confidence?
What’s a leadership lesson that you’ve learnt that’s unique to being a female leader? Being a female leader while retaining the best feminine qualities, such as empathy, kindness and compassion. Business is often cruel and pushes us to conceal emotion. I would like to see more bright and real people around me because I want to develop myself along with them My advice is to be yourself, no matter what What do you think are the main challenges and opportunities for the next generation of women leaders?
Are there any particular women in tech who have inspired you?
I admire every woman who gets on stage and speaks her mind in our industry, changing the world with her presence. You can single out a lot of women. I admire each of them, but I want to note my colleagues in particular, with whom I work hand in hand and whose diligence I never cease to admire Kristina Lucrezia, our Editor in Chief and Rachel Wolfson, our Senior Editor at Cointelegraph.
Confidence is a quality acquired and trained like muscles at the gym. Leaders can also be anxious and scared, but the responsibility of being a role model for society and taking accountability for words spoken make up a large burden that you need to be careful with.

“Just because we do bad things, doesn’t mean we are bad people.” I don’t know who exactly said it, but it serves as a good reminder that I am, after all, only human.
Do you recall any biases or assumptions made about you? We live in a world augmented by social media, where everyone draws conclusions from the pictures they see. Of course, various rumours do reach me. I reacted strongly to some of them at first, but then I learned to let go, because the higher you climb the social ladder, the more you’ll encounter unfounded statements about yourself. Anyway, there is no time to even read them, let alone worry about them.

CESLIE ARMSTRONG
My career expanded to radio, podcasting, television, music industry, streaming, and speaking engagements. So here we are in "Web3" and my interest and studies in compression technologies are still relevant. I created OnChain Media+Entertainment to harness the power and voices of women and provide a community, programming platforms, and opportunities to create meaningful content to tell the stories through photography, art, audio, video, and film that matter to women and are about women. Our mandate is that 83% of what we do focuses on women. Why? Because women earn 83 cents on the dollar compared to men yet women have the buying power of 83%. We are striving toward financial and personal sovereignty by creating premium content of value. Smart contract technologies are a powerful tool to achieve this goal.
OnChain Media+Entertainment CEO, Executive Producer
My career in Media & Entertainment began as a writer in women's fashion magazines (national print glossies) during the emergence of Web 1.0 and when Web 2.0 began to develop in the late 90s. I was hooked. I could see this new global technology's potential impact on content distribution. My Mom was in tech in the 60s and 70s (unheard of!) and she had a huge influence on me so I've always had one foot on the creative side and the other in tech. In 2001 I created a website based on a national print magazine and within a few months, we had thousands of women sign up. I saw the opportunity to create a national conversation of women's voices via tech tools and grow that audience into a movement using meaningful content to drive engagement and growth. They just needed a leader to help get them there. I never looked back. We are doing that now with our OnChain Media+Entertainment Members Salon.
Tell us about your background and your journey, focusing on the challenges and the decisions you’ve made to get where you are today.
My professional career really began in the 90s and it was filled with scenarios that defined me as someone who doesn’t compromise ethically and just keeps going. I have many stories that now, would end men's careers. In fact, I've had discouraging scenarios over the last few years (even recently) But, the power of choice to quit, keep going, give up, or forge ahead to make change remained constant. No matter how tough things are, I always tell women that the choice they make in handling a discouraging situation can define and impact them for the rest of their lives. That's an extraordinary power we possess. When things are bad, it's hard to stay focused and make the right choice and this is something we need to support each other in accomplishing.
Have you ever been in a situation where you have felt discouraged to pursue your career as a woman? How did you handle it?
The lack of women in the technology sector is a fact. Why do you think/opinion about this tendency? This is a very complex situation; however, it is also a natural extension and progression that mimics most industries. At the base level, the cause begins at home and in communities. What are the influences and stories that little girls and young women receive? The same scenario then extends to the education system and beyond. There are also systemic generational reasons that men overwhelmingly occupy the C-suite level. Women are making some strides in breaking that glass ceiling but now we must break through the marble ceiling into the board rooms. My hope is that blockchain technologies create egalitarian opportunities for entrepreneurial women to start up and create incredible companies, organizations, brands, and most importantly: self sovereign wealth. What do you suggest the tech industry could do to encourage more women to choose tech and make it more attractive improving the lack of balance in the industry? I see a lot of effort and real traction happening recently with more tech-focused women owned and managed funds. I truly believe that those women have enormous opportunities to effect change in a short amount of time through the choices they make. My main philanthropic focus is education for girls. There are fine organizations like Girls, Inc., Girls Who Code, and the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media that are changing the narrative internally and externally for and about girls. It's been one foot in front of the other and will take time but I do believe the decentralization of society is underway as hyperconnectivity is here
What do you wish to know before starting your career/business in tech?
When product development shifted and tools emerged as services for businesses and everyday life, it was and continues to be an inspiring time. I do wish I knew that the people funding and building those tools would have such a lack of interest or realization of the value of premium engaging content. I’ve been quoted many times and continue to do speaking engagements about my mantra: Content drives engagement. Content drives decision-making. Content drives revenue. The tech may change but well deployed premium original content remains a superpower.
Who are your role models for women in tech?
My first woman role model in tech was my mother who in the 60s and 70s was one of the only women in the industry. In fact, she trained most of her male bosses and they rose through the organizations while she remained stagnant. It was an incredible real time lesson for me to experience in my youth. There are many women now who I admire whose names may not be bold-faced but are the ones making change. They are scientists, educators, manufacturers, and inventors. They make rocket ships. They ride in rocket ships. They write the code and guide the rocket ship. Then they rush home to feed their families, pay the bills, and tell their daughters they can grow up to be in tech too. They are role models for me.
A network is the sum of its parts. I am constantly curating my network. The power of a network is its give and take. It is a living breathing entity and should always be treated with respect. Also professional and personal networks take time and attention. I see a trend recently in women signing up for too many and then don’t participate That’s not a good look. It’s important the networks are defined with a specific purpose. What is success to you? When pulling up the covers at night and replaying the day's events, a successful day to me is feeling that I have grown that day; facilitated growth in others; and, built value. If I can have one subtle or giant positive impact on someone else's life or an organization each day, then I am successful.
Ten years from now: future of technology. What are your thoughts and wishes for the next age of internet and technology?
Facing the biggest obstacles to succeed in the workplace/business: what is your advice to face the challenge? Drink a lot of water, get enough sleep, and then face challenges straight on and stay focused on what matters Be kind and a calm and intent listener Focused listening is also a superpower. Care about your team, be present in the moments, and own your mistakes. Practice lifelong learning and stay curious. What role do you think ‘network’ has in empowering a woman in her tech journey and important is your network?
In ten years, I hope that kindness has scaled 1000X over anger, hatred, caste systems, and the fear of others. The state of hyper-connectivity we are now experiencing has the power to bring great minds together who can constantly reimagine, build, and activate quality of life systems through technologies; however, that kind of thought and innovation takes a mind that is clear of anger and hatred that creates chaos and peril. I believe that women will have a huge impact on achieving this kind of decentralized world. Leave your favourite phrase. Don't be afraid, do your best and do it now.

My name is Kema, I am a proud managing partner and co-founder at SINOFY Group which is WEB 3 Agency with a VC component.
My professional story began in China where I studied and worked in the Chinese Conglomerate for 10 years roaming across East Asia and CIS and raised through the ladder until the pandemic hit, and did hit hard enough that I could not move out of Russia back in late 2019. It was technically impossible to work remotely due to the nature of my work, dealing with China based factories and strict travelling rules that were imposed by countries, that is when I was introduced to the world of WEB 3 and joined SINOFY as a Communications associate in charge of East Asia SINOFY has 3 components: PR/Marketing, Fundraising and Software Development, each service is complimentary to the other and designed to help our portfolio companies, partners and clients to achieve their goals. WEB 3.0 is an industry that keeps me excited to wake up at 6 AM the morning, and the promise of the industry has educated me about new opportunities and possibilities.

Do you think there is a diversity issue in the tech sector? How the lack of women in technology has affected you?
Can you introduce yourself and tell us about your career /business please?
The Tech sector is primarily dominated and run by men, in both, well developed and developing countries, based on my observation I could only witness the rise of Women and their participation in the tech industry that is good news, and yet many more need to be motivated, coached, assisted, and rewarded, the road ahead is quite long, and yet, the process of welcoming women to the industry had started that makes me happy and keeps motivating me. SINOFY has given me endless opportunities to unleash my talents, and improve my skillset and various circumstances gave me the opportunity to be nominated to lead the team and join as a Co Founder. Managing Partner and Cofounder at SINOFY
This is just the beginning, while juggling balls between SINOFY and Offchain, I started consulting Gaming and Metaverse companies regarding their east Asia strategies given my deep understanding of culture and languages, more than that, this is another great opportunity to put myself into no turning back position and educate myself in WEB 3 while generating additional income and acquiring new skills that will definitely come in handy.
Strategy is my new favourite new word, I tend to spend more time thinking than acting or outsourcing, there are so many factors that are out of our control, be it market conditions, new regulations, dealing with an unsatisfied client, partner, developing bridges with new partners and so on, mapping out all the solutions with my team is our weekly routine work and exciting one, one of the daily activities we do a lot of work optimizing/automating operations using existing tools to increase our productivity while working with clients and contractors, prospects and more.
Leading the Istanbul chapter from the scratch, putting together a team of 10 and successfully organizing the first successful meetup that was endorsed publicly to run it again on monthly basis.

I recently became a managing partner and Co-Founder, as a decision maker and coowner of the company it comes with enormous responsibility and an entirely different attitude, I am no longer a simple employee, in fact, I am learning how to think on my feet while dealing with dozens of new avenues, let me share some of them that occur on daily/weekly basis.
Taking risks and going the extra mile as long as you have support, helps to gain the required confidence, recently I have become the founder of Offchain Istanbul which is a part of Offchain Global, the largest crypto community worldwide, in a nutshell, consisting of 50 chapters globally and regionally, 30+ countries, 70+Global Partners 100.000 attendees, followers, and fans.
Clear communications and dealing with cultural diversity is another component that I work hard every day to pay very close attention to when working in a multi-cultured environment. The list is long, but what I shared above are core and foundational layers that I am involved in to improve our team, increase our productivity have skin in the game speak 12 languages with teams and partners in more than 20 countries and count.

Since taking on the SINOFY Cofounding role I am ensuring to empower next generation females and give them a chance to practise their leadership, creativity and making tough decisions.
What advice and tips would you give to women who want a career in tech?
Hesitate and you lose. What are your plans for the next five years?
Kema Bae
What’s a leadership lesson that you’ve learnt that’s unique to being a female leader?
Tough question and a hard one to answer, one of the priorities is investing capital in self-education, exploring more projects in WEB 3 0, raising capital or at least helping to raise capital for our portfolio companies and making use of opportunities that arise on the horizon. www.femaletechleaders.com
What do you think are the main challenges and opportunities for the next generation of women leaders?
One thing that makes me happy is that women are connecting with one another and creating alliances, supporting thru multiple programs, VC, Grants, and more, and yet, the acceptance of females in leadership positions, especially in emerging or conservative countries would be quite challenging, however, the access to technology and internet opens many doors, by providing initial support and coaching, everything else is available online, including youtube, this is how I was lucky enough to educate myself, grow, get promoted and make some noise.
Being compassionate and listening are 2 major lessons that is teaching me to become an emotionally intelligent leader and solve emerging issues/crises proactively, not reactively.
Yes, I don't come from a wealthy family, I am Asian looking and non-commanding, I would always start either as an intern or as a simple administrative associate, obviously, the perception that people would have that I am easily replaceable, and yet, challenging status quo, senior management and taking a leap of faith would empower me to show that I was also capable of bringing more value.
With my partners, we started RADIAN initially as a centralized dating app, then a decentralized dating app, and now a decentralized protocol. One of the reasons was that we saw many so called “decentralized” projects that did not truly deliver on their claims and were actually very centralized We think that Web3.0 is all about sharing and collaborating with your online friends which leads us to develop an open-source protocol, one such feature is a drag and drop zero code web application editor that allows anyone to build dApps, with the aim of increasing the rate of crypto adoption.
At Bento Works, I started receiving orders from blockchain and NFT projects It's true that chances are for people who are prepared. I met my current partners in the process of completing the projects for these blockchain technology companies.
Working in tech, I have seen many unstructured websites and unfinished products, which ignited my drive to start my own IT solution company. In the meantime, I started self learning blockchain technology and crypto news by reading project decks and whitepapers.
Tell us about you and your career and business!
Being an honoured guest speaker for HKU to raise awareness and support for the adoption of blockchain technology has been one of my most proud moments, hoping to continue being a passionate leader and pioneer in the space!
I have never thought of myself being an entrepreneur, with my first venture opening a cake shop. With the knowledge and experience acquired from working as an owner of a business, I then moved onto work in product development in a Fintech company and then founded an IT solution company - Bento Works focusing on NFT and blockchain projects
JOANNE FUNG Co-founder and COO RADIAN Protocol
Joanne Fung What's your favourite quote?
The statistics show that men gravitate towards STEM majors, and in due process, the hiring pool for female talent in the industry is already skewed.
I notice the lack of women in tech, but the issue arises not from the ratio between males and females in the workforce, but from the discrimination, bias, and bullying that women feel at work because of their gender.
"You never lose in business, either you win or you learn."
The tech industry is huge. I have encountered my fair share of women taking the lead in higher-ranking positions at tech companies. I think generalizing the job market for such an industry may lead to polarized takes and emotions. I assume the majority of people that read this question the first time immediately thought of the typical male programmer but in reality, the tech industry encompasses so much more than just coding.
How did you get into the technology sector?
I found the experience meaningful as we had to look for issues and pain points and to come up with clever ways to solve them. I did not expect myself to become a tech woman after graduating even though I majored in a tech field. I thought my career would always be in UI/UX, but it’s due to my innate passion for technology that I made the choices that have led to where I am now. I see the good side in technology, believing it to be a vital player in the development of the human race in the bigger picture Do you notice a lack of women in technology? If so, why do you think that’s the case?
Melinda Emerson
This issue can be fixed if there is increased support infrastructure and education in place to mediate the tension that such an imbalance brings to the workplace.
I majored in interactive art and technology at Simon Fraser University, and in the process of doing so, learned that it's our responsibility to build something that helps people. Thanks to SFU, I learned to program VR games, dealing with the sensors required for such games.
Do you think that women in technology careers face different challenges than men do?
I would say to women out there considering a career in tech: speak for yourself, do not be afraid to stand your ground on your own opinion, but remain humble at the same time. Being a woman in tech can be an advantage, it’s all about how you're positioning yourself and using your power. To be completely honest, I think the biggest limiting factor is the self imposed mindset that most women give themselves. If you are good at what you do, flaunt it, and capitalize on your success Who are your role models for women in tech? This might sound like a cliche answer, but my number one role model and the woman who influenced me the most is my mom. She was the one who always had the right answers to problems I faced growing up, a superwoman in my eyes. From sharing her business adventures to now teaching me to be a kindhearted person with upstanding morals. My mom does not take up the traditional roles of the woman in the household, she isn't a typical mom that cooks, bakes, and does housework.
There is definitely a biased preference in hiring patterns at tech companies. There have been studies showing that hiring managers tend to gravitate toward potential recruits that have similar personalities and hobbies as themselves. Women are put on a completely separate hiring pedestal when it comes to being hired. I do feel like it is more challenging, a constant uphill fight at times just to remain to be seen and heard from my coworkers. As long as bias exists in humans as a whole, there isn't much an individual can do to change the direction of the tide
What advice would you give to a woman considering a career in your industry or what you wish to know before starting your career/business?
There have been times when I doubted if my business ideas were sound, but my mom has only ever been supportive of me, giving me the confidence to start a business. I admire how her staff and everyone around her treats her as friends, through her actions and how she treats others. My mom encompasses everything that I want to become as a person. She takes the role of being the best mom, the best friend, the best travel buddy, and the best mentor, to me
The elephant in the room is sexual harassment that women feel in the workplace, there is a statistic that says approximately 60% of female tech workers have reported sexual harassment. Although the issue exists in fields with a higher level of gender equality, the problem feels worse in IT as there are fewer targets in the profession with the gender gap. As a woman leader, I have had team members not take me seriously, and not being able to take orders from me. One such incident was when an employee could not respect me due to being younger than him, and to an extent, my gender.
In my opinion, a large factor in deciding which field to dive into as a woman is the work culture and environment of the workplace.
There needs to be more inspirational movies and shows that display women’s equal excellence and passion in tech to drive the next generation of newcomers into the workforce to choose to work in tech.
Feeling unheard, that my opinion does not matter. Men in the workplace tend to dismiss a woman’s ability. This bias will persist as long as there is a gender gap in a company. A personal issue I struggle with all the time is my height as a woman. Being considered short as a woman has compounded the leaps and hurdles just to feel like I'm on the same level as my peers. I stand tall and proud, with a bold and quick smile, never allowing anyone to rush to my defence, to command appreciation and respect as a leader in the workplace.
What do you think companies can do to encourage more women to choose careers in tech and rectify the imbalance?
Women tend to gravitate towards industries that allow us to socialize more, and in person jobs that require close bonds between team members. A common misconception is that the tech industry is solely just about a bunch of guys sitting in an office staring at their screens typing away. The reality is that working in tech isn't just about programming.
Tech is still often perceived to be male-dominated, technical, nerdish – in short, not suited to women. We should embrace the idea of workplace education for symbiotic relationships between the two genders. These could manifest in the form of team workshops to share emotional feelings. A totally awesome and cool work vibe and environment definitely also help with making girls feel proud being a tech-girl.
Working in tech is notorious for being fast-paced with a low tolerance for mistakes, which scares any newcomer into the space. Working in tech requires being in the know all the time to be able to adapt to new technologies constantly Male colleagues tend to keep to themselves, and to members of the same gender, this is further made worse by the fact that male workers in tech are not seen as the most sociable. This is a recipe for disaster if the problem is left unattended, women don't want to be excluded from the conversations of their male colleagues, because they end up feeling left out and not part of the team.
In your opinion, what is the biggest obstacle for women to succeed in the workplace/business?
If the idea of working in tech can be portrayed as more “sexy” and less “dingy”, women would be more inclined to work towards getting into the tech space. Media certainly plays a role too, with TV shows such as “Suits” for law, “Grey’s Anatomy” and Korean TV show “Doctors” for the medical industry helping shape the dreams of women watching around the world. There are tv shows and movies revolving around technology such as “Silicon Valley” and “The Social Network”, but as of yet, they perpetuate the endless stereotype of the typical male geek squad and their escapades to success

I feel that inspiration is everywhere you look, but I pay extra attention to listening to the stories of others.
I like to understand where someone else is coming from, and their point of view, to gauge how best to contribute to the situation or problem. A professor of mine taught me a lesson that I take to heart, that it is our responsibility to contribute back to society and add value.
Technology is not powerful if it isn't used for solving the world's problems. I try to put myself out there, at crypto events, being a part of Satoshi Women, to surround myself with other people with similar interests as myself. Socializing in this environment means I get to meet people from all walks of life, working in the same industry, be it founders, venture capitalists, or marketing specialists. This lets me keep up to date with the latest trends, allowing me to identify needs in the market and capitalize on them.
Although I usually boast about my work ethic and what it takes to achieve success, health is paramount. Nothing matters more than your own mind and body health.
One of the benefits of being a founder of a company is that I am passionate about my work, the line between work and play is blurred. I do put aside time to focus on life outside of work but an integral part of being a leader is also dedicating a large amount of myself to the goals I set for myself, and for my team.

Would you like to share some thoughts on how you’ve balanced your personal life with work?
I am to work smarter rather than working longer hours, fixing problems quickly to move on to new problems to feel constantly motivated at the tasks I give myself. I also see taking up jobs that I dislike as an opportunity to experience something new, and I find it exciting and rewarding to learn from embracing them. I always dedicate time to valuable people in my life such as family members, friends, and my peers for positive self growth, staying away from negative people that bring me down in life. How do you find inspiration in your life?
Tell us about you and your career and business!
My expertise was social media strategy in the beauty sector, got a job as a social media manager in the tech blockchain sector last year. Do you notice a lack of women in technology? If so, why do you think that’s the case?
Been in web3 since mid 2021 with a job as social media manager for Effect Network.
GABRIELLE PONCE
I do. To start with, it's only me and another woman working in this company I'm working in, surrounded by about 7 men. Events are also usually filled with men.
Today I'm the company's Marketing Manager and we run a successful network of partners and community. How did you get into the technology sector?
I think we've made a good push with the community of women now involved in web3 and supporting each other, but overall it can be intimidating and often uncomfortable being the only woman in a male environment, so we tend to go to fewer events and many times not applying for the jobs, etc.
Do you think that women in technology careers face different challenges than men do? Yes, but I also think women have the power to create a community in a way men don't. Being a community is one of the most important aspects of web3, I see a strong point for us and I've actually seen it happen Marketing Manager
Started out knowing NOTHING about blockchain, NFT, crypto, etc., and slowly dived into everything, and started networking, going to events and just growing in it.
Give women a chance Even the ones that don't fully understand the industry Invest in educating them in an onboarding programme.
Working from home has allowed me to create the perfect balance. I try not to work past 6 pm. I create lists of what I want to accomplish during the week on Mondays and follow through with them. Keep some organization/order and it helps me use time more effectively How do you find inspiration in your life?
Learn step by step because there's so much to do, and it can feel overwhelming
I am a strong believer in Manifestation. I study and practice it in my life. Not just for the work environment but also for things I want to accomplish in my daily life. I've seen so many things manifested in my life already that it keeps me motivated to reach for more! What's your favourite quote? Tiempo al tiempo. (Means to give time to time to do its magic)
I would've liked to know that there was a big community of women that welcomes and onboard any newcomer. I would also have liked to know that everyone is learning still and not knowing anything wasn't that big of a deal.
Our own minds. I think we very often feel intimidated and have a strong impostor syndrome. This takes up so much energy, that there's none left to develop and grow. We need to understand that it's not necessary to know everything and be good at it in the beginning. It takes time and dedication but also needs to be fun and satisfying Would you like to share some thoughts on how you’ve balanced your personal life with work?

What do you think companies can do to encourage more women to choose careers in tech and rectify the imbalance?
What advice would you give to a woman considering a career in your industry or what you wish to know before starting your career/business?
Please introduce yourself and tell us more about how you got into the fashion world and your journey so far?
My name is Zuzana, I am from Slovakia, living in Austria and I have always been excited about new ideas and innovations that improve our lives! I studied pharmacy and I have always worked in the health care sector However thanks to my older sister, Barbi, I have always been close to the world of fashion, especially jewellery. I truly think that a beautiful necklace or special earrings can make all the difference.
However, with time I got more and more aware of the huge negative impact the fashion industry has on our environment. I did not want my passion to contribute to this problem and started thinking about possible solutions. And suddenly, accelerated through the pandemics, it became obvious my company shifted entirely to a remote way of working from one day to another and I was able to connect with my colleagues, family and friends only by sitting in zoom calls. So when I was in front of the computers staring at myself in the camera I was thinking do we really need to buy new fashion and jewellery physically, if we only want to wear them in the virtual world? My sister works in business consulting advising mostly technology companies so her advice was and still is very valuable. We talked a lot about various ideas and the acceleration of digital technology has reinforced our thinking about digital fashion. As I said accessories really are the exclamation point of an outfit. So since the end of 2020, I analysed how the items which can be acquired on our website would get the most use in the virtual world, analysed filters and use cases in games or virtual worlds and decided to go with Jevels, virtual jewels. BASTIAN Co-Founder and CEO of JEVELS www.femaletechleaders.com
ZUZANA
A day in your business life! My days are all about collaborations with incredibly talented people who share our vision at JEVELS to bring virtual fashion to life and thus making our world more colourful, equitable and sustainable at the same time The technologies and the entire virtual space is evolving very rapidly so every day is different. I speak to many people with the goal to share our ideas, learn from each other and build effective partnerships for a successful business. I currently also work in the pharmaceutical industry which offers a different perspective I can leverage from at JEVELS.
JEVELS is a female founded company and we strongly encourage women to enter the evolving web3 space and provide all kinds of support and coaching possibilities. I believe that we have a lot to learn from each other, not only between genders but from all kinds of people with different backgrounds and motivations. Diversity and inclusion are extremely important at JEVELS and I am constantly amazed by the diverse paths our collaborators took before joining web3 confirming the equal opportunities in a decentralised system. The virtual fashion community we are working with is well balanced and inclusive, I have experienced an environment where everyone helps each other. We are lucky to receive as much support from men as from women in our endeavors. I believe this is not the case in the general tech and web3 space, but I think we are on the right path to have more and more likeminded people joining us. What are you most excited about for the future and where do you see the industry in 5 years? Many people see the Metaverse as some virtual space we will all be immersed in, being represented by our avatars.. I strongly believe there is more to that and am very excited to see the multiple technologies evolving as we speak! What excites me most is augmented reality (AR) and its utility in the real world. Currently, AR is already used for try-ons and better shopping experiences. I believe that in future we will not use it only for buying physical items but wear virtual fashion by means of AR in our daily lives. Actually, this is what we already do at JEVELS every piece of virtual jewellery on our platform can be worn through AR for social media and video call meetings like Zoom. So I am extremely excited to see the developments of AR glasses and lenses leading this further and am looking forward to dressing myself virtually so that everyone on the street who wears an AR device can see my virtual outfit.
Diversity issue in the tech sector: thoughts about the lack of women in technology.
www.femaletechleaders.com
Women who have inspired you. I feel very lucky to have been learning from two incredible women all my life - my sister Barbi and my mother Elena. They taught me that everything is possible with the right attitude. Actually, we still speak (almost) every day and they are crucial in building JEVELS. Barbi is pushing me every day to work hard and always bring my best, my mom is there with her positive energy fueling us to stay motivated On the professional side, there are so many amazing women who inspire me it is hard to name all of them. Since the beginning of my journey in web3 I have been a huge fan of Cathy Hackl and Ommy Akhe and never miss a chance to hear them speak! Cathy is a visionary and I learned so much about emerging technologies and the Metaverse from her talks and books. Ommy is an expert in building incredible experiences with AR and her enthusiastic attitude is contagious.
Future of fashion: People are prepared for the upcoming and unavoidable changes onboarding web3 considering consumer behaviour and adaptability?
This is where a network of experts who support you and whom you trust with their wisdom can be very helpful. At the same time, it is quite easy to acquire new skills and knowledge because there are so many webinars, platforms and literature that can be accessed freely. Many of us are self learners through tutorials on YouTube or other channels. In this rapidly evolving space, it is necessary to stay curious and open to leave the comfort zone and try new things. We are still early in the web3 space, everyone is learning so it is important not to be afraid to make mistakes
I believe the generations Z and alpha are ready, they are the engines of these changes. We already see parents being taught by their children or even young colleagues sharing their knowledge with senior peers how technologies work and this will be important also in future developments. When we talk about consumer adaptability we need to take into account the rise of personalised solutions in multiple areas Already with Netflix we receive personalised advice on what we might be interested in and this approach is being adopted also in other areas. A survey shows that 84% of fashion consumers would like to have personalised products, so I believe this is where the industry is heading to. We are shifting from “brand push” to “consumer pull” - the brands will have to cater for what the customer wants. Here is a huge opportunity for everyone to get included, express their individuality and explore this space at their own pace.
It might be overwhelming to stay on track with so many developments happening. But even if we want to, we cannot and do not need to know everything about every technology, we just need the right source of information when the time comes.

Please talk about your background.
As a young female founder still in college and 21 years old, I have created one of the most powerful and influential communities leading the transition from web2 to web3. My Crypto Goddess/God collection is creating beautiful one of one art of the 1000 (500 goddesses, 500 gods) most incredible and influential individuals in web3 and finance.
This platform will be the innovation hub for all of the CEO, entrepreneurs and market leaders that our CG pantheon collection is highlighting and their communities.
LINDSAY ROSENTHAL
All goddesses and gods will be given the highest number of tokens to use on the platform for appreciation of being a part of the collection.
I am also developing the Pantheon where our community comes together to create the web3 bridge. Here you will be able to network, learn and build with curated connections depending on your interests and rewarded with tokens for participation in our network-to-earn model
Lindsay Rosenthal LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/lindsay-rosenthal Lindsay Rosenthal Undressing Finance podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/0bLcZZuOseLwMQwAnRuwOW CG Pantheon @CGPantheon
The collection is backed by the Solana foundation and partnering with Educate Girls Globally and UN nonprofit, Girl Up. Each one of our minted NFTs will help fund schooling for refugee girls in Ethiopia or Uganda or high school girls in India.
What are your expectations as an artist - can you make a brief comparison between the world before and after NFTs.
Why do you choose to make this type of art and what does this represent to you as an artist?
Although I am not the person with the digital paintbrush for this collection, I am leading the creative team and art development. We wanted to create the most beautiful art of the most influential and inspiring female and male leaders in web3 and finance. This collection is inspired by both the powerful goddesses and gods of Greek mythology and the wonderful quirky and colorful art of Frida Kahlo. We wanted the art to be fun, passionate, colorful, strong, and awesome just like the amazing individuals being featured in the collection. Frida Kahlo also stood for living outside of the box, pushing the limits on what could be done, and was a powerful female. All things that inspire me as a young 21 year old. To me, this collection is not just pioneering the bridge of finance and business into web3, but brining humanity and real individuals into the blockchain through dynamic one of one art. This type of collection has not been done yet.
I am extremely inspired by the amount of opportunities with blockchain technology. As creators, we have never before been able to own the items we put out into the world. Before we would create anything and then never have the ability to fully own it or receive compensation for the efforts, but now, this is completely changed and people of all industries will be able to have fair exposure for their amazing works!! I believe this will give amazing encouragement for individuals to enter industries like the arts more freely/ "NFTs are changing this aspect and giving real value and rarity to digital content."
Did you ever find obstacles for being a female artist? Are there concepts you do feel more comfortable approaching while delivering a project?
Being a young female in web3, finance and now in the art space has always had its challenges, especially with the majority of males in these industries, but I also think it is incredibly empowering to be strong, hard-working, courageous and push against boundaries of what female creators are supposed to be in. I have also had amazing support from both females and males throughout my career. this is why I wanted to highlight both 500 goddesses and 500 gods with my collection!
www.femaletechleaders.com
The Crypto Goddess/God collection is featuring the 1000 most incredible and inspiring individuals in web3/finance with beautiful one of one art pieces. We are promoting diversity and inclusion by featuring 500 goddesses and 500 gods in this collection. This collection is inspired by the powerful greek goddesses and gods as well as the incredible Frida Kahlo.
How do you see the arts industry now with the possibility of reaching wider audiences due to the NFT market boom?
I am inspired by the amazing individuals in the collection as well as the girls like me all over the working to get an education to live a better life. Each minted NFT funded education for girls all over the globe which is life changing for not only these girls, but their families and their communities!! (also donating from secondary royalties) Where did you go to bring art, excitement and creativity to your NFT pieces?
I love Frida's quirky, fun, amazing pieces. I also take alot of inspiration from futuristic fashion. I also love walking down the street looking at the beautiful flowers to get ideas of flowers to have created to put into our art
Frida Kahlo What is next? Next, I am building a community center to utilize the amazing minds in the CG community to gamify the web2 to web3 bridge and create a curated experience to be able to NETWORK, LEARN, and DEVELOP This platform will be the innovation hub for all of the CEO, entrepreneurs, and market leaders that our CG Pantheon collection is highlighting as well as their communities! I am also passionate about bringing people together to chat about the future of the space and providing tools to builders on my socials and podcast, Undressing Finance.
Enjoy web3, and the amazing community it has to offer. I have learned more while being in this space then I have throughout my whole life!!
Please let us know your most influences that made it possible to create your art?
I think that amazing artists will now have the opportunity to reach a whole new set of customers and collectors that never existed before the NFT market boom. It is now easier for fabulous creators to be found and rewarded for their talent!! Art has been relevant for all of time, especially in Greek mythology, but now people can be rewarded fairly for their work. Tell us about your first collection.
Please tell us anything that you would like to leave to our community…
Do you have a favourite (s) artists ?

But closing the gap the FinTech gender gap remains a priority for Innovate Finance. It is important that all women entrepreneurs and business owners strive to ensure female leaders play a vital role in creating better financial services for our communities.
Although we have a lot of work to do to support more female FinTech founders and CEOs we should not overlook the contributions that women already play in our ecosystem. Many institutions that support FinTech companies including regulators, professional services groups, government organizations and marketing specialists are headed up by women. Together they are driving FinTech forward and helping to create one of world’s most successful business sectors.
Recent years have seen the growing presence of women in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) disciplines. More and more, women are seen as a rich, robust and diverse source of innovators. There are many women to celebrate in the world right now who are facing the hardest challenges of all: securing a safe place to spend the night; finding food, water, and shelter for their children and elders; or getting access to basic hygiene and medical care. McKinsey research shows women have felt the greatest impact from the global pandemic.

The 2021 iteration shines a spotlight on 250 women across 9 categories. These women leaders are pioneering new frontiers and building legacies in agriculture, banking, beauty, education, fashion, healthcare, and high tech.
Inclusive leaders are critical to success They unlock individual potential, enhance the collective power of teams, and support your organization’s ability to innovate and grow. What specific characteristics allow Inclusive Leaders to be successful? In this blog we will outline Deloitte’s report: The six signature traits of inclusive leadership. The 6 Cs of Inclusive Leaders! Curiosity Because different ideas and experiences enable growth. An inclusive leader is open, great at taking in other perspectives and can cope with ambiguity. What’s the one attribute CEOs need to succeed in the future? “I would place my bet on curiosity,” responded Michael Dell, chairman and chief executive officer of Dell Inc., in a 2015 interview. “Because with curiosity comes learning and new ideas, and in businesses that are changing very rapidly, if you’re not curious, you’re not learning, and you’re going to have a real problem ”
THE 6 C’S INCLUSIVE LEADERS NEED
Collaboration Because a diverse thinking team is greater than anything else.
Courage Because talking about imperfection takes personal risk-taking.
Practise humility Admitting mistakes; learning from criticism and different points of view; acknowledging and seeking contributions of others to overcome one’s limitations. Practise this with bravery.
According to Sodexo’s Anand, “Those [leaders] who lack the self-awareness and humility to learn and admit they don’t know everything these would be leaders who miss an opportunity to learn, and who will be blindsided if they are not careful.”
Cultural Intelligence Because not everyone sees the world through the same cultural frame.
Use your voice and encourage others to shine!
You must have the drive, the knowledge and the adaptability to be an inclusive leader. The ability to function effectively in different cultural settings is about more than just knowing about different cultures. Inclusive leaders also recognise how their own culture and stereotypes can influence their expectations of others.
Having a netwomen membership- corporate or individual- will help you stay on track and motivated with the knowledge and support from our community.
Bp’s As Majajas puts it, “It’s about being flexible but authentic I think a more inclusive leader is someone who knows when to adapt and doesn’t necessarily need to change who they are fundamentally.”
Commitment Staying the course is hard. Your personal values and belief in the business case must be strong.
Being inclusive of diversity is a big challenge It takes time and energy, two of a leader’s most precious commodities
Here is an example how Belinda Hutchinson, chancellor of the University of Sydney, stays committed to the cause: “It’s about giving people the opportunity to achieve what they should be able to achieve. It doesn’t just relate to gender. It relates to race, religion, sexual preference whatever else it may be.”
“The new IQ is based more on group intelligence,” says Bruce Stewart, acting director, strategic initiatives, US Office of Personnel Management. “The old IQ is about how smart you are; the new IQ is about how smart you make your team. If you take it to heart, it will change the way you lead. Instead of the leader leading from top of the pyramid, they lead from the middle of the circle ”
Cognizance Because bias is a leader’s downfall. Self regulate, reflect and always be fair. Acknowledge that your organization, despite best intentions, have unconscious bias, and put in place policies, processes, and structures in order to mitigate the unconscious bias that exists. We have a responsibility to shape a better future. The evolution of the internet (web 1 0 + web 2 0) has provided us with a sense of fear as well as hope. The problems technology has solved and also created are multi faceted, complex and dynamic. As the dawn of Web3.0 is upon us NFTs, DAOs, DeFi, Blockchain technology and VR/AR/XR and allthings “the Metaverse” the question is will its evolution continue to provide innovative solutions and will web 3.0 provide solutions to some of the global challenges we face? Today, right now we have the opportunity to guide and shape the future.
Building our understanding of the Metaverse
Central to much of this research is the organizing principle of a body ‘schema’ or ‘scheme’. The body scheme is a well established concept in the psychological sciences that refers to the implicit knowledge of the relational position of one’s body and its parts in space and time. The body schema is conceived of as dynamic and relational, being constantly restructured by the acquisition of new skills and movements.
The context of their use in virtual reality has now morphed to describe the abilities of technology to design and build synthetic, immersive virtual environments with increased and improved function and fidelity. Meanwhile, these virtual environments are actually encouraging a sense of dis embodiment, reduced presence, and removal of agency in our organic, biological world. Indeed, somatic practitioners, body based mental health practitioners, and mind body facilitators truly know the original intent of these words
“Tech leaders” of the Metaverse speak of presence, immersion, agency, ownership, and integration, but I wonder if they know the original intention of these terms?
The phenomenological philosopher Drew Leder has emphasized how the body tends to become within our conscious awareness mainly in times of illness, tiredness, or when there is difficulty in accomplishing a practical activity In contrast, in our everyday activities, we are largely unaware of our bodies. Rather, we are engaged with and immersed in our various practical activities. On these occasions, we do not have to consciously think of how to walk, run, reach, grasp or other similar activities.
All the senses are implicated in the development of the body schema, including aural, haptic, gustatory, visual, olfactory, kinaesthetic, vestibular, and somatic sensory patterns Vision provides optic information about the form of our bodies; the vestibular senses provide us with knowledge of the body’s positional relation to the environment; while the somatic senses provide us with tactile and positional information about the body in space.
Embodiment, Presence, Immersion, Multi-sensory Integration, Interoception, Proprioception, Sense of Agency, Bodily Consciousness
The Metaverse is the representation of possible worlds and therefore possible selves, with the aim of making them appear, and feel, as real as possible.
Therefore, bodily awareness is precognitive for much of the time. What are the implications on our authentic bodily awareness in the Metaverse?
I work at the intersection of arts, culture, mental health, psychology and technology because of this multi disciplinary experience, I’m acutely aware that the field of virtual reality, which forms the basis for the Metaverse, utilizes terminology “borrowed” from psychology, mind/body wellness and mental health practices. Terminologies such as:
It is assumed that awareness (both conscious and unconscious) and movement of the body, enable the functional distinction between the nature of the physical body and that of our extended body in space. As such, the body scheme provides the basis for meaningful human interaction within the environment.

What is historically novel creating not only new psychological risks but also introduces questions about the ethical and legal complexity caused is the integration of the conscious and unconscious mind of a physical human being into the digital Metaverse. Our organic bodies and brains have evolved under very specific conditions and over millions of years, now interwoven and informationally integrated into technical systems for representing possible realities. Increasingly, it is not only culturally and socially embedded but also shaped by a technological niche or “AI”, driven by autonomous dynamics and ever new properties. This creates a complex involution, a feedback loop or information flow in which the biological mind and AI influence each other in ways we are just beginning to understand. It is these complex relationships that makes it so important to think about the ethics of the Metaverse in a critical, evidence based, and transparent manner. So what am I trying to say? In summary if we’re going to use the terminologies of embodiment, presence, immersion, multi sensory integration, interoception, proprioception, sense of agency and ownership, in the context of the Metaverse and the technology that supports it We must use these terms in their holistic sense as they relate to both the virtual and organic worlds to ensure the context of relational human interaction is understood in its entirety by not only humans, but the AI the Metaverse will build….

THE EVOLUTION OF STABLECOINS Image Source: CoinDesk
It is no secret that cryptocurrencies are a highly volatile asset class One moment they seem to be reaching new heights and then the very next day they can suddenly drop significantly. The opposite also holds true, so there is a lot of big sudden movements in price and value in this assets class What problem do Stablecoins Solve?
The volatility of cryptocurrencies can be problematic and risky so the average person may not want to deal with it. You can see the amount of volatilty one of the most popular cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin, has faced as compared to US Dollar, both trading against the Canadian dollar in the figure below. This is where Stablecoins come in. Not only do they address the problem of volatility, but they also provide an easy value of exchange between fiat and cryptocurrencies. This is particularly a good use case for remittances and are a liquidity tool for cryptoexchanges.
1 Fiat collateralized: By being pegged or collateralized to a fiat currency. This is the most common way that stablecoins maintain their fixed value. Each stablecoin is backed to one unit of fiat currency, the most common being the US Dollar. Backed means that there exists a reserve of one unit of fiat currency per unit of stablecoin. However in reality, some stablecoins do not actually maintain a 1:1 ratio as they are expected to, which gives way to risk. Example of fiat collateralized stablecoins are Tether (USDT) and USD Coin (USDC).
3 Crypto-collateralized: By being pegged to other cryptocurrencies, certain stablecoins maintain their relatively fixed values. However, keeping into account the volatile nature of cryptocurrencies, when using crypto collateralization, the stablecoin is usually over collateralized, so for each stablecoin, you would have much more cryptocurrency to make up for sudden price movements. This whole process of crypto collateralization also occurs on chain and is done via smart contracts. An example of a crypto collateralized stablecoin is DAI.
2. Commodity Collateralized: These stablecoins are pegged to commodoties or assets such as gold, precious metals, oil, real estate etc. The risk with this is that commodoties and assets can tend to appreciate or depreciate over time and so these stablecoins are exposed to that possibility. However they also provide the added utility that holders can exchange them for either cash or the underlying asset.
Definition of Stablecoins:
To deal with this problem of high volatility in cryptocurrencies, we have Stablecoins. As the name implies, they are less volatile and relatively “stable.” Stablecoins are special types of cryptocurrencies which are pegged or linked to other fixed assets and that gives them the ability to maintain their fixed value.
How do Stablecoins Maintain their Stability?
Stablecoins maintain their stabililty in four main ways:
The most common commodity used for such stablecoins is gold Examples of commodity collateralized stablecoins include Tether Gold (XAUT) and Paxos Gold (PAXG).
4. Non-Collateralized: Some stablecoins are not pegged to anything and instead maintain their value through an algorithm. The algorithm along with smart contracts ensures that the supply of the tokens in circulation is maintained in a way that price stability is reached. The disadvantage with these stablecoins is that as they do not have any real collateral, in order to be successful they need to be continuously growing which can prove challenging when the market is down. The most infamous example of non collateralized or algorithmic stablecoins is TerraUSD.
The first stablecoin was actually BitUSD which was launched on the BitShare blockchain in July 2014. Interestingly it was launched by two people, one of whom was Charles Hoskinson who would later go on to be one of the founders of Ethereum and after that also of Cardano. Next in line was NuBits which was released in September 2014 and this falls under the Seigniorage Shares category While both BitUSD and NuBits did not fare so well in maintaining their peg over time, it is worth noting that both projects still exist to date. They are both collateralized over crypto.
Tether has been under criticism for holding much less fiat currency in reserves than they should, and also for not revealing the exact values.
Tether was originally called “Real Coin” and launched in October 2014 on Bitcoin blockchain. A month later, it was rebranded as Tether and is currently the number one stablecoin by market capitalization. This is despite the fact that it suffered a major crash in 2017 after $31 million of USDT tokens were stolen and also it has been under a lot of scruitiny for not sharing the exact value of its reserves. Ideally, a fiat pegged stablecoin should be holding a 1:1 ratio of stablecoin to fiat currency reseverve.
History of Stablecoins:
Did you know that stablecoins existed even before Ethereum was launched?
If you look at the image below, the stablecoin DAI comes in fourth space in stablecoins listed according to Market Capitalization using CoinMarketCap DAI is a stablecoin that was launched by MakerDAO which is a decentralized organization and it is a crypto-collateralized stablecoin.

After 2017, stablecoins exploded in 2018 and there were 36 new stablecoins launched in 2018 alone. By 2019, there were a total of 66 stablecoins.
I came across the original Reddit post from 2014 by Rune Christenson, one of the founders of MakerDAO. The title of the reddit post is “Introducing eDollar, the ultimate stablecoin built on Ethereum.” To put this in perspective, Ethereum was to be launched in 2015, even though its white paper was released in 2014. eDollar would eventually lead to the making of DAI stablecoin, which was launched in 2017. You can read the original Reddit post here .
According to the Blockchain Council, earlier this year in February 2022 there were approximately 200 stablecoins in existence. Most Popular Blockchain for Stablecoins Ethereum is the most popular blockchain for Stablecoins, with more than 50% of stablecoins based on the Ethereum Network. According to the Consensys State of Stablecoins report, there are 33 stablecoins built atop of the Ethereum blockchain, with Bitshares in second place having 8 stablecoins and Stellar in third place with 6 stablecoins. BlockData and Consensys
Another important stablecoin launched in 2017 that is worth mentioning is USDC or USD Coin. It currently holds the spot as second place in terms of stablecoins by market capitalization. USDC or USD Coin is also Coinbase’s official stablecoin.
Stablecoins offer a way of connection between the fiat and cryptocurrency world. Yet they do have a risk element in them. The riskiest stablecoins are the algorithmic or non collatoralized stablecoins as is obvious from the recent Terra/Luna episode. Even people who had never heard of stablecoins got to hear about them around May 2022 when the stablecoin TerraUSD and its sister coin LUNA crashed, taking down approximately US $200 billion with them. However even collateralized stablecoins are not are not completely risk free. In particular, when stablecoins promise to have a certain amount of reserve currency behind them, yet fail to provide exact figures and there is opacity instead of transparency, it gives way to concern for customers, consumers and even regulators. Uncertainty due to regulatory issues is another aspect that also needs to be kept in mind. However the pace of innovation in the stablecoins and cryptocurrencies space remains unprecedented so there is hope for exciting breakthroughs in the future.

These are accessed by passwords and crypto keys. Needless to say that you should never ever provide your password nor crypto keys. For instance, crypto keys are a set of words (that will vary according to the wallet provider) and if you share these keys, you lose your access to your wallet forever and will not be able to recover it so be smart and keep it safe!
1 Hard wallet - It is required, pure and simple: it costs an average of $100 but it is worth it because it transact using an offline private key and the transaction itself will be updated once it is online via a computer device.
2. Paper wallet literally a printed wallet where private keys can be stored in a safe for example Since it is an offline wallet, it is impossible to track on the blockchain and it does not offer a third party access to it.
UNDERSTANDING CRYPTO-WALLETS
There are cold wallets - not connected to the Internet and hot wallets - connected to the Internet and it is really important to consider the differences between such types. A cold wallet can be a hard wallet (literally a hardware that can store your assets) and a paper wallet.
The term “crypto wallet” is self explanatory and simply tools for holding assets. However, there are lots of things to consider when creating one so you can have your assets stored, exchanged, transacted, etc.

Also, it can be custodial and non-custodial wallets. The big difference here is “who holds the crypto keys”: In a custodial wallet scenario, you do not have any control of the keys and this can add serious risks to your pocket. The non-custodial wallets offer a better solution as you have control of your private keys
To make it shorter than what can be, always DYOR and check which crypto wallets are available and then opt for those that are more suitable for your needs - but remember: Having access to a hard wallet is strongly recommended so you can keep your assets SIlverado &
For instance, research is required so you can review which one will be the best solution for your needs but it is definitely a must have. Ledger and Trezor are some of the many on offer in the market right now.
A hot wallet is widely used because it offers the possibility to spend, move and transact your assets via the Internet. However, like any other online service, it can be hacked and can cause asset loss. These wallets can be based on desktop - where the private keys are encrypted and secured on the device’s hard drive, web - provided by crypto exchanges and accessible via web browsers and mobile used with more frequency for payments of goods and services. BitPace and Exodus, Metamask and Trust are some of the most used by investors

We have all had beautiful and bold dreams as children. We imagined, we played pretend, we danced and sang. We made art out of life! What a precious time childhood can be, particularly if we are given space to be our fully expressed, authentic selves then.
But, as citizens of this planet, there are practical responsibilities. It is important for us to be reasonably civilized, depending on where we find ourselves. It is necessary to mind others, for us to co habitat on the planet. And within that, to welcome grace and patience to enter our lives when making changes that involve others.
WHY IS BEING AUTHENTIC SO DIFFICULT?
That said, there is a lot of pressure to keep it all together; to balance the inner and outer desires. Our brains may point to what is familiar, convenient or helps our sense of belonging in the environment within which we exist. So much distraction exists in our modern day world that validates our behaviour if we give into its glitter. It can feel busy and even overwhelming, as we try and keep up with what we feel is expected of us. Conversely, the heart or even deeper guidance via our intuition may point us in the direction of choices that completely defy logic It’s a quieter path; a simpler one more often than not.

12 SIGNS THAT YOU ARE ON THE RIGHT PATH
In turn, it seems that parts of us are at odds with one another. How difficult this human experience can feel, at times!
The Story Behind the Story
Primarily during the first six years of life, where our survival was dependant on those around us, and we learned to bend to everyone’s needs but our own. And so, the true self that fuels our creativity, our love for ourselves and our richest desires were forgotten. As a result, we become adults who are overwhelmed by the thinking mind; not really knowing what we want or how to go about it. We put our upsets on others, as we have learned that the solutions always come from outside of us We stop trusting ourselves and hide our gifts away. Living this way allows us to be easily controlled and manipulated, as we once were as children. Because taking a stand, for a life that is aligned with our values, feels terrifying. It is much easier to keep with what feels most familiar and keep our kids there too.
And so, we arrive at where we are today. Relying on all sorts of band aid solutions to ‘fix’ our mental and emotional distress, from weight loss to exotic vacations in the absence of having tools to help us navigate. Yet, we often dodge the root solutions in doing so, hoping that it can be remedied quickly so that we can return to life as it once was. Productive, effective and even flawless.
Fortunately, particularly during these unprecedented times as a planet, we are seeing the cost of not being authentic more and more clearly. It impacts our physical, emotional and mental health. It hurts the quality of our relationships.
We are not to blame, as the busy caterpillar stage is too a special part of the human journey. But as the caterpillar sheds its many skins and begins to pause, there is a metamorphosis that takes place. One that we are experiencing as a humanity in our world today Will we take the opportunity we have today to pause, reassess what matters most and recreate our lives from that place?
It has us constantly second guessing ourselves and looking outside for answers Yet, re meeting our true selves is a life long process. Learning to be our whole selves IS the process of life itself! Feeling safe in our own unique expression, and being willing to share our innate gifts, is probably the most vulnerable and courageous act of service to yourself, and the world. Much of it may not even make sense to the world today! For this is the path to greater joy, fulfillment and freedom. In which case, you don’t spend your life getting the approval of others (including your parents, and your own children!) to live life in a way that serves you.

That is why we support you on your journey back to your true, playful nature! As that version of you may feel unfamiliar Unsafe And even silly to go back to. This is the truer version we were born as and began to give up early on in life, may feel impossible to reconnect with through adulthood. But what we know through our years of supporting grown-ups is that our tears, our time for play and adventure and our creative endeavours are necessary for our adult fulfillment. The journey back to your true self is worth it. Social media in its current state is more centralized than the financial system was prior to the introduction of Bitcoin. A prime example is the recent fiasco with Elon Musk taking over Twitter as the major shareholder. This is no different from any dictatorship when one party has the penultimate decision to set a policy for countless people to abide by.
RADIAN hopes to be the forerunner, to light the torch and lead the path for the revolution of forever changing how social media should be, and for the better.
Similar to how blockchain technology has disrupted the financial sector by introducing a new way to govern and handle currency, letting the individual control their own assets with full transparency, we can do the same with social media, using smart contracts, decentralized databases, and take back control over our creations: our posts, comments, and shared media
RADIAN: to give the reins back to the user
The current Ads driven business model that social media platforms adopt(Twitter, Facebook, Youtube) works like this: To put it simply, popular social media platforms today must have exclusive access to its user’s content for the ads driven business model to work. Let us use Twitter as an example. Allowing competitor apps to run on their content will lead to losing the attention of their users, leading to less users browsing their feed, therefore less revenue generated from the annoying ads they display. With the explosive growth of social media, and with more people than ever actively engaging and connecting online, businesses seeking to advertise their own products have increasingly higher exposure to being negatively affected by where their ads are shown. When a company endorses a celebrity or sports team, they are seen as actively encouraging and supporting them, and all the actions they commit.
Users browse the contents of the platform shared by others Generates revenue by displaying ads for the users to see when they use the platform
Deny the ability to have the content of the platform be run on any other app
The current business model therefore means that these platforms need to actively control what is and can be displayed on their feed, having full centralized control of the narrative in a sense, you do not want to lose advertisers because they do not want to be associated with a site that allows illegal content now would you?
The Current Situation: The current ad based model for social media platforms works like this: Picture a black box in the center, this is the platform(aka tech giants such as twitter, facebook, tiktok). With this in mind, now picture 1 balloon on each side of the black box. The two balloons refer to the dependencies of the black box(social media platform). The users give clicks and content to the middle black box. The black box in turn gives the user interface to play with. The black box then sends the users clicks to the advertisers and in turn receives revenue from them. The current model has everything running exclusively through them(the black box). www.femaletechleaders.com
Users generate content for the platform
Funny enough, when social media was still in its infancy, Twitter and Facebook both had an open model that actively encouraged third party developers to build on their APIs. In the early 2010s you could find alternative clients and browser extensions to use your social media platform of choice. Why did they let their APIs be publicly available? Because with an “open model” where you let any developer build on your platform is great for reaching more people. User gains define the success of social media platforms. In a sense of the word, the decentralized business model was the optimal strategy, encouraging innovation, therefore better apps, and ultimately maximizing growth.
The issues with the current social media platform business model:
The platform holds all the content generated by its users and can use the content to generate revenue however they want, such as selling users data to creepy call centers, or even worse, to our data hungry machine A.I overlords. Imagine a world where a computer determines what kind of person you are, controls what you eat by sending you targeted ads the AI thinks you would like based on your location history and search history. Yeah, it’s already happening.
Introducing The RADIAN Model for a Decentralized Social Media Platform: 1. 2. 3. 4. Technical issues to solve:
Users interact with a smart contract to create an account with their crypto wallet address, their account profile is bound to this address.
The nft holds metadata of the content uploaded, storing video and comment posts as an ipfs link, and an arweave link as backup.
Every content post, comment to a post, follow and upvote of a post by the user on RADIAN involves signing a custom smart contract that verifies and then converts the data to a custom nft that they hold.
Every interaction with the frontend/interface of RADIAN the user makes is signed by the individual, and all content created is owned by the individual as an nft
We have already discussed how today’s social media platforms generate revenue, but how will RADIAN generate revenue, and how can our user’s monetize the content they create? Instead of shareholders deciding on new feature implementations, future roadmap, changes to the platform, a governance token will allow users/investors to vote with the weight of the vote based on the percentage of tokens they own compared to the total circulating supply.. How can users monetize their content? Some things you will be able to do on RADIAN on launch include: Being able to sell your posts to other members of the RADIAN community or on Opensea/NFT marketplaces. www.femaletechleaders.com
In a traditional platform/app, when a user signs in to the platform, the username and password inputted from the front end interface is sent over to a backend server that stores all the existing user’s usernames and passwords. If the combination exists in the database, a message is sent back to the front end with the credentials to use their account on the platform alongside the permissions to their data from the backend server. When the user decides to post a tweet, the 1s and 0s that make up the tweet are first verified through a function that makes sure the tweet consists of a string of text and nothing else, then the data is sent over to the backend to have it stored in database somewhere that says that this tweet belongs to this person and created at what time. With the advancements of technology, processing powers, and cheaply available rentable servers such as AWS, all these steps are processed in a matter of seconds. As with any decentralized app being developed on a blockchain, scalability bottlenecks will be an issue. This is only possible with the decentralized model. Why?
IPFS is decentralized because it loads the content from thousands of peers instead of one centralized server. Every piece of data is cryptographically hashed, resulting in a safe, unique content identifier: CID. Store your website in IPFS to avoid censorship and a single point of failure. Your personal IPFS node goes offline? Don’t worry, the website will still load from other nodes across the globe serving it.
With RADIAN, every user’s data is stored on IPFS. Instead of asking Twitter for permission if you can see your favorite basketball player’s latest tweet, we give the users control over who gets to see their content. We just provide the tools to do so. Why will the Decentralized Model Succeed? Case in point: Why do Youtubers constantly complain about their videos being pulled down, Politicians crying about their twitter account being disabled, Facebook taking down drug trafficking group pages? Because it’s in the best interest of these giants to do so. The early days of the internet was like the wild west, anything goes, but with the internet now being run by a select few powerful giants come with increased responsibility. In combination with the advent rise of “cancel culture” where one wrong move can lead to the downfall of the company But what if instead of having these large corporations dictate what we should see and what we can say online, we delegate responsibility to the individual user. Let’s say you want to become a youtuber and create prank videos in hopes of making some money. He needs to pass a set of requirements namely consistent viewership retention, consistent uploading of videos. You are granted monetization of your content after a year of hard work. You then realize youtube takes 70% of all the ad revenue generated from your content, and to add salt to your wound, half of your videos have been demonetized because you mentioned the word “Covid” in them. On the other hand, we have the decentralized social media model where there isn’t a terms of service(TOS) to abide by, you can choose to be anonymous if you want, post whatever content you wish to post, and see whatever your heart desires unfiltered. Your photo uploads, posts, and www.femaletechleaders.com
What is IPFS/ARWEAVE?
Why is data storage centralized?
Being able to sell your entire profile: use cases include……(*use your imagination*) Tipping feature, showing how much you appreciate your friend’s post about tomorrow’s upcoming Luna crash with a crypto gift directly to their wallet.
In 2021, Amazon’s AWS held 31% market share in cloud services, with Microsoft’s Azure in second place with 20% and Google Cloud Platform taking third place with 6%. When someone pulls the plug on an AWS server warehouse, half the world’s internet services go down. If a company uses AWS for their database storage needs, they are reliant on AWS to not go down, the particular linux machine to catch on fire etc. If Amazon suddenly decides tomorrow that they will be doubling rent prices, unfortunately there is nothing you can do about it. You can either stick around or start all over again with building your backend infrastructure.

Misogyny and sexism are two interconnected concepts that, unfortunately, continue to support violence against women here in Brazil.
What future does a country have in which villainy distorts reality, building false narratives in the service of maintaining spurious interests of specific groups?
Misogyny and omission: communication as a setback tool.
How is it possible that authors of any type of communication that exposes and offends people, tarnishing or compromising their reputations, can go unpunished? Where is justice? And when this fake communication machine uses misogynistic refinements with a clear political motivation? Before continuing this conversation, it is worth clarifying some concepts: misogyny is a term used to define feelings of hating women, or the belief that men are much better than women. The word comes from the Greek "miseo" - hate and "gyne" women.
Misogyny is a pathological feeling of aversion towards the feminine, translated into sexist behaviors, opinions and attitudes that aim to maintain inequalities and hierarchy between genders, feeding the belief in the superiority of power and the male figure Sexism is the set of discriminatory attitudes and sexual objectification, based on stereotypes, to establish a social role that each gender "should" play.
I am Neivia Justa, awarded and recognized Brazilian businesswoman, mother of Luiza and Julia, two teenager girls, jornalist, entrepreneur, influencer, teacher, mentor, consultant and connector of purposeful leaders who think, communicate and act in a conscious, diverse, inclusive and innovative way to guarantee a sustainable future for all
Although we have advanced a lot in the last 50 years in the fight against misogyny and sexism here in Brazil, every now and then we are faced with disgusting public episodes that smell of mothballs and sulfur, such is the setback and violence they portray from our current moment. Sexism engagement with misogynistic effect.
In addition to that, at the beginning of March we had a new outrageous, sordid, misogynistic and inhumane episode: São Paulo State Deputy Arthur do Val, elected by 478,280 people and pre-candidate for the government of São Paulo, decided to travel to Ukraine (with political campaign purposes) and, while there, he sent an audio message to his friends in which he explicitly objectifies Ukrainian women who are seeking refuge in the middle of the war, and claims, among other absurdities, that "they are easy because they are poor".
As Martin Luther King said, “The ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people but the silence over that by the good people."
For God´s sake, this audio message became viral and soon this creature will loose his mandate. But we all know that he represents the thinking and practice of a large portion of Brazilian men.
Our February began with one of these sad and grotesque episodes: an anonymous, mocking and offensive video, constructed from out-of context speeches of women that work at the company responsible for the project of São Paulo´s subway line 6 was criminally viral on social networks to make us believe that the accident at the construction site was responsibility and result of the incompetence of these women.
Episodes like these should inspire indignation and collective mobilization And why don't they inspire? Why is the overwhelming majority of expressions of rejection and support coming from women? Where are the leading men who don't take a stand? Why don't they use their place of power and influence to show solidarity and repudiation of such a criminal act? Where is the speech, in practice? What explains the omission and deafening silence of countless business leaders who say they are anti-sexist, inclusive and promoters of gender equality? Why do they remain silent, keeping themselves alienated from reality? Where is the empathy and respect for diversity that they talk so much about? And if one of these violently offended women were their mother, wife, daughter, daughter-in-law, niece, goddaughter, would they engage in this fair cause?
Digital Minimalism: Choosing a Focused Life in a Noisy World by Cal Newport
Best Books this month recomended books
Digital minimalists are all around us. They're the calm, happy people who can hold long conversations without furtive glances at their phones They can get lost in a good book, a woodworking project, or a leisurely morning run They can have fun with friends and family without the obsessive urge to document the experience. They stay informed about the news of the day, but don't feel overwhelmed by it. They don't experience "fear of missing out" because they already know which activities provide them meaning and satisfaction.

No entanto, ainda estamos longe do problema é resolvido inteiramente.

Parece absurdo?
