FetchEdge mission is to promote originality, individuality and acceptance of self.
“Bridging the gap between cultures while promoting an acceptance of self and appreciation of expressionism.-FetchEdge
I am Ashley Curtis. “Life is my fashion and the world is my runway.” If I had to use one word to explain my personality it would be idiosyncratic. I am an individualist, I love art, and philosophy is my passion. I am obsessed with the concept of growth and self-fulfillment. I truly believe whatever you desire the universe conspires to make it happen. The perfect word I would use for my style is “eclectic.” Fashion for me is an art. Art is a sense of expressionism so my mood reflects my style, which is really versatile and ever evolving. I am very chic with a modern urban edge and I’m girly so I’m forever known to glam it up with red or pink lipstick. One day I will be known as the most fashionable philanthropist.
I am Carlisa Pridgen. When I was younger I never looked like the next person. I never wanted the "hottest" trends because I knew that would lead me to look like everyone else. Therefore, when getting dressed, I put on anything that coincides with my mood. Style is a piece of artwork and all of my outfits are a different masterpiece. To be honest, I do not care about what people think or say about me. . I just want everyone to be original. I despise those who look like the next person. Do things that no one else would think of; show your confidence. Most importantly, be a free thinker. I love thinking "outside of the box" and learning what most people wouldn't even imagine thinking about. I have come to the realization that I have two passions: law and fashion. I will use my strengths in both areas to make myself a better person as well as those around me. I will always be the best because I only surround myself with the best. I believe everyone has a talent and when he or she finds out what that may be, use it to inspire and to change the world.

Of
Let us, FetchEdge, break down the definition of Fashion, in case you are confused. Fashion is nothing more and nothing less than expressionism. It is a form of expression that only you have the ability to control. Some people are predisposed to be controlled, to be something other than themselves but it is up to us "Free Thinkers" to give those overly controlled individuals passion and inspiration to think outside of the box. Most importantly to be themselves. We once heard someone contradict them selves by saying, "Being fresh and being fashionable is a difference." For the person who said this, you are below basic. Nine times out of ten a person who is labeled as "Fresh" looks up to someone who is fashionable. They emulate them, but makes sure to put their own twist to their wardrobe. This is because they still have a sense of self. They know who they are and their wardrobe is one way they express that. It's simply an art form. Let me reassure you that the so-called "Fresh" individuals that you see know aspects of fashion. No doubt, they live and breathe it. We will argue that wearing top designs will not deem you "Fashionable". We have been in the presence of an individual who wore Rock and Republic jeans, with a Louis Vuitton belt and pocket chain, an all white over-sized Gucci V-neck, with an Yves Saint Laurent broach, and Cesare Paciotti designer shoes. It was the worst outfit! It screamed "Hey, look at me, I have on expensive designer clothes!" It was terrible and tacky! Very fashion ignorant. Let us make it clear that there is no price tag when it comes to fashion. In other words, do not think you can only be fashionable if you sport the top designers. Fashion, much like expression, has no limits. You can shop at the Goodwill and still be considered "Fashionable". It all depends on the person and how they express themselves.

INTERVIEW WITH A
BAD GIRL
We were recently inLos Angeles and had the pleasure of catching up with
Jade Bennett
from Bad Girls Club Season 6. She just finished up recording the Bad Girls Club reunion and we got an exclusive interview.
Hello Jade, how are you?
What did you like and dislike about the show?
I'm fine!
“
Cool, you just finished taping the Bad Girls Club Reunion, how was that? The reunion was really exciting. When I get into the vibe, it really brings out the bad in me. I don't want to ruin the surprise. You just have to see it. My dress was really cute though!
On the show I wore parachute pants that I got from Buffalo Exchange on Melrose. My heels were from Bakers. I would describe my style as hippie vintage meets glam. Okay, okay, so let’s go back to the beginning...What made you audition for the Bad Girls Club in the first place? I watched all of the previous seasons. If something has me glued to the television every Monday night made me want to know what it was like, to see how it goes and I wanted to be on the show. I sent in my bio and they picked me. Was this your first time trying out for a reality television? Yes, it was but it was not my first time being behind cameras. I did a Fashion Show for Snoop Dogg in 2008.
What happened in the house that wasn’t aired for viewers to see?
I WAS SO DRUNK, I DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING. IT WAS LIKE "F&#K, I'M LEAVING THE HOUSE."
MY MOM IS GOING TO SEE THIS!
I EVEN PRAYED TO GOD. I KNEW I COULDN'T DO IT ANYMORE; IT WAS ME.
While you were on Bad Girls Club, what did you think about the other girls in the house?
“
As the most FASHIONABLE Bad Girl we know you had to have rocked the show what did you wear?
I liked that it gave me other opportunities. I’m glad to be apart of this cast. Being on Bad Girls Club got me exposed to many different things. What I disliked were the restrictions. The show is supposed to make the girls better, but putting me in the house didn't make me a better person. Also, living 30 minutes away made it difficult. It would've been different if I left Milwaukee to come to L.A.
When I went into the house I was drunk. I didn't get a chance to meet them. When I left, I had no problem with anyone. Me and Nicki didn't get a long at first, but we squashed it. I was in the house for 7 days so I couldn't really have any feeling towards anyone. I was too drunk the first night to have thoughts about the other girls.
I actually went out with the other girls. I had good times. What thoughts were going through your mind when you decided to leave the show? I was so drunk, I didn't know anything. It was like "Fuck, I'm leaving the house." My mom is going to see this! I even prayed to God. I knew I couldn't do it anymore; It was me. Were you compensated for your time on the show? Can't talk about that. If you had the opportunity would you go back on the show? Yep! All over again. I would be a little sober. Everything was so surreal. I was nervous. It was like WOW! Drinking was taking my nervousness out. So, How is life after the Bad Girls Club? We hear you have a calendar coming out?
My life is still the same. People recognize me now. I'm the same old person. I’m hosting a lot of parties now and I have been given a lot of opportunities. My calendar will be released around the time of the reunion. The reunion will be aired April 25, 2011. How can fans and readers reach you? SHOPPING AND FINDING THINGS TO WEAR IS ONE OF THE SIMPLEST TASKS, PEOPLE THINK AND TRY TOO HARD, CONSEQUENTLY THEY MAKE SHOPPING DIFFICULT AND OFTEN TIMES END UP WITH A DISASTER! "FASHION" SHOPPING IS EASILY COMPARABLE TO GROCERY SHOPPING. THINK ABOUT IT, YOU SHOP FOR AS MUCH MULTI-PURPOSEFUL FOOD THAT
GOES WITH KEY ITEMS (I.E. MEATS AND BREADS) SO YOU CAN GET AS MUCH OUT OF THAT MEAL AS POSSIBLE. SHOPPING IS THE SAME WAY. YOU SHOP FOR KEY PIECES AND OTHER VERSATILE PIECES TO GET AS MANY OUTFITS AS POSSIBLE. THE BIGGEST MISTAKE PEOPLE MAKE IS SHOPPING FOR OUTFITS, OPPOSED TO PIECES.

HOMETOWN: Milwaukee, WI AGE: 22 INSPIRATION: Creativity [of any form]
The creative energy doesn't stop at the arts (dance, music, visual art, etc...) But it leaks over into a lot of different professions and careers. Like I just randomly picked up this whole cooking thing. Its so many creative things you can do in a kitchen that only a chef would know. So I feel a Detective can have a creative approach to solving crimes, an accountant can have creative methods during audit time. Professors can have creative techniques to teach a class. Shit, even a prisoner has a creative way of serving his/her time. Creativity flows! And without my creative imaginative weird ass mind, who knows where I'd be. So yea lol that's my inspiration, for now at least... “Young and dumb” is what many individuals say about the African American youth amongst this country. Robbery, drug dealing, murder, and other senseless acts of violence are becoming the norm in our urban communities. Although everyone has something to say about these issues its rare to meet someone who is willing to put in the work and actually do something about it. My life has been better than a lot of my peers but at the same time I have dealt with each and every issue that effect our communities. “The Boys” is what we all went by. I never thought in a million years that any man or woman would be strong enough to tear us apart. No situation could come between us, and if it did we could work it out…we always did. But now it’s different. “I’m never going to jail!” is what we often said to one another, although we often said we weren’t going to end up like that, we seemed to forget that things are easier said than done. My lil’ brother Mike, Vidal, Kevin, Roberto, my lil’ cousin Darrien, and myself would die for one
other, true love at it’s best! Whether we were playing ball, chasing girls, doing schoolwork, or going to church, we were always together; Until now of course. Out of the six of us that formed this band of brothers, three have been incarcerated. Of those three, all of them are felons, one of them is my lil’ brother, and another is a two-time felon now facing 24 years for the murder of his own cousin. Where we went wrong, I have no idea, but to sit back and let this seemingly endless cycle continue is not why I was placed on this earth. I grew up understanding that you believe half of what you see and none of what you hear and this is the main reason as to why I have decided to tell the story of my life. No one knows your struggle if you continue to hold every ounce of emotion in, and no one can grow or expect change if you aren’t using your story as wisdom for the next man. Everyone has a purpose and I think after dealing with the secret pain that lies beneath my immense heart and treasured smile, I have finally stumbled upon mine...

can one fathom hearing that they will be locked in an environment similar to a zoo for more years than they have even been living on this earth? Honestly, I have no idea. “Lockdown!”….pshh that aint for me, and up until a few years ago, that wasn’t us. See we weren’t always friends, well Kevin and myself have known each other since we were 4, I have know Mike and Darrien there entire lives and I met Roberto and Vidal in the 7th grade. Kevin always annoyed me, couldn’t stand him actually. His obnoxious personality could outshine the sun on the hottest day in July and I couldn’t deal with it everyday. I would try to avoid ‘em, but I obviously wasn’t able to shake the big fella and to this day I still wonder how he kept this personality up for this many years without me killing him! “28 years…it’s like he ain’t even hear nothing I said”. These were the first words I heard my best friend say after his sentencing and his hopeless, lifeless tone left me speechless; trying to shape my mouth in a way that maybe the right words would just pour out, but nothing happened. Instead I sat there, holding the phone, listening to every emotion spill from his soul as if he were trying to fill a 12ft swimming pool. My initial response was, “Stay strong Vidal, everything will be alright…” but I sit back and ask myself if this statement is believable. Did I say it because it sounds good because I definitely don’t’ believe everything will be alright. How

HOMETOWN: Philadelphia, PA AGE: 17 STYLE: Cityscape, Portrait, 3-D PIECE DE RESISTANCE: Nikon D40, Nikkor VR, DX 55-200mm lens, Achiever TZ-250 Flash EXPERIENCE: 2 years [3 in August] INSPIRATION: I guess I am inspired by a number of things. On a grand
scale it can be my environment, those around me, and the places I've been, things I've done and all the etceteras. And to be more specific? I am inspired by people like James Jebbia (founder of Supreme New York), Ghostface Killah, Nas, Martin Scorcese, Pimp C, Anthony Casso (New York crime boss), Sheldon Abba (former employer, founder of AUF Philadelphia). People who stepped into a field of work and rather than working for success, they made success work for them. I see it like this, when doing something, especially something creative, you have to jump into things head first. This (photography) is not something that you can ease around and play safe, you have to take risks, you have bend a few corners and swim in deep waters. There have been many times, even at the age of 17, that I have been out working and have though
"What the hell have I gotten myself into?". I've been ill prepared for photo shoots, assignments, concert coverage, all of that. But I have always seemed to make things work, and have grown over time. You can't work for the industry, you have to make the industry work for you. I think Jay-Z or somebody said that, but regardless of who said it, it's very true. Another great inspiration, as clichĂŠ as it may sound, is my parents. My father was a photographer back in the 70's while in school, and my moms always took photos while I was growing up. I was never FULLY aware of it then, but looking back at the plethora of photos of my youth, and
seeing how vigorously I take photos now I see where it comes from. A lot of the equipment I use was handed down to me from my pops, my flashes, a few film cameras I use recreationally, and a few lenses. I also think inspiration comes from the people around you. I have great friends and a great support system. It's crazy how many people show love in some sort of way whether it is through emails, phone calls, Twitter, and all the etceteras. I always get told that for me to be so young and so active in something like this, doing work for companies and what not, it's amazing. "I
wish I was this ambitious at your age." is something that gets thrown around a lot. I don't know, I don't see myself as a prodigy of any kind; I'm just a 17-year-old Philadelphia native with a good eye really. I guess
that's also what keeps me motivated. Friends and family, complete strangers, anonymous people on Tumblr, people on the street and as of late public transportation. My parents always tell me I have this aura about me, I draw people in, I attract people regardless of what I'm doing. I pretty f*** with anybody who f**** with me to be honest. I always check in with friends and see what projects they're up to, browse the many sites/blogs I read daily and seeing people I know and I am in close contact with progress and develop it makes me want to just work harder. So much so I lose sleep over it because I'm up all night working on photos and what not. I like to keep my mind healthy and my heasstrong. There's that saying when you get older that "Your sanity is the first thing to go." and I just look at it like, if that's the case, let me wise up now so at least when I get older once that happens I'll still have a good screw or two in place. The photos of myself are just portraits I've taken over time. Some days I'll get home, set up my tripod and play some music and take photos of myself. As narcissistic and vain as it may sound ď ł
ď ł
The photo with the green lighting shining down on a bearded man actually happens to be a photo of Stalley, Ohio-native and up-and-coming rapper. I had the pleasure of covering a show of his while interning in Philadelphia last summer for AUF Philadelphia. Meeting him before and after the show was definitely the greatest privilege of it. One of the more humble hip-hop artists who has gotten quick fame. You can tell he hasn't become complacent by his success and just looks to make more of it. Also a great performance.

COWAN HAIR STYLIST
AGE: 22 EDUCATION: Graduated from Vanderbilt University May 2010 Currently enrolled in Paul Mitchell The School of Nashville's Cosmetology Program
AESTHETICS: MARJORIE COWAN | BIO I became fascinated with hair at a very early age after mimicking my grandmother's hand technique while hot combing and marcel ironing my sister's hair. By the age of 9 (4th grade) after reading my grandmother's quilting book I learned how to do my first French braid. I began trying all kinds of braiding techniques and eventually mastered corn row extensions and micros by the age of 11. When I turned 12 I began shying away (slightly) from ethnic, natural hairstyles and wanted to learn more about other types of hair. During my high school career I focused heavily on my studies as I wanted to be successful academically but still managed to develop my hobby, hair. I eventually mastered the marcel stove irons at age 14 after turning my mother's hair gold in a few places and by the age of 15 I had accomplished the relaxer application, created my own cutting technique, and mastered weave extensions or what we know them as today, "Sew-ins." Throughout college I was known as the "dorm-tician," the dorm beautician when you're a college student on a budget. Classmates brought the materials and I did their hair. My plan in college was to be a lawyer and after several internships with several fortune 100 companies, it was later revealed to me that I should follow my heart and study cosmetology. Although a Dean's list student, hair was the only thing in college that I was really passionate about. Since I was just about finished with school I decided to complete my education at Vanderbilt and try attending the Harvard of hair schools, Vidal Sassoon, in London. I soon discovered that if I wanted to practice hair in the United States I had to get my license in the U.S. and could not get my license out of the country due to government regulations. I found there was a Vidal Sassoon academy in Los Angeles however I later discovered Paul Mitchell another excellent institution was located 15min from Vanderbilt. Since I had lived here for several years and had already established a network and had a steady income, I decided to attend Paul Mitchell the School of Nashville. The education I am receiving at this institution is none other. Upon

completion of the program at Paul Mitchell I will take advanced training in London at the Vidal Sassoon Academy.
Q&A
WITH
MARJORIE COWAN
What are your sources of inspiration in reference to your craft? Everything in life is an inspiration to me. From buildings and statues to the cracks in the sidewalks, I am inspired by it all. Many times when I am styling hair the "craft" just kind of happens naturally. I rarely plan my styles prior to doing them. I may have an idea in mind and then change my mind midway. I kind of just dig right into it and go with the flow. When I think about it, it's actually ironic that when styling hair I have an extemporaneous attitude, but when I am not styling hair I am the complete opposite. If you ask anyone I know they will tell you "Marjorie plans everything!" I guess when you're doing what you love and are passionate about it, you don't have to think about it because it naturally makes sense to you. What are some of the things you do to stay afloat with the frequent changes of styles & trends in the hair industry? Doing your research is the key to being successful in the industry. In this industry you have to know everybody and everything. With all the information available on the web, anybody can learn how to do anything. It is therefore important to constantly find ways to differentiate yourself and what you do so that as an artist you maintain that competitive advantage. Another key ingredient to being a successful artist in the industry is through education because it is endless. Today, similar to a bachelor's degree, a cosmetology license alone is not enough. Styles, techniques, and applications are constantly changing. I keep a flexible and open-mind to keep up in the industry. Affiliations and networks are also very important. As an affiliate of Paul Mitchell I have access to some of the country's top Beauty industry leaders like Takashi Kitamura, Ira Pope Sage, Vivienne MacKinder, Ladonna Dryer, Kevin Michaels, Kelly Cardenas, Robert Cromeans and more! Lastly, I would say being humble helps an artist stay afloat. This portion (remove) is so important because it shows those already established that you respect and recognize them as a artist that has years of experience and also shows that you understand the importance of paying your dues to the industry.
In 3-5 years I will have completed my advanced education and plan to either be working on sets for movies and (t) Television shows on the west coast or performing editorial work for magazines and fashion shows on the east coast. I am also not opposed at all to working outside the country. Honestly speaking, the opportunities in the industry are limitless if you go after them. On any given day an artist could receive a phone call or meet a contact that changes their life. For now I will continue to build my portfolio on a regular basis, further develop my network, attend trade shows, assist in fashion/hair shows, and continue to invest in advanced education. Is there any celebrity in particular that you would like to work on? The more celebrity names you have in your portfolio, the more credible you become as an artist. Many celebrities have stylists that have been styling their hair since the beginning of time. I would actually like to work under stylist Neeko who is well respected and works with top celebrities such as Halle Berry, Tyra Banks, and Executive Producer of "The Game," Mara Brock Akil. After working with a respected stylist in the industry I would not mind working with an up-and-coming artist who is not quite at "celebrity status" but has a promising future.
DOING YOUR RESEARCH IS THE KEY TO BEING SUCCESSFUL IN THE INDUSTRY.
Where do you see yourself with in the hair industry in the next 3-5 years?
What advice and/or tips would you give to aspiring hairstylist? What is gained in your education and career is determined by your input. Passion lies within you, not others. Your dreams are your dreams for a reason. Everyone is not optimistically receptive to your goals and plans. Manage your time wisely and maximize your potential. Never become complacent. Education is important. Be confident not cocky. Your talent alone will not gain you respect. Know that you are nothing until you've done something but know nothing last forever. Be okay with being docile and humble. As a stylist you are always a work-in-progress. Be prepared at any given moment but also know that being in this industry requires you to take risks. Are you ready?...Get ready.

Although I liked the idea, my interest in the subject didn’t peak until high school after I learned the basics of design in a class. Shortly thereafter learning the basic I began to design my very own earrings! It only took a few compliments and, “girl… where did you get those [earrings]? ” before I knew this could possibly become a profitable business. My grandmother, a very experienced jewelry maker, aided my ability to use different techniques-she took me on as a young apprentice! Challenging my creativity, she taught me to think outside the box and design things I felt were unique and timeless.

POLITICS MADE COOL and Tsunami and how it affects the US JAPANEarthquake magnitudes, imagine a 30-foot tsunami crashing into the area hitting the shores of Japan at a whopping 500mph.
Greetings FetchEdge readers! I am Gionni Carr also known as “C-4 Punchlines,” here to bring you the latest, and greatest news and updates in the wide world of politics. You’re are probably wondering why you should take time out of your busy day to worry about silly old politics, right? Well wonder no more! Politics are not only cool, but also essential to your day-to-day activities no matter what line of business you are in. For Instance, let’s examine the recent tragedy that struck Japan and the affects that it has on our local politics. Friday, March 11th, 2011 at 2:46pm, Japan witnesses the largest earthquake it has seen to date. Imagine this scenario; you are sitting at work, when all of a sudden a magnitude 9.0 earthquake begins to rattle the ground for an estimated 5 minute span. But wait, this wasn’t all that Mother Nature had in store for Japan. Aside from the six aftershocks that all registered at least 6.3
Needless to say, our hearts and prayers go out to all of the citizens and victims of Japan during their time of need. As of March 16th, 7,000 people have been reported dead and upwards of 10,000 people are still reported missing. By now, you are probably reading this and saying, “Dude, what does this have to do with U.S. Politics?”
were damaged. There have been high levels of radiation detected in Fukushima-Daiichi. Human exposure to radiation can result in cancer or even death. Officials are trying desperately to cool the nuclear reactors and get the situation under control. Here in the U.S., there are an estimated 104 nuclear reactors. Currently, one-fifth of our country’s electricity is the direct result of nuclear power. And did I mention how expensive building a nuclear reactor would be? In case you are wondering,
Well, Japan in currently in a state of recovery from the recent earthquake and tsunami disaster, however, there is still an ongoing threat that continues to plague Japan.
each reactor has a price tag of $10 billion dollars. And guess who funds them? If you answered “The American Taxpayer,” you would be correct.
The Fukushima-Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant poses a prominent threat to not only the people of Japan, but citizens in neighboring regions. As a result of the earthquake and tsunami, several of the nuclear reactors

have occurred in America. What if it was our Nuclear reactors that were facing partial meltdown and it were our citizens who faced the risk of nuclear exposure? And furthermore, you have to assume if something with a $10 billion price tag is damaged, that it would not be cheap to repair. More government and taxpayer money spent would be spent on repairs that could have been put towards education, defense, etc. As a result of the Japan events, our government is taking a stronger look at the lessons learned and the potential scenarios that could occur if this were to happen on our homeland. You can assume the opponents of more nuclear energy dependence will try to use the fear factor of what happened in Japan to fuel their argument. On the reverse side, proponents of increased nuclear energy dependence will use Japan as a learning tool to implement more safety regulations and more emergency preparedness strategies. Whether the U.S. will move towards more nuclear energy dependence or away from it has yet to be seen; but you can bet that the recent events from Japan and the information gained from it will play a vital role one way or the other. Thus making politics EXTREMELY essential, important, and most of all, COOL!
HIP HOP VS CIVIL RIGHTS
|CONVERSATION STARTER|
Even now, people of all generations can agree that the events of 1950s and 1970s have been influential on the nation, especially the African American community. On the contrary, in a new, young, and most importantly, more impressionable generation, one may argue that the event of 1979 single handedly changed not only a nation, but shaped a world. The Civil Rights Movement or the Emergence of Hip Hop? The question is simple; the answer, not so much... THE CONVERSATION

DON'T CHASE MONEY
prah once said that the key to happiness is to find something you love doing, then figure a way how to make money doing it. Those who spend their life chasing money will never really obtain true happiness or financial freedom. It is true that what you concentrate on will be your reality but what people fail to realize is that when they chase money they are mainly chasing it because of its lack. When you concentrate on what you don’t have you will continue to attract more of not having.
People who are money hungry and have the association with money as if they need it and have a dependency on it, will continue to just chase the money away. this need and dependency breeds a sense of having to do anything for money which never leads to happiness. Money is not the answer to all problems it is merely a tool that can assist. The key is to find your passion. Once passion is involved you begin to have a sense of ownership and dedication to what you are doing. When you appreciate what you are doing, you begin to attract more of it, which begins to create your happiness. When you’re happy with the job you do, you tend to go above and beyond and stress in your life becomes non existent. Passion creates a domino effect that works positively and creates a sense of worth and pride for what you do. If you think of the 80% of the workforce who are not satisfied with what they are doing, I can almost guarantee you that
none of them are living their passion. They somehow abandoned their dreams for what they were told was a good paying job. When you are passionate about what you do, long hours are not long hours, it becomes a necessary part of getting the job done which you are more than willing to do. Money should never be your objective. Do it for the love and the money will come easily. -Ash’Cash

MEMBER PLATE A little over a month ago, controversy arose in Mississippi over a license plate. Yes, I said it, a license plate! Sources contend the Mississippi Division of Sons of Confederate Veterans have proposed to sponsor specialty plates marking the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. They want to create a series from now until 2015, with Confederate Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest, an early Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan. Leaders in the African American community were and still are in an uproar about the entire ordeal. NAACP president Derrick Johnson stated “seriously? when he was informed about the plate. With all of this being said, the question of, have we honestly progressed as a people, arises. And with that progression, are we respected, and if not, how do we acquire and maintain that respect?

BLACK MALE LOST
THE ROLE OF THE BLACK MALE What has happened to the role of the Black male? With the emergence of Hip Hop and Pop culture, some may say that the position of African American men has been lost. Bling influenced; fast money motivated; disrespectful mentality. Are these the primary aspects that envelope our Black males today? Have women given up on making them accountable for their actions therefore in
return, causing them to disown the values and morals that make them men in the first place? As a people, has the African American community become lazy with forcing our Black men to act as, just that, a man? Regardless if these are reasons or excuses, in the days of our first African American male president, Black men have more than the ideal role model. So with that, what’s to be said about the young man who is running the streets right now as this article is being written?

LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP
You are away at school and he’s back at home. You all are 567 miles apart and you’re trying to stabilize a relationship. You fight every other day, and he does not answer when you call because he’s busy and vice versa. Sexually and emotionally you two are frustrated. Honestly, can a man and a woman actually maintain a relationship being so many miles apart? And if so, even with technology, have individuals become so reliant on these avenues that they denied and deprived their partners of the love, romance, passion, and realness of a traditional relationship? THE OVERVIEW THE ALCHEMIST By Paulo Coelho
“My heart is afraid that it will have to suffer," the boy told the alchemist one night as they looked up at the moonless s k y. " Te l l y o u r h e a r t t h a t t h e fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams." Every few decades a book is published that changes the lives of its readers forever. The Alchemist is such a book. With over a million and a half copies sold around the world, The Alchemist has already established itself as a modern classic, universally admired. Paulo Coelho's charming fable, now available in English for the first time, will enchant and inspire an even wider audience of readers for generations to come.
Andalusian shepherd boy who yearns to travel in search of a worldly treasure as extravagant as any ever found. From his home in Spain he journeys to the markets of Ta n g i e r s a n d across the Egyptian desert to a fateful encounter with the alchemist. The story of the treasures San tiago finds along the way teaches us, as only a few stories have done, about the essential wisdom of listening to our hearts, learning to read the omens strewn along life's path, and, above all, following our dreams.

GET PRISSY THE PRICE OF FEAR I am terrified.
Like, clamoring under all the covers, curl up in the fetal position; sleep in the bed with my mama TERRIFIED about what the fuck I’m supposed to do with my life and how I’m supposed to do it. I’m terrified that nobody will believe in me, or that everyone will leave me when I need them most. I’m scared that the people who don’t like me—the ones who hate me for a good reason, a bad reason, and for no reason at all—will keep everybody from liking me. Perhaps most of all, I’m terrified that I’ll lose my best friend in the process, because two people can’t build two separate empires and a shared life from the ground up at the same time. I’m scared that other people who have my dream will beat me to my own destiny. I’m ashamed to admit that I’m taking too long to get started, but I fear that if I start one thing and it’s wrong that it will be too late to go back and correct it. I’m scared to make mistakes. I’m scared of everything. I’m afraid that I’ll get complacent and get frustrated and get scared and get weak and burn myself out and settle for a life that’s good enough. Respectable—one where no one will be able to say, “Oh, she’s doing bad.” And I’ll just quit pushing ahead. I may be too legit to quit—this regular lifestyle. I made good grades, stayed in school, graduated; went to college, graduated again, on time with an Honors degree; got a job, with salary, and benefits; made it into grad school, and am currently working on (though not necessarily pursuing) an advanced degree. I have just enough perks to keep me comfortable; everything I need to trick me into complacency. In 23 years of life, I’m afraid I’ve been too good at doing things traditionally. Average. But I just can’t stop here. This is not for me. For me to truly be satisfied, I know I’ve got to live the life that I’ve always lived in my head: busy all the time, working all the time, waking up to work, falling asleep in work, ripping and running constantly, flying here, traveling there, meeting about this, deciding upon that, speaking here, endorsing that, writing this and releasing that. Just living a fabulously busy, complicated, successful life. But then I’m afraid I’ll get that and lose everything else. Everything in life has a price; every gift comes with a curse. I guess I’m terrified of wanting greatness because in the end, it’s really all a matter of what you’re willing to lose to gain the world.
