Andamar Lampshade & Darana Mirror
Andamar Lampshade and Darana Mirror by Palemcraft are aesthetic modern home decors inspired by nature and a historic site in Yogyakarta. The lampshade and mirror (except for the reflective part) are handcrafted out of 100% woven or shaved Abaca tree fiber. The structures are inspired by Borobudur, a unique Buddhist temple in Yogyakarta that dates to the 8th or 9th centuries.
The shape and pattern of Andamar reflect the temple‘s dome („Stupa“). In contrast, Darana‘s design reflects the circular tiers of this temple. The visible use of Abaca tree fiber brings a sense of nature and sustainability to homes. At the same time, the Borobudur inspired structure gives a sense of unique artistic taste to homes.
DESIGN
Andamar Lampshade and Darana Mirror by Palemcraft are home decoration products made out of Abaca, the debris of old and barren banana trees. By turning these excesses into products with economic values, we prevent potential damage to the environment by stopping locals from burning these waste.
SUSTAINABILITY
Andamar and Darana are handcrafted by local artisans in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Each sale directly supports the artisans‘ families, which typically have no other means of income. The products are suitable for those who desire some exotic and natural atmosphere at home, with sustainability in mind.
