Xenia Wiest Xenia Wiest was born the 8th of February in Moscow. She is one of the most talented upcoming choreographers in Europe. Coming from a family of musicians she developed a relation to the music very early. After receiving intensive musical education she played concert flute and sang in a choir participating in the State Theatre of Braunschweig. At the age of 13 she fell in love with the dance and made her first steps in a private school “Academie de danse” in Braunschweig. When she was 16, she joined John CrankoSchool in Stuttgart where she graduated in 2003. The same year she got her first engagement in German Opera of Berlin, followed by a guest contract as Soloist in Theatre Görlitz. Since 2004 until today she has been working with Staatballett Berlin under the direction of Vladimir Malakhov. In the past 10 years she had the opportunities to work and dance ballets of world famous choreographers like Mauro Biggonzetti, Angelin Preljocaj, Marco Goecke, George Balanchine,William Forsythe, Maurice Bejart, etc. Her first creation was presented in the ballet evening for young choreographers “Shut up & Dance“ in 2005. Because of the big successs and the popularity among the audience, this

event was held again in 2007 and 2010 with Xenia Wiest and Nadja Saidakova being the only choreographers presenting their works in all of them. The aspects typical for Xenia´s work are her musicality, fine body aesthetics, sensitivity for the artistic humor and the talent to tell a story through the movements. Her choreographies such as: “To be continued“,“Augenblick“, “La llorona“,“Live now, think later“, “Occhi cuisi“ have been performed in well-known theatres (Komische Oper Berlin, Bellas Artes-Mexico, Kremlin-Moskau) by soloists and principals from all over the world.(Elisa Cabrera, Mikhail Kaniskin, Liudmilla Konovalova, Maria Seletskaja, Anastasia Vinakour) and have been received by the public with great enthusiasm. Apart from choreographing for the ballet dancers and ballet companies she is eager to explore and integrate dance in other fields. This could be seen in the projects in which she presented her works like Berlin Fashion Week 2010 or advertisement for Nike Look Book 2013. In the future we expect to see more from her and looking forward for the next creation.
