SPAIN & PORTUGAL: Paradores & Pousadas - September 16—30, 2013 DAY 1 - Monday, Sept. 16: Depart the U.S. for Lisbon This evening you’ll depart for Europe, with a connecting flight to Lisbon.

DAY 2 - Tuesday, Sept. 17: Arrive Lisbon You arrive in Lisbon today and transfer directly to your hotel to rest and relax, or perhaps to begin exploring the city on your own. Tonight meet your Odysseys Unlimited Tour Director and fellow travelers for a short briefing on the journey ahead and dinner together at your hotel. Accommodations: Hotel Tivoli Lisboa; Meals: Dinner DAY 3 - Wednesday, Sept. 18: Lisbon/Queluz This morning’s city tour includes a visit to the majestic Mosterio des Jeronimos, a monastery built to house some of Portugal’s treasures from the discoveries of Vasco de Gama and other explorers. And we see the nearby Tower of Belem, a symbol of Lisbon and the most photographed monument in Portugal. We also stop by the inspiring Monument to the Discoveries, commemorating Portugal’s seafaring and literary heritage. Then we head outside the city to tour the lovely National Palace at Queluz, the former summer home constructed between 1658 and 1758 that ultimately became the residence of Portuguese royalty. Dinner tonight is on your own; later you might wish to venture out to a local club to hear Portugal’s traditional, haunting Fado music. Accommodations: Hotel Tivoli Lisboa; Meals: Breakfast DAY 4 - Thursday, Sept. 19: Lisbon/Evora We leave Lisbon for Portugal’s Alentejo, a region of olive groves, vineyards, and wheat fields alive with colorful flowers. We stop for lunch along the way at a local restaurant in Monsaraz, a fortified hilltop town with just 150 residents. Continuing on our journey, we reach Evora late this afternoon. Here we stay at the lovely Pousada dos Loios, a restored convent considered the finest pousada in Portugal (despite its small guest rooms), where we dine together tonight. Accommodations: Pousada dos Loios; Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner DAY 5 - Friday, Sept. 20 : Evora This morning’s walking tour introduces us to enchanting Evora, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the architectural gems of Portugal. The tour includes a Roman ruin; the Cathedral of Evora, built in the late 12th century; Giraldo Square, one of Evora’s primary town centers; and the Church of St. Francis, home of the Chapel of Bones. An ancient walled town, Evora evokes living memories of both the Roman and Moorish periods of Portuguese history, with many streets so narrow they must be navigated on foot. This afternoon you’re free to visit the tiny shops and cafés that line the streets of Evora, and bask in the splendid scenery that surrounds you. Dinner this evening is at our pousada. SPAIN & PORTUGAL: Paradores & Pousadas - September 16—30, 2013 DAY 6 - Saturday, Sept. 21: Evora/Merida/Carmona We have a full day of travel ahead as we leave Evora for Spain. Along the way, we stop in the ancient city of Merida, once the capital of Lusitania (Latin for the kingdoms of Spain and Portugal), and a town that contains more Roman ruins than any other in Spain. You’ll have time here to explore the ruins of the old Roman Theater, soak in the atmosphere, and enjoy lunch on your own before we continue on to Carmona and our parador, a former 14th-century Arab fortress.

We dine there together this evening. Accommodations: Parador de Carmona; Meals: Breakfast, Dinner DAY 7 - Sunday, Sept. 22: Carmona/Seville Today we travel to Seville, perhaps the greatest city of the Spanish south and “home” of Carmen, Don Juan, and Figaro. One of the earliest Moorish conquests in 712, Seville has a number of excellent examples of Moorish art and architecture. Our morning tour here passes by the 16thcentury Cathedral, the 3rd largest Gothic church in the world; and visits the Alcazar, the palace noted for its signature mudejar (Moorish) architecture. Then we enjoy free time on our own for lunch and independent exploration before we head back to Carmona and our parador late this afternoon. Dinner tonight is at the parador. Accommodations: Parador de Carmona; Meals: Breakfast, Dinner Day 8 - Monday, Sept. 23: Carmona/Cordoba Today’s excursion is to Cordoba, capital of both Roman and Moorish Spain, and home to some of the country’s most important monuments. Our walking tour here takes in many of the highlights, including the atmospheric Old Quarter with its narrow winding streets, whitewashed houses, and revered Mezquita mosque. With more than 500 columns and graceful arches, the Mezquita incorporates Byzantine, Oriental, Hispano-Romanic, and Visigothic elements into its architecture. A center of culture and learning in the Middle Ages, Cordoba later became known as a city of both ancient and modern traditions. Following our tour we have free time for lunch and to explore on our own. We return to our parador late this afternoon and dine there tonight. Accommodations: Parador de Carmona; Meals: Breakfast, Dinner DAY 9 - Tuesday, Sept. 24: Carmona/Ronda We travel south today to the charming, unspoiled town of Ronda, located in a dramatic natural setting. Ronda is built atop the isolated perimeter of a high sierra at the edge of a dramatic gorge, with tall white-washed houses forming a majestic skyline. But perhaps the most wonderful sight of all is the view from our parador, Ronda’s restored medieval city hall, at the edge of El Tajo Gorge, more than 500 feet deep and 300 feet wide. This afternoon is at leisure to rest and relax or explore as you wish; tonight we enjoy dinner together at our parador.

Accommodations: Parador de Ronda; Meals: Breakfast, Dinner DAY 10 - Wednesday, Sept. 25: Ronda This morning we set out to explore on a walking tour of Ronda, taking in the graceful cathedral of Santa Maria Mayor in the town’s Old Quarter; two 17th-century bridges; and the Casa de Mondragon, once home to Moorish kings. This afternoon is at leisure to relax and enjoy this delightful town on your own. Dinner tonight is at our parador. Accommodations: Parador de Ronda; Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

SPAIN & PORTUGAL: Paradores & Pousadas - September 16—30, 2013 DAY 11 - Thursday, Sept. 26: Ronda/Granada/Ubeda Leaving Ronda, we travel to Granada to experience perhaps the most extraordinary and best-preserved Moorish monument in existence: the Alhambra, the grand palacefortress of Spain’s last Moorish rulers. In addition to its exquisite architecture, the Alhambra enjoys a unique setting high on a hill with magnificent vistas at every turn.

Upon arrival in Granada there’s time for lunch on your own before we begin our tour of the Alhambra. We arrive early this evening at our parador in Ubeda and dine there tonight. Please note: In addition to your one piece of checked luggage, you also will need to bring along a smaller, soft-sided carry-on or duffel bag for your overnight stay at Parador de Ubeda. Accommodations: Parador de Ubeda; Meals: Breakfast, Dinner DAY 12 - Friday, Sept. 27: Ubeda/Toledo/Madrid We leave Ubeda this morning for Toledo, capital of medieval Spain. Home of the renowned artist El Greco (“The Greek”) who immortalized the city in many of his medieval paintings, Toledo has changed little in looks since the Middle Ages. Declared a Spanish National Landmark, the city is filled with testaments to its Roman and Moorish heritage, and boasts some of the greatest architecture in Spain. After lunch on your own here, we visit Toledo’s most impressive monument: the Gothic Cathedral, which was constructed over a period of more than 250 years, from 1226 to 1493. We also call on the Sinagoga del Tránsito which was erected in 1357 with imported cedars from Lebanon, just as Solomon requested when constructing the First Temple in Jerusalem. Our tour of Toledo concludes with a stop at Santo Tomé, home of El Greco’s most famous painting “The Burial of Count Orgaz.” Leaving Toledo, we continue on to Madrid, arriving late afternoon. After checking in at our hotel, you’re free for dinner on your own. And remember, Spaniards dine quite late, especially in Madrid. Accommodations: Hotel Wellington; Meals: Breakfast DAY 13 - Saturday, Sept. 28: Madrid Both historic and cosmopolitan, Madrid boasts an eclectic architecture to match. This morning’s panoramic city tour includes Plaza Mayor, the grand square in the heart of the city; and majestic Palacio Real (Royal Palace), a 2,800-room rococo residence that was home to the Bourbon kings from Charles III in 1759 to Alfonso XIII, whose abdication in 1931 preceded the rise of Francisco Franco. Today the palace is used only for state occasions. Among the attractions here: the oddly decorated private apartments, two-ton crystal chandelier, 140-seat banquet hall, and grand throne room. Our tour concludes at the Prado, one of the world’s greatest museums of fine art, where you’re free to explore on your own. Besides housing the most important collection of Spanish masters anywhere, the Prado also boasts a superb collection of works by Italian and Flemish masters. The remainder of the afternoon and evening is at leisure. Accommodations: Wellington Hotel; Meals: Breakfast DAY 14 - Sunday, Sept. 29: Madrid Today is free to enjoy Madrid as you wish. Stroll along the city’s broad boulevards; see Picasso's famed painting “Guernica” at the Reina Sofia Museum; poke around the weekly El Rastro Market; visit the renowned Thyssen-Borneisza museum; or enjoy traditional Spanish tapas (appetizers) at a local restaurant. Tonight we gather for a festive farewell dinner. Please read this information carefully, as payment of a $750 deposit per person represents your acceptance of the following General Terms and Conditions. Please retain a copy of these General Terms and Conditions for your records.

Tour Cost: Total tour cost, air and land, including taxes and all fees from Ft. Myers, FL or Chicago, IL airport is $5,134 per person; and $4,834 from NYC. Land‐only cost is $3,895 per person. Prices are per person based on double occupancy and include airline taxes, fuel surcharges, and departure fees of $639, which are subject to change until final payment is made. A non‐refundable deposit of $750 per person is required with your signed application.

Final payment in full is due on or before June 13, 2013. The single supplement is $1,295 per person. Tour costs, which are based on current exchange rates and a minimum group size of 20 participants, are subject to change.

Upon reservation you must provide your full legal name as it appears on your passport. In the event an airline ticket is issued with incorrect information you have provided, you will be responsible for charges associated with the ticket’s reissue.

Luggage: Only one carry‐on and one checked bag per person is accepted on tour.

Cancellations: All deposits are non‐refundable. If you must cancel your trip, the effective date of cancellation will be upon our receipt of your written notification. Cancellations received 95 days or more from the date of departure will be subject to a $300 processing fee plus any and all additional charges dependent upon the obligations of The Renaissance Academy of FGCU to its suppliers and the airline refund policies. Cancellations received at or within 94 days of departure are subject to the following schedule of cancellation fees: 94‐65 days prior to departure ‐ 65% of the tour cost per person; 64‐30 days prior to departure ‐ 85% of the tour cost per person; 29 days or less prior to departure – 100% of the tour cost per person. If a guest makes any changes within 94 and 30 days prior to departure to either their departure city and/or the optional post‐tour extension, a $150 per person administrative fee, in addition to any fees or penalties imposed by third parties will apply. No changes are allowed within 30 days of departure.

The Renaissance Academy of FGCU is not responsible or liable for any of the services provided for/by Odysseys Unlimited, Inc. or any other travel agency, or for any of the services of hotels, motor coaches, trains, vessels, aircrafts or other forms of transportation that may be used in connection with the tour. Odysseys Unlimited, Inc. purchases transportation, hotel accommodations, restaurant and other services from independent suppliers not under its control. All arrangements for transport, accommodations, and services are made upon the express condition that The Renaissance Academy of FGCU, Odysseys Unlimited, Inc. and their affiliates shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, consequential, or incidental damage, injury, loss, accident, delay or irregularity of any kind occasioned by reason of any act or omission beyond its control, including without limitation, any act of negligence or breach of contract of any third party such as an airline, cruise line, train, hotel, restaurant, tour operator/supplier, ground handler, etc., including their employees, agents, servants or representatives, who is to or does supply any goods or services to the tour.

Without limiting the foregoing, The Renaissance Academy of FGCU, Odysseys Unlimited, Inc. and their affiliates are not responsible for any losses or expenses due to delay or changes in schedule, overbooking of accommodations, default of any third parties, sickness, weather, strikes, acts of God, acts of terrorism, war, quarantine, criminal activity, the defect of any vehicle or for any other cause beyond their control. The Renaissance Academy of FGCU reserves the right to change the itinerary of the tour or to substitute similar quality hotels or airlines without prior notice. If the tour is cancelled

by The Renaissance Academy of FGCU for any reason, The Renaissance Academy of FGCU, Odysseys Unlimited, Inc. and their affiliates shall have no liability beyond the refund of all tour participant deposits received by them, net of any and all expenses due to suppliers and the airline refund policies.

The Renaissance Academy of FGCU, in its sole discretion, may increase the tour price in the event costs increase. The Renaissance Academy of FGCU may decline to accept or retain any tour participant as a participant on the tour at any time. Airline tickets may be sold in conjunction with the services of any airline. The passenger tickets in use by the carriers, cruise line, and other independent suppliers when issued, shall constitute the sole contract between the carriers and the passenger. If you choose to make your own air arrangements, The Renaissance Academy of FGCU and Odysseys Unlimited, Inc. shall not have any liability for any loss resulting from cancellation of or changes to this tour. The parties agree that Ft. Myers (Lee County) in the state of Florida shall be the venue for any disputes arising out of this tour. A signed FGCU General Release and Waiver Agreement is required from each participant prior to departure.

Important Note: When you purchase Portugal & Spain: Paradores & Pousadas as a “land only” package, airport transfers and luggage handling at the arrival and departure airports at the beginning and end of the tour are not included. However, should you be at the arrival airport and departure hotel concurrent with the group of arriving Odysseys Unlimited travelers, you are welcome to transfer with the group at no charge, providing additional seating is available. However, please note that the motor coach cannot wait for you; you must be aboard when the coach is leaving. Business Class upgrades apply ONLY to the trans‐Atlantic portion of your itinerary. Domestic U.S. and Spain flights are not included.
