Closing date for applications is Thursday 23rd March 2023.

THE ROLE

A rare opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled nurse to join our Medical Centre team.

The team consists of 6 nurses who cover 24 hours a day during term time, a part time admin assistant and a Medical Centre Manager. The team generally work with 2 nurses on during the day and lone working in the evenings and overnight.

The Medical Centre is an integral part of our sector-leading pastoral care.

We look after the health and wellbeing of approximately 800 students aged 7-18 years who attend the school as day students or living in the boarding school environment. Support from the Medical Centre to 1st aiders and house staff is also required daily, as well as close working with the Health & Safety officer.

Daily duties and visiting numbers are variable depending on the season. Appointments include an array of needs ranging from reassurance, aches and pains, minor illnesses such as colds, coughs, flus, annual reviews for asthma, allergies, and diabetes, as well as mental health which includes wellbeing chats, dietary advice and crisis chats.

We administer routine vaccines in accordance with the NHS school vaccination program and there is a high level of sports injuries particularly during rugby, cricket and hockey seasons. We have a ten bed in-patient ward made up over 3 bedrooms and care can range from rest, contagious illnesses and mental health.

A pitch side attendance is required at some games fixtures and the rota will reflect these duties.

There are 11 boarding houses on a campus spread out over 100 acres. As the Medical Centre staff are often called out to any of the houses or areas within the grounds, a small buggy is available to the team.

Boarding students are registered at a local GP practice who attend the school for clinics 4 per week and are available to call for any assistance. Physiotherapy, podiatry, counselling and psychotherapy are available on a private basis with regular communication into the medical centre.

As part of a multi-disciplinary team the post holder will have responsibility for individual assessment, implementation and
