Carleton is home to many international graduate students who chose to attend Canada’s Capital University making Carleton a distinctly international university. Carleton students represent more than 160 different countries.

There are many resources that can help international students at all stages of their academic journey, including the International Student Services Office (ISSO). The ISSO staff is dedicated to helping international and exchange students adjust to life in Canada and to helping them get the most out of their student experience. carleton.ca/isso

Ÿ Helping students understand the conditions of their status in Canada, including compre-hending the type of work authorized for study permit holders Ÿ Organizing the I-Start

Orientation program that helps new international students with their transition to Carleton.

Ÿ Providing international students with opportunities to connect with the Carleton community through facilitated programming such as events and workshops that bring students together. Ÿ Supporting and encouraging

Carleton students to gain international exposure both locally and abroad through volunteer opportunities, international internships and co-op, and participation in exchange or study abroad programs.

Ÿ Providing information and support from authorized immigration advisors for student applications to Immigration,

Refugees, and Citizenship
