GRADUATING COMMUNITIES OUT OF POVERTY IN 10 YEARS Food for the Hungry Canada currently walks with 27 partner communities in 10 countries worldwide. Since 1994 FH Canada has seen 37 communities graduate as self-sustaining.

9 teams with 88 participants travelled to partnered communities.

In Haiti, a Mobile Medical Clinic delivered preventative care training to over 800 people. 120 children and 200 mothers were treated with basic medical care. 135 children were visited in-home for nutritional monitoring.

In Burundi, 62% of all families in our communities have kitchen gardens.

In Guatemala, 64 volunteer mothers leading Cascade Groups and Growth Promotion Teams made over 2,000 visits during the past year, impacting the wellbeing for children ages 0-5.

In Rwanda, 150 pigs were distributed to farming families. By the end of the year, 65 sows had given birth, and 65 piglets were given to other farming families.

12 engagement events with church and business partners. 18 Poverty Revolution Boot Camps and trainings across 5 provinces, educating 568 participants. 1 Helping Without Hurting day-conference in Edmonton, AB gathering over 540 attendees.

In Ethiopia, 483 kgs of improved varieties of fruits and vegetable seeds and 285 female goats were distributed to families alongside training courses.

INCOME-GENERATION & LIVELIHOODS

In Syria and Lebanon, FH joined forces with Integral Alliance, Medair, World Renew, the Lebanese Society for Social Development, and the Fellowship of Middle East Ev. Churches to provide food aid to 2,479 refugee families, mattresses to 410 homes, and blankets, stoves, and more to over 1,160 refugee families.

In Burundi, 93.5% of grade six students were promoted to secondary school, a vast improvement over last year’s 67%.

In Bangladesh, savings groups cumulatively increased their savings by almost $11,000 CAD and granted 116 new loans to their members.

In Guatemala, 670 homes were visited to encourage parents to send their children to school and to support their children in their studies.

In Uganda, 452 parents saved approximately $20,485 CAD through Savings and Loans Groups training.
