16TH INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS FILM FESTIVAL “NETWORKING, IDENTITIES IN CONTACT” The International Human Rights Film Festival was born out of the need to widen cultural perspectives with a social focus, through cinematography as a means of increasing cultural sensitivity. As a special thematic and conceptual axis, the International Human Rights Film Festival adopted for this festival the motto “Networking, identities in contact.” It emphasizes how platforms of communication have expanded to create space for the collective construction of individual identities, connected by affinity and necessity, and redefining geographic and cultural distances. To summarize, during the weeklong festival, there were 112 documentaries showcased from 39 countries, of which 34 were part of the Official Competition. Thus the festival presented films of international and national content. Additionally, we welcomed 23 international guests along with 21 national guests. With 11 screens across the city of Buenos Aires and a secondary location in the municipality of Morón in the province of Buenos AIres, we received around 10,500 viewers. In addition to our team of 35 members, we had the support and commitment of more than 130 volunteers collaborating in various areas.

VISUAL REPRESENTATION OF “NETWORKING, IDENTITIES IN CONTACT” SUB PHOTOGRAPHERS COOPERATIVE Accompanying the conceptual frame of the 16th International Human Rights Film Festival in regards to the collective construction of identity and its close connection, The Festival collaborated with the Alliance Française of Buenos Aires to present a photo gallery emerging from the heart of the network: the vision of the Sub Photographers Cooperative. Born in 2004, Sub serves as a space for collaborative work in which ideas and approaches to collective identity are shared and developed through photographic investigation. After lengthy collaboration with the International Human Rights Film Festival, Sub brought to the Festival its vision along with photography in the following categories: Gender Views, Childhood and Youth, Migrants, Panorama, Environment, Native Peoples, Sport and Human Rights, and Schools. “In this type of medium, from subjectivity, we can see the relationship of commitment of the spectators.” -Frecuencia Zero.

“Not everything is constructed from the result. Sometimes, the intervention of laypeople, the simple being in a space, generates an immediate change.” -Diego Marín Verdugo, director of “En el nombre de la copa” (“In the Name of the Cup”).

“We were scared to show our photos. We didn’t know who were benefiting or harming. We didn’t know if by showing these photos of repression, we were numbing society. So we decided not to nurture certain cliches, to look for causes and put issues up for debate, to invite people to think. To show people as fighters, like heroes, not like victims.” -Sub Photographers Cooperative.

SPECIAL ACTIVITIES

WORKSHOPS MEDIA-ACTIVISM: BUILDING THE DEMOCRATIZATION OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION IN THE MEDIA The workshop, carried out in the library of the Alliance Française of Buenos Aires, shared various technologies for the actions of a free press, with the objective of incentivizing free, open, and shared communication. Media-activism is understood as the break between the concept and practice of traditional communication, exposing it as a constructed process that is, above all, political. Through these participatory, open, and horizontal processes, it derives its value from the emancipatory potential of new technologies, cooperation, reciprocity, and of the idea of a common communicative

space to create alternate discourses in the search of social and cultural transformation. The workshop was conducted by representatives of the Facción Latina, a platform that organizes -- from Latin America-- independent networks of media-activism of 19 countries “for a dispute about the symbolic, subjective, political, economic, and social. For a social and cultural transformation. For the construction of new proposals. Thus, for the democratization of information and communication.” In addition, the film “Propaganda,” by Christopher Murray, was shown.

FINCA FAIR FAIR OF ECO-SUSTAINABLE AND SOCIO-COMMUNAL PROJECTS AND PRODUCTS AND SPACE: WOMEN, NETWORKS Sunday, June 21st, a new edition of FINCA FERIA was conducted in the Mercedes Sosa Foundation, in the neighborhood of San Telmo. The fair included stands of independent producers, organic foods, handicrafts, and objects made out of recyclables and trash. It was again a space of exchange and participation among individuals and organizations, green projects. It was a space of self-sustainability and respect for both society and the environment, promoting increased consciousness. To enrich the workshop, the following activities were carried out: a gardening workshop by El Brote Urbano, and showings of the films “Puja" (Push) by Colectivo Puja, "Las formas de nacer, historias de mujeres por el parto respetado" (Ways of Giving Life. Stories of Women for a Respected Choice of Childbirth) by Cooperativa de Comunicación Superficie and "Las que en vida fueran" (“They Were Midwives”) by Xabier Irigibel Urizy and José “Chisco" Arce.

In addition, there was a showing and chat about "Agroecología, el camino hacia una nueva ruralidad,” by Remo Vénica and Irmina Kleiner (Granja Agroecológica Naturaleza Viva). It was granted an outstanding position in Space: Women, Networks and Maternity, with the presentation of the theatrical work “Parir-Nos” by Las Casildas-Teatro Debate and a panel discussion comprised of groups defending respected childbirth.

PROJECT HUMAN RIGHTS TATTOO- TATTOO DAY Three workshops were divided among the Rector Ricardo Rojas Cultural Center and the Mercedes Sosa Foundation. Human Rights Tatoo is an artistic project that seeks to increase consciousness and make salient the importance of Human Rights. The objective is to tattoo on people the complete Universal Declaration of Human Rights, letter by letter. The complete text is comprised of 6,773 letters. Each person receives one character, which means that, at the end, there will be a group of 6,773 people in diverse places all around the world united by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The goal of Human Rights Tattoo is to connect people from the human to the global scale. By tattooing the text of the Declaration, one of the most important in the history of humanity, in a group of 6,773 people around the world, a work of art comes alive which connects these people as a unit: in their beliefs, in what they defend, and in the fact that all of the letters have the same value. This transforms Human Rights Tattoo into a community work of art in its most pure sense: created with, for, and by the community.
