How Do print shop produces St Blaise programmes The HowDo?! print shop is now open for business, offering the best value digital printing in town and the only Risograph printer this side of Pudsey. Already, it is proving to be a massive hit among local artists and designers due to its quirky “screen print” style and bold colour overlays. Risograph printing is environmentally friendly and cost effective as it uses soy-based inks and unlike offset printing it only takes a single print for the screen to be fully inked and ready to print thousands of copies. The Risograph has already been put through its paces with a series of limited edition posters and hundreds of folded maps/programmes for the Bring Back St Blaise Festival 2017; designed by Martyn Johnston and featuring original artwork by Glenn Hustler. Furthermore, a RISO club has been started for members Assembly Bradford to learn and use the print studio for their own projects at cost price.
Plans afoot for Eat:Drink Bradford Volume 2 Festival Publications and FoxDuo Design will once again collaborate to create a second Volume of the popular Eat:Drink Bradford guide. The publication is expected to launch in August and will feature over 100 restaurants, cafes and bars from across the district. Major sponsors already confirmed include Broadway Bradford and Visit Bradford.
Bradford Bakery Opens Our neighbors downstairs at Bradford Bakery held their grand opening in March, meaning Assembly Members are now able to enjoy freshly baked bread and pastries without leaving the building. The cafe is also offering freshly ground coffee, sandwiches and home-made soup.
Keep an eye out for more beautiful flyers and posters about town, and if you’re interested in doing something RISO, get in touch! sales@howdoyorkshire.com

Launch Party
Assembly Bradford Launch Party 10.02.17 More than 60 people attended the Assembly Bradford launch event on Friday 10 February. It was an opportunity for our directors to celebrate their efforts and to showcase the space to potential new members. The evening began with a formal invite-only event which gave local businesses, council staff and family members the chance to see the space for the first time. Food was supplied by the Sweet Centre, while Shipley’s Triangle brought their pop-up bar with a selection of locally-sourced craft beers. The Telegraph & Argus were in the building to report on the launch As the evening moved into nighttime the event took on more of a party vibe, with DJ’s - including Assembly’s very own Haigh Simpson and David Craig - providing entertainment into the early hours. Invited guests included a number of local freelancers who were given the opportunity to meet existing members and sample the friendly atmosphere. It was also a special night for birthday boy and Assembly director Martyn Johnston, who was presented with a special stand pie and a signed high-vis jacket, in recognition of his exemplary attitude towards health and safety. In the weeks following the event Assembly have received dozens of enquiries and welcomed several new members. Not only was the event a successful launch but it has also demonstrated the potential the venue has as an events space, with plans for more Assembly parties a real possibility later in the year...watch this space.

Describe your dream project? Something playful and creative, where I feel like I am part of a team and my skills are valued. There’s a project in the pipeline in itching to tell people about, but I can’t tell you yet! What is the best thing about being based in Assembly Bradford? The community, having access to the equivalent of a full service design agency in the same room, and swing the satisfaction of my coworkers when they win a new project. Where do you want to be in 5 years? Doing what I do now, but even better, and perhaps with an apprentice. Name a guilty pleasure... I’m a bit of a petrol head, so I’d say my un-environmentally car is my guilty pleasure.

Northern Social
Hardcover: 109 pages Publisher: Veen / Reflex; 01 edition (1 Jan. 2001) Language: Dutch ISBN-10: 9063221576
Northern Social is an exciting new games-room style bar situated on Bradford’s High Street of the Year Nominee North Parade. The project started with a brand naming session and after brainstorming ideas and conducting research into the concept of the bar, it was felt that Northern Social had the most connections to what the bar represented. Two easily-remembered words that represent the social aspect of the bar and it’s location at the north of Bradford City Centre, in the North of England. Three brand concepts were put forward, with the final concept combining all the aspects of the initial brand vision. I introduced angled shapes working together to give the visual identity an aspect of motion and created a stacked variation of the logo.
