Free 24-hour Festival with live bands They Say Fall, Years Young, Savour the Silence, Youth., Bleeding Tooth, Red Eyed Juveniles, Future Theory, Pt Punk, DJs, silent disco, fabulous free food, fun activities for kids including bouncy castle, tug of war and painting, Spoken Word, gaming tournaments, art installations, 24-hour cinema, workshops, fire pit, bar. Festival x-24 is Gainsborough’s best-kept secret, an amazing 24-hour festival with the best hand-picked local talent, food and quirky fun of all kinds to surprise and delight you. It’s on your doorstep, it’s really different and it’s free.
Saturday night’s line-up includes top local bands: They Say Fall, Years Young, Savour the Silence, Future Theory, Red Eyed Juveniles, Bleeding Tooth and Youth. Dance till 2am with DJs SABE and Horizons, then take on the silent disco. You can eat paella cooked on our Fire Pit or Redhill Farm pulled pork butties with homemade coleslaw, have a nice cold beer or juice in the hidden courtyard or snuggle up with a hot chocolate and a brownie at 3am. This is Slumgothic’s fourth 24-hour festival and you’ll wish you’d been coming since the start. Slumgothic works in very close connection with artists, acts and performers who care about the people here:

Infiltrators (Mutasaliloon) by Khaled Jarrar [Palestine] 2012 | Documentary | 70 min The checkpoint is closed. “Detour, detour!” shouts a taxi driver and announces the beginning of the journey. The film unravels adventures of various attempts by individuals and groups during their search for gaps in the Wall in order to permeate and sneak past it. Infiltrators is a visceral and haunting “road movie” that chronicles the daily travails of Palestinians as they seek routes through, under, around, and over a bewildering matrix of barriers erected by Israel in the West Bank/Jerusalem area, including the 7-meter-high wall. Filmmaker Jarrar follows this high stakes “game” of cat and mouse with a handheld video camera. (A)mare Conchiglie (Lovable Seashells) by Kyrahm and Julius Kaiser [Italy] 2015 | Performance art & Film | 20 min On the 3rd July 2015, just before sunset, seated at a long table on the shore of Tyrrhenian Sea in the town of Nettuno, south of Rome, Kyrahm and Julius Kaiser invited elderly Italian and recent African migrants to share their stories over a meal. For two weeks, Kyrahm and Julius Kaiser searched for people in shelters and on the streets. The goal is to open a window into an unknown world, to break down the fear and prejudice attached to it. We hear the story of their lives. Testimonies of hope in a desperate journey from Africa, people who do not see their loved ones for years, ventured on rafts : survivors, with many comrades who didn’t make it. Elderly, wandering, fireflies; migrants are sea shells. Those very same shells we step distracted on at the beach. The very same shells that shout the sound of the wind when you put them to your ear. Just stop, collect, listen.
Evaporating Borders by Iva Radivojevic [Yogoslavia] 2014 | Drama - documentary | 73 min Evaporating Borders develops a sweeping visual essay on global restrictive attitudes toward migrating populations. Guided by the filmmaker’s curious eye and personal reflections, the film dissects the experience of asylum seekers in Cyprus. Through a series of vignettes, it poetically weaves themes of migration, tolerance, identity and belonging.

Photographer Charles Ommanney drove nearly 2000 miles along the US-Mexico border from Brownsville, TX to San Diego, CA where he photographed and filmed the border fence, and gathered testimony from US citizens along the border. The result is a unique perspective on the immigration debate through a conceptual exploration of the economic, political, environmental, and humanitarian costs of the construction of this fence.
