General Manager of Istanbul Science Park Yasin Erol Evaluated ICUBE Programme Supported fifty entrepreneurs in a year

For the growth of companies within Turkey’s entrepreneurship ecosystem and opening to the UK market, Istanbul Science Park International Accelerator Programme, which is supported by the Istanbul Development Agency supported 50 firms within just one year.

In recent years, the entrepreneurial ecosystem caught rapid growth in Turkey. In this growth, the contribution of accelerator programs is also significant which enable companies to open overseas markets and take support. ICUBE International Accelerator Programme is at the top of these programmes that executed under the leadership of Istanbul Science Park with the support of the Istanbul Development Agency.

MEETING WITH FOREIGN INVESTORS ICUBE International Accelerator Programme running by Istanbul Science Park ENTERTECH with the support of the Istanbul Development Agency enables entrepreneurs to globalize.

While ICUBE program that launched by Istanbul Science Park last year, supported 50 entrepreneurs up to now, it also succeeded to bring 20 start-ups to the UK market.

The general manager of Istanbul Science Park Yasin Erol evaluated the activities that have been done along with ICUBE programme up to date. According to Yasin Erol; “ICUBE programme which was established in October 2018 serves as the International Accelerator Program, whose aim is to support entrepreneurs that mainly located within Istanbul provincial borders to entry into the UK market and strengthen them in overseas markets.

Each term, 25 start-ups that have internationalization potential are accepted to ICUBE International Accelerator Programme by our well-experienced expert team members. These start-ups are mentored in many areas from finance to law, from project development to digital marketing.

By the end of March 2020, we will complete the second term of the ICUBE programme. We are taking 10 graduate entrepreneurs who successfully completed the second term ICUBE International Acceleration Program to the UK to meet with foreign investors and conduct sales negotiations with their potential customers.

Thus, our entrepreneurs have chance to get opportunity to meet local and foreign investors in the UK market and examine investment opportunities on the spot. Entertech also covers all the expenses of the entrepreneurs that coming to UK.

WE HAVE FOUR IMPORTANT GOALS According to Yasin EROL; entrepreneurship come to an important point in Turkey, and stated they are carrying out programmes in Istanbul Science Park for startups to attract investment and to support their growth by identifying the deficiencies and developing sustainable solutions in this ecosystem. Additionally, he also mentioned that start-ups, which would like to get benefit from the ICUBE programme, should meet some priority criteria. The infrastructure of technological companies in science parks is very suitable for participation in the program. In addition, many SMEs developing technology-based products can easily benefit from the opportunities in our program We have four important goals here. • To develop the products of technologybased companies with professional trainers and mentors.

• To increase the existing sales capacities of companies and to provide access to the needed funding sources.

• To involve in global business development networks by providing access to international markets.

• Bringing them together with national and international investor networks to create appropriate business partnerships with potential investors.

Strong Interest at The ICUBE Second Term Demo Day Event ICUBE International Accelerator Programme project, which was supported by the Istanbul Development Agency within the scope of the Entrepreneurship Financial Support Programme in 2018 and executed under the leadership of Istanbul Science Park, has realized an important event. The second term entrepreneurs of the ICUBE In

ternational Acceleration Programme, which aims to support entrepreneurship focused on technology, innovation and creativity, had the opportunity to introduce their business ideas and projects to investors within the scope of Business Networking Framework at the ICUBE Demo Day Istanbul event. There was intense participation in this event, which was held on 18 December 2019. Entrepreneurs had not only had opportunities to present their projects within the scope of the event but also many candidates that want to be an entrepreneur had the opportunity to closely monitor the developments. Speaking at the event, Istanbul Science Park General Manager Yasin Erol stated that we continue to work with our team to generalize entrepreneurship in Turkey and to make a difference by realizing the sustainable projects. We are trying to be a compass for entrepreneurs. In the first period, we received good returns. We took 10 of our entrepreneurs to London. The projects of our entrepreneurs who met with investors in London attracted a lot of attention and many of them reached the stage of contract at the point of receiving investment. We are trying to be on the road and trying to keep the entrepreneurs on the road. Additionally, he emphasises that in today’s world, an entrepreneur without an international idea does not have the chance to survive.
