Editor’s Note In the blink of an eye, summer ended. What an amazing one it was! I hope you managed to get out lots with family and friends and experience some of the fantastic things we had going on in this brilliant town. I suppose this is officially the ‘autumn/ winter’ issue. Our attention shifts more to cosy, indoor activities now and – dare I say it – we start thinking about Christmas. I apologise for the ‘C’ word, but by the time this issue expires, we will almost be there! Terrifying. I’ve put together a mini ‘indie gifts’ Xmas shopping guide if you’re like me and would like to do your bit for our local retailers. We talk a little bit about Harrogate Christmas Market in this issue too. We also have a Harrogate Mumbler piece with some fab family activities ideas for this time of year, with Halloween and bonfire night fast approaching, too. October is a bumper month, with both Harrogate Comedy Festival AND Harrogate Literature Festival happening (How lucky are we!?) – both of which are featured inside. There’s also an interview with Henry Cole and local band, The Paper Waits, plus loads of featured events and listings to inspire your spare time over the coming weeks.

Do you know Harrogate, or do you no idea mate? By DJ Trev Hi friend! Instead of my usual ramble about eating out and/or buying extensive amounts of collectible Star Wars figurines, I thought I would use my intimate knowledge of Harrogate to offer you a vexing and perplexing quiz on the delight of the dales, our magnificent home town. This is in no way whatsoever to be seen as stealth promotion about the fact that I run a pub quiz here, something that I will almost certainly not even mention again in the following 500 words. Put the kettle on, grab a pen and pull up your damn pants as we ask: Do you know Harrogate, or do you no idea, mate? 1.Which wordsmith described Harrogate as: ”the queerest place with the strangest people in it leading the oddest lives“? A: Charles Dickens B: Roald Dahl C: Local author of “The Little Big Beat Book”, Rory Hoy D: The MC out of Scooter 2.Which of the following is true about Harrogate Institution, Bettys? A: It was founded by a woman, Betty B: It was founded by former England manager and owner of Taylors tea, Graham Taylor C: It was founded by an immigrant D: It was founded by the person known as “Mister Tea”, BA Barracus 3.Which of these is a real beer from Harrogate Brewery? A: Pine Woods Porter B: Valley Gardens Dogger C: Cold Bath Gold D: Granby Golden Shower 4.This year students at Killinghall Primary School were, one imagines, delighted to find what in their sports cupboard? A: Sports equipment B: Wild Deer C: A Tardis~ D: Narnia 5.Who presented the “Most Glamorous Grandmother of Great Britain” in 1982, broadcast live from Harrogate on BB2?

A: Russ Abbot` B: Russell Harty` C: Russell Hobbs` D: Ken Wood-Mixer 6.1982 was clearly a big year for Harrogate; which other internationally recognized contest did the town also host? A: The Winter Olympics` B: The Eurovision Song Contest C: The Common Wealth Games D: The inaugural “Most annoying person on Harrogate Grumbler” FaceBook contest that continues to this day 7.Somewhat like my DJing, this quiz seems to have now got stuck in the 80s. In the 80s what film was banned from being shown in Harrogate? A: Fatal Attraction B: 9 ½ weeks C: Monty Pythons Life of Brian D: Two Girls one flat cap. 8.It’s hard to imagine, but there once was actually a period of time before the 1980s. Known as “the past”, this era that went on for weeks. In “the past” Harrogate was in fact 2 small villages. What were they called? A: Bilton & Low Harrogate B: Low Harrogate & High Harrogate C: High Harrogate & Very High Harrogate D: High Harrogate & Totally Wasted Harrogate 10.Harrogate is home to a record 4,386 pub quizzes. DJ Trev, when not talking about himself in the third person, hosts one every Sunday that is ranked in the top 4,385. What pub is it at? A: 10 Devonshire Place B: The Woolpack C: Seriously, why don’t they just pay for advertising like everyone else? D: Frankly I’m surprised he hasn’t mentioned that he DJs at The Foundry Project too. Answers: 1 – a, 2 – c, 3 – c, 4 – c, 5 – b, 6 – b, 7 – c, 8 – b, 9 – ffs, 10 – Devonshire Place Tie Breaker; in the unlikely event that you are doing this quiz with your friends, and in the even less plausible scenario that you have all done equally well, here is a quick-fire tie-breaker: Harrogate is one of England’s most popular Spa Town destinations, what is the name of the Belgian town that Spa Towns are named after?

The Northern Antiques Fair 4-7 November, Harrogate Convention Centre The Northern Antiques Fair, in association with BADA, brings together the best in fine art, design and antiques, from 45 of the UK’s leading dealers, at Hall M, Harrogate Convention Centre, Harrogate, North Yorkshire HG1 2SY from Thursday 4 to Sunday 7 October 2018. Following the success of last year’s relaunch under new ownership and management, the fair encompasses thousands of years of design and craftsmanship to delight both connoisseurs and those simply looking for a shopping experience with a difference. “With this annual event soon upon us, many practical arrangements are under way and we look forward to opening the fair with a full house of exhibitors. The line-up of specialist dealers covers a variety of disciplines from the ancient to the contemporary, stretching from Greek pottery of the late 5th century BC to bronze sculpture cast in the last couple of years. The eclectic mix of objects offered for sale makes the fair a haven for anyone seeking to acquire something unique, providing inspiration and

value across a wide spectrum of art and antiques,” said Ingrid Nilson, Fair Director. Dating back to 1951, the fair has held an enviable reputation in the north of England for being Harrogate’s most prestigious antiques event. The success of last year’s fair has encouraged a good number of dealers from Harrogate, the surrounding areas of Yorkshire and the north of England to rejoin the fair in its new incarnation, and attracted new dealers too. An event with this reputation encourages many of the dealers to hold back their best pieces to showcase at the fair and this year’s highlights include some exciting works including an oil painting by Sir Edwin Landseer RA RI (1802-1873) of A Blenheim spaniel, Mr Plumer’s favourite dog on Rountree Tryon Galleries’ stand. As well as the highlights, the fair abounds with a myriad of fascinating objects from just a few hundred pounds to suit the collector and the enthusiastic antiques’ hunter. www.northernfair.com

Autumn in Harrogate Harrogate and the surrounding areas are beautiful at any time of year, but autumn wins hands down for me. The colours, the weather, Halloween and Bonfire night– everything just makes me want to smile! So wrap up warm, put your wellies on and get out and explore this wonderful town. As well as wrapping up warm, arm yourself with a hot drink. Harrogate is brimming with lovely independent coffee shops. Check out Hoxton North, Baltzersens, Starling Independent Beer and Coffee House, Tilly Peppers and Mrs Smith’s Café. As well as serving top-notch coffee these recommendations are also super child friendly – Mrs Smith’s signature babycinno is a must for any little person! There are plenty of outdoor spaces to enjoy. My tip for autumn is to explore the Stray. The Stray is a long area of public parkland located in the centre of Harrogate. If you are here on Saturday 3rd November – then head down to The Stray from 6pm for The Charity Stray Bonfire, which organised by The Harrogate and District Round Table. The Bonfire is lit at 6.30pm and Fireworks start at 7.15pm. There is no entry fee but donations are welcomed. The bonfire is held on the Stray alongside Oatlands Drive, close to St Aidan’s School. No family visit to Harrogate is complete without a trip to RHS Garden Harlow Carr. Autumn Free Day when, as the name suggests, entry is free, takes place on 2nd October this year. From 27th October to 4th November join in their half-term family fun event, Room on the Broom. Running everyday over half term you can follow a spooky trail around the garden, listen to grizzly tales and take part in some creepy crafting! There are plenty of other Halloween-based activities going on in and around Harrogate. If you’re here over this spooky time of year then we’d recommend you head down to Stockeld Park for their Halloween Adventure, running from 25th -31st October. They

have plenty going on for young ones, such as Meet the Mystery Gang, Spiders in the Maze, Wizard and Witches Spell School and the Halloween Catwalk. If you have older children then stick around in the evening for Fright Night.

Birchfield Farm Pumpkin Festival is a favourite amongst us Harrogate Mumblers. Their Pumpkin Festival takes place on the 13th and 14th Oct and then everyday from 20th – 31st October. You can pick your own pumpkin from the patch where they have been grown then stay and carve it in their very own carving shed. Other activities include riding the pumpkin express, pig racing and ride the grain train. Lightwater Valley – the ultimate family adventure - is located just outside Harrogate in neighbouring Ripon. Over half-term Lightwater Valley becomes Frightwater Valley! There is plenty to do for thrill seekers - my top tip is the Eagles Claw. For junior thrill seekers there’s the Wild River Rapids, as well as indoor and outdoor play areas. If you’re feeling the cold from all these outdoor adventures then there’s plenty going on indoors too. Our top pick is World of Their Own, located on the outskirts of Harrogate. It’s a Wild West Adventure where little outlaws can escape from the Sheriff’s Jail, rob the Wild West Bank and try to keep on their feet in the Rodeo Bounce House! We’d also recommend Pots 2 Go for those raining days, where you can get creative by painting pottery! They also serve hot and cold drinks to enjoy whilst you paint. All these activities are bound to build up an appetite and what better way to feed your hunger than with a big, juicy burger! Our top 3 family friendly burger joints include Burgers and More, SO! Bar and Damn Yankee. All have fab kids menus, but our personal favourite has to be the Unicorn Bread Monster Burgers served at Burgers and More!

Blindspotting

Theatre & Performance Film

Film Review with Henry Thompson Better known for music videos like the striking Me Voy, filmed for Jesse & Joy, MexicanAmerican director Carlos López Estrada brings a stylish and music-influenced perspective to his new film Blindspotting, which first appeared at Sundance in January of this year. The film has been described as ‘comedy-drama’ by critics but Estrada, using experimental visuals backed with a rap and hip-hop soundtrack, brings a fusion of styles that take the film beyond the television-based origins of that label towards a much more genre-busting offering. Co-written by the lead actors Rafael Casal and Daveed Diggs, the film is a part-autobiographical tale of a parolee who witnesses a police shooting just days before the end of his sentence. Diggs had to fit time for filming around his celebrated appearances in the hit musical Hamilton. Blindspotting won’t get a wide release but it’s worth looking out for. By contrast, much press attention will be showered on Mike Leigh, and his new film Peterloo upon its release. Leigh’s back catalogue, including Vera Drake and Mr. Turner confirm him as one of the UK’s leading filmmakers. Starring Maxine Peake and Rory Kinnear, Peterloo recounts a little-remembered bloody episode in British history which played out in Manchester in August 1819, when a government militia charged a peaceful demonstration of some sixty thousand workers and their families who were calling for reform of working conditions and the extension of the vote. At the time, only 2% of the population had the franchise. The resulting deaths and

12

blood-letting propelled the pressure for reform, although the most immediate effect was the emergence of a new daily newspaper advocating reform- the Manchester Guardian. In explaining his interest in the subject area, Leigh has cited parallels with contemporary Britain, noting that issues like the north-south divide and inequalities of wealth are just as relevant and divisive today as they were in 1819. Sicilian-born Luca Guadagnino’’s 2017 release Call Me By Your Name was an enormous critical and commercial success. Whilst a sequel to that film is reportedly in pre-production, the immediate follow-up from Guadagnino- Suspiria- is likely to have a more mixed reception. A remake of a 1977 horror classic by the acclaimed Dario Argento, Suspiria’s story about a dance school and the malevolent supernatural forces therein, functions not just as homage to the original film but to Argento’s distinguished career and indeed to the Italian mode of horror film that he helped shape. Starring Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades franchise) and Tilda Swinton and featuring a soundtrack from Radiohead’s Thom Yorke, Suspiria is mesmerising in its own terms and an impressive step away for Guadagnino from the aesthetic palate used in Call Me By Your Name. Henry Thompson is Research Fellow in film at the University of Manchester. His acclaimed book on American film director Oliver Stone, co-authored with Ian Scott, was released in 2016.

I Used to Hear Footsteps Little Lectures: Caroline Norton

23 October, 7.30pm Harrogate Theatre

3 October, 2.30pm Markenfield Hall, Ripon

Jack’s childhood home was clouded by supernatural goings-on. Haunted by curiosity, he decided to investigate. This show, part lecture, part ghost story, tells us of his findings. Suspend your disbelief and follow the investigation that spirals beyond reason.

Caroline Norton was a Georgian society beauty - born into the Sheridan family of artists and writers, she was hugely talented and incredibly attractive - with a wit to match any man of that time. She married the Hon. George Norton, the brother of 3rd Lord Grantley, and Markenfield is fortunate to hold a considerable number of her writings - letters, poems and plays. Caroline’s looks and her wit attracted many male admirers and after years of simmering jealousy, her husband accused her and Lord Melbourne - the Prime Minister of the time - of “Criminal Conversation” (or adultery as we would know it today). The resulting trial was referred to as “the scandal of the century” and - although acquitted by the jury (in fact the case was thrown out of court) - it left Caroline cut off from her children and bankrupt - as both her children and her earnings were classed as the property of her husband. So began Caroline’s tireless fight for women’s rights - at a time when really they had none. Learn more about Caroline, and why she was so far ahead of her time.

The Mysterium 26 October, 7.30pm Harrogate Theatre Sony award winning Radio 3 and Radio 4 presenter David Bramwell brings you his one-man show based on his best-selling book. He explores some of the strangest stories of our modern age.

Henry Cole: Misadventures on (and off) Two Wheels By Ann Chadwick

Former heroin addict, mates with Liz Hurley and related to Prime Minister William Gladstone. Ann Chadwick spoke to Henry Cole who brings his rollercoaster life to the Raworths Harrogate Literature Festival with his gripping memoir, A Biker’s Life: Misadventures on (and off) Two Wheels.

“I did a movie about my life and that was a f***ing disaster,” Henry Cole says. “It was a disaster because I was talentless as a movie director; I was a good TV commercials and pop promo director, but actually turning a narrative at the age of 28 of that scale about myself with a shit script writer, I really didn’t know at that stage what I was doing.” The movie is the notorious Mad Dogs and Englishman. “The only thing that worked was my friendship with Elizabeth Hurley.” Henry Cole may be snapped in the tabloids with his famous friends, but he hates fame for fames sake. As presenter of the World’s Greatest Motorcycle Rides on the Travel Channel Worldwide, he is one of the most recognisable names in motorcycling. “I’ve experienced it [fame] second hand with a girlfriend years ago, and it’s not a nice place to be man. You know? If you are going to be known for something, then that’s great, okay – if people like you for what you do, or you’re really good at something, or you’re passionate about something, and that leads to being in the public eye then I think one should embrace that. It’s incredibly humbling for me when someone comes up to me in the street and says, ‘mate I love your show.’ But celebrity for celebrity sake is the most vacuous awful place to be, because one it won’t last, two it’s instant gratification that you’re trying to get on a daily basis, and that instant gratification will in the end be incredibly painful when you walk into a film premiere and no paparazzi takes your photo.”

22

Now 54, Henry is in the right headspace to document his life story. “It’s a sort of unusual book I guess, it’s a rollercoaster ride, my life has been a little bit like that. My therapist said to me years ago that you’ve actually been trying to make money all your life out of being a rebel.” A session drummer, news cameraman, film director and now owner of a motorcycle brand and TV host, the book follows his journey shaped by his five-years as a heroin addict as a young man; part of a rebellion against a stifling upbringing. His great, great uncle was Prime Minister William Gladstone. He attended Eton and was the son of an army major. “I was supposed to then go to the army and perhaps go to the City and it all went slightly wrong at Eton when I started smoking weed.” Thirty years clean, his only addiction today is motorbikes. “The reason I wrote this book, mainly is because I felt I had a story to tell of people who have lost their way in life and didn’t really know what they were rebelling against but demanded in some way, however small, to be an individual…Motorcycling is an intrinsic part of that ethos. I think it’s about what it’s like to rebel against conformity and to actually try and live your life, as hard as it may be, as an individual. And that’s what motorcycling is all about, and that’s what my life has been about.”

Today, he says life is good – he still fancies the wife after 20-odd years and the kids are kind of behaving. “I’m content because I made a decision. As an addict and you’re always an addict - it’s just a question of learning not to take drugs as a symptom of being an addict - as an addict, you always look to, or I do, the negative side of life – ‘oh God that trip’s going to be a nightmare’, and you have an irrational fear about so many things, you know. I made a decision a few years ago where one’s getting to the stage in life where if you don’t absolutely at a gut level have gratitude for what you’ve got, which means you’re content, you are totally f***ed, and there is no point in being on this planet.” What does he hope Harrogate audiences will leave with after experiencing his talk?

billions and billions of pounds, because no one’s really getting to grips with it. And it’s the same with mental health stuff, but to me, it’s very dear to my heart, don’t pass over someone with an addictive personality.” “Van Gogh wasn’t normal. Jimi Hendrix wasn’t normal, probably some of the most incredible people in life were addicts – talk to Elton John, talk to Eric Clapton – so don’t think being an addict makes you washed up and socially unacceptable. Channelled in the right way it’s the most fantastic attribute to have. So that’s what I’d like them to take away. And also to go and buy a motorcycle!” Henry Cole is at the Raworths Harrogate Literature Festival on Friday 19 October at 4.30pm, The Crown Hotel. “I hope they’ll have a giggle at my expense but at the same time that they’ll take away that perhaps don’t lose hope on a subculture of society that has an addictive personality. We need to understand that addiction is something that costs society

Exhibitions The Divine Art of Photography Arts

Mercer Art Gallery Two new exhibitions at the Mercer Art Gallery will explore the impact of photography and its emergence as one of the great discoveries of the Victorian age. Julia Margaret Cameron (1815-1879) was a pioneer of the new art of photography and the Divine Art of Photography exhibition shows some of her groundbreaking work. Cameron took up the challenging new technology aged 48 and made more than 1,200 images throughout her career. She experimented with glass plates and chemicals to make her own art, influenced by contemporary painting and poetry. Her close up portraits featured dramatic lighting and a soft focus, which became her signature style. The exhibition also includes fascinating cartes de visites produced by the many photographers’ studios that sprang up in Harrogate to satisfy the fashion for staged portraits set against painted backdrops. A wealth of paintings from the Harrogate Collection look at the ways in which painting and photography have complemented each other too. From Today Painting is Dead looks at how painters use the photograph in their art, and how photographers imitate painterly techniques.

Photo North Festival 9-11 November, Harrogate Convention Centre Photo North are hosting an exciting array of exhibitions; workshops; seminars and book signings from some of the world’s most inspiring artists including: Anastasia Taylor-Lind; Dean Belcher; Jane Hilton; Jenny Matthews; Peter Dench; Tom Oldham; Tom Stoddart; Paula Bronstein; Poulomi Basi and more, in store, for all who attend. The Curators, Peter Dench and Sharon Price, are working tirelessly to create a lively festival where everyone feels welcome with something for all: inspiring exhibitions, book and zine stalls; workshops; photo-walks; talks from world renowned photographers; portfolio reviews; live music events; a licensed bar and much more.

Harrogate and Nidderdale Art Club The Harrogate and Nidderdale art club has just started its 82nd season, having been formed in 1936 and eventually taking its present day name. The club has around 90 enthusiastic members, is probably the foremost club in Harrogate for amateur artists and is proud to have Sir Thomas Ingilby (of Ripley Castle) as patron. The club meets weekly on a Thursday evening at 7pm with a programme of events from the start of September until the end of June. The current venue is Harrogate Grammar School on Arthurs Avenue in Harrogate. A widely varied schedule of events is arranged each year with demonstrations and workshops run by professional artists, talks, club nights where members can paint and draw on a given theme and also nights where club members share their skills and enthusiasm by providing workshops or talks. There is something for everyone whatever your standard and whatever your interest and it is a good place to learn. Whilst members primarily come from the Harrogate and Nidderdale areas, we also have members from other parts of North Yorkshire and also Leeds and York. Our members range in age from their twenties to their eighties, with a common love of art and all its facets. We welcome members of all abilities, from novice to professional and our more

experienced members are happy to share their skills and expertise with all. Several of our members have had work exhibited in the Biennial Harrogate Open competition. The Club holds two exhibitions each year, in the Spring and Autumn. These are held in the Ripley Town Hall and whenever possible Sir Thomas attends to choose and award one of our prizes. The range of work is extensive, with our members using many different media – for example charcoal, pastel, acrylic, watercolour, oil – and many different subjects and styles from abstract, impressionistic through to realism. Often there are over 200 pieces of framed artwork, most for sale, with around 40 to 50 different artists contributing. In addition there are also unframed paintings and greeting cards to view and buy. The club has also made links with other local groups and organised themed exhibitions. To celebrate the hosting of “Le Grand Depart “ in 2015 it held a special competition relating to the Tour de France. It has also had exhibitions relating to the Harrogate Pinewoods Conservation trust and the Friends of Valley Gardens Japanese Garden restoration project, and has exchanged paintings with our twinned club in Canada – Barrie Art Club. www.handart.co.uk

“One of the best things about music is the people - The Paper Waits By Rachel Auty

30

Harrogate acoustic songwriting duo, The Paper Waits, have come a long way since they found a shared passion for music and began playing together in 2014. Earlier this year they released their debut EP, Perfect Storm. I caught up with the people behind the dreamy sound, Ellie Hunzinger and Rufus Beckett.

What’s been your favourite local gig?

{E} We were introduced at a party by a mutual friend. I then went to an open mic that Rufus was running and before we knew it we were writing songs together. We became The Paper Waits in 2015.

{E} We supported the brilliant Ben Ottewell at the Feva Festival in 2015 and it was the first time we realised that we should start taking everything more seriously. Before this moment, we were really just doing it because we loved it. We weren’t looking for validity, but as soon as we noticed how much people connected with us, everything shifted.

What’s been your high point since then? And a low point? {E} A huge high point was definitely releasing the EP earlier this year. We were overwhelmed with the support and the amount of people that showed up at North Bar that night to support us! {R} Low point? In the beginning it was frustrating as Ellie worked away in Asia sometimes with her job (as well as living in Oxford!) and we kept having to turn down BBC Introducing gigs and interviews (Jericho Keys will agree!). Although a it was a low point, it did encourage us to crack on and work on a recording project whenever Ellie could make it back at weekends. Which band do you most admire and why? {E} Angus and Julia Stone - an Australian brother and sister folk and indie duo, formed in 2006. They both have their separate unique projects as well as writing effortlessly beautiful songs together. What do you think about the local music scene in Harrogate? {R} It’s incredibly underrated by most. If you search for it, there is so much stuff going on. Homefire studios is producing cutting edge music by a range of exciting artists. Warehouse have regular high-profile acts. Alex from Hell Fire Jack organises a successful monthly gig at The Regency. There is also stuff going on at Bilton Working Men’s Club, Henshaws, and of course The Blues Bar! There are regular nights and ad hoc nights. There’s so much great quality live music in this town, it’s superb.

Music

How did The Paper Waits begin?

What has The Paper Waits been up to lately? {R} We’ve been quite quiet on the gig scene at the moment as we have been in the studio a lot writing and putting finishing touches to our next single, Somewhere Somehow. Over the next year we want to get onto the festival scene. A slot at events like Boomtown Fair and Kendal Calling would be amazing. Watch this space…. What’s your biggest piece of advice for someone starting out in the music industry today? {E} Ignore the haters. Focus on your art. Stay true to your sound but allow yourself room to grow. Persevere with your own sound and don’t allow opinions to change you, but at the same time be open to working with others. There is sometimes a frustration that comes with working with others but it’s a great learning curve and process. You won’t get far without the help of others and don’t forget one of the best things about music is all the people you meet along the way. For more visit www.facebook.com/ thepaperwaits. Caro Emerald

19 October, 8pm, Blues Bar

6 October, 8pm, Harrogate Theatre

2003 Chris King Robinson’s musical career may have started at age 9 when he got hold of his first Fender Stratocaster, but his love of the blues began at a much earlier age; growing up listening to guitar legends such as: Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix & Buddy Guy etc. Fast forward to 2011 when after 1000’s of hours were spent learning his craft and dozens of clips uploaded to YouTube, Chris was awarded the accolade of being one of the top undiscovered guitarists worldwide by the acclaimed international music photographer Robert Knight; who in partnership with guitar manufacturer Fender was searching the globe to find the next great guitarist. In 2013, Chris’ online popularity began to soar, after gaining millions of hits on YouTube he quickly established himself as Twitter’s most followed blues guitarist worldwide, such interest encouraged Chris to self- produce and release his first single entitled: ‘Lipstick On Her Cigar’. On the 20th November the single hit No.1 on the iTunes &Amazon Blues charts, after just one day of sales. In 2014, huge public demand for live performances led Chris to form his own 4-piece group: ‘The Chris King Robinson Band’ which quickly gained recognition as one of the most exciting live bands in the country.

Following 5 star reviews and sold out shows across the board, the gorgeous and stylish Caro Emerald is back with a brand new live UK tour for 2018. Since the release of the 2010 multi-platinum debut album Deleted Scenes From The Cutting Room Floor Caro Emerald and producers Grandmono have fashioned their own niche, blending retro jazz with sampling and modern pop, starring Caro s exceptional vocals. The result is a truly unique signature sound. After a string of sold out tours and performances at festivals throughout Europe including Glastonbury and Isle of Wight, Caro has made her mark.
