Superyacht of the Week: The new Ferretti Custom Line 100 Saturday, 9 July 2011
By Jochem Kaan This july, the latest expansion of the Ferretti Custom Line was launched, the Custom Line 100'. This newest addition to the already impressive collection of the accomplished multinational shipyard, consisting of three earlier Custom Line releases launched in a range of 26m to 37m, has been appropriately called Desta. With a name which loosely translates to “arouses, it perfectly pinpoints what this fibreglass maxiyacht is all about.
A highly refined interior design combined with a precise and modern exterior and, naturally, impressive performance. At first glance, her interior feels remarkably hospitable and spacious, as if one is moving about a luxury apartment or high-end designer condo, but as we are accustomed to when it comes to Italian style and design, there is much more than meets the eye.

Desta's exterior catches the eye with her sporty appearance that is, without being flashy, surely bound to grab the attention of any onlooker. Upon entering the aft maindeck, one walks into an intimate outside dining/lounging area, comfortably seating a party of up to 10 people.
Spending some time relaxing on either the large upholstered sofa or one of the modern Italian design armchairs, a pleasant combination of privacy and openness can be experienced, relishing the surrounding views without losing a sense of personal space in this large cockpit.

An enjoyable sense of airiness has been skillfully integrated throughout the entire vessel and upon entering the main saloon this feeling is greatly enhanced by the electronically sliding glass doors which, on request of the current owner, have been placed into the starboard side.
A considerable part of the saxboard can be electronically folded down to deck level, turning into an intrinsically elegant terrace above the sea and greatly adding to the overall feeling of solace and space. Inside, a capacious lounging area with with a contemporary, ecru colored leather L-shaped sofa and matching chaise longue can be found, complimented with additional modern chairs, designed by acclaimed designer Paola Lenti, and an inside lunch and dining area combining a crystal topped table with Matteo Grassi seats.

All interior design has been executed with high attention to detail and with use of a calm color palette, combining light cream and grey tones with different types of luxury woods, soft leathers, bright natural stone and fabrics, subtly accentuated with dashes of color throughout.
From the main saloon, a small, central placed hallway gives access to the staircase, connecting the upper and lower decks, and the exquisitely equipped and equally stylish galley and the spacious owners cabin, which is set in a darker, more classic range of tones. The owners quarters feature a walk-in closet, en suite bathroom and desk area, all in a soothing private and perfectly calm atmosphere. The wide body, specifically unique for a yacht of this size, ensures a significant improvement of living space.

The lower deck features an impressive array of guest cabins, all accessible from the central lobby and offering a total of two double beds and four singles. Naturally, all guest cabins also have en suite bathrooms and ample space for storage. Notably, both VIP-cabins offer sizeable showering areas with lovely panorama views outside. Generous amounts of daylight are assured in each cabin, extending the main saloons feel of airiness and light below deck through the use of various open view windows on guest cabin level. Crew areas can be found in the bow of the lower deck, reachable through a staircase leading down from the main deck galley.
The central stairway also allows access to the helm station, raised for maximum visibility. The upper deck, reachable through either the helm station or aft deck cockpit, offers a helm station as well as extensive space for lounging, either on the U-shaped divan and added table, which also functions as an extra outside dining area, or at the grill and bar area. Also, large freestanding sunbeds can be found astern, offering a complete array of
