Ferrum College News & Events
March 2023
Dear Ferrum Family,
The countdown to commencement has begun, and Ferrum College students are making the most of every opportunity together. Panthers have shown up and out, demonstrating their exceptional academic and athletic abilities
Two students, Braden Homsey and Rayshawn Dixon, competed in the 2023 NCAA Division III Wrestling National Championships, hosted by Ferrum College, March 10–11, at The Berglund Center in Roanoke. The event put a spotlight on Ferrum’s wrestling program, which was hosting it for the second time in the last five years
On March 25, women’s softball commanded the focus as we welcomed more than 200 current and former players, families, fans, and donors to the Vickie Van Kleeck Softball Complex ribbon cutting. Special highlights included announcement of the Clark ’80 and Susan ’81 Childers Pressbox, which celebrates the couple’s exceptional gift to the effort. Ed George ’68, while reluctant to be recognized, expressed hope that his support would inspire athletes to be financially generous to all Ferrum teams Before cutting the ribbon to officially open the building, VVK expressed her gratitude for the complex and her love for the Ferrum community,

In just two weeks, the College will hold its annual awards that recognize the outstanding academic achievements of Ferrum students It is inspiring to hear the stories of perseverance, personal development, and intellectual growth, despite the challenges of COVID, that created one of the most resilient classes of students in Ferrum’s history
Please join me in celebrating these and many other young people who are contributing to our Panther Pride!
