EDITOR`S NOTE
RAINMAKERS
WILL YOU PLEASE STOP ALL THIS NONSENSE AGAINST PAKISTAN! A couple of days back, I was out roaming in Dubai mall, where I saw a huge poster of the movie, ‘Sarabjit”, based on the biography of Sarabjit Singh. After reading its review, it was clear that the movie was plotted against Pakistan and its Law enforcing agencies. Being an investigating journalist, and a publisher of highly circulated newspapers of Pakistan, the review triggered my impatience and provoked me into watching the movie, as I knew the actual story behind this movie. While watching the movie I realized that this biography was a story line-up that was completely based on a pillar of lies. The story writer, “Indian-Government” and the paid director of the movie, “Omung Kumar,” showed utter desperation into brainwashing the audience worldwide, thinking of Pakistan as the world’s most vicious country, with its Law holding negative grounds particularly for India and its innocent people. The cast, acting, production and direction of the movie mold the audience so emotionally that it had them lost in the story, having no problem in letting the audience believe that the false story they projected is true. Whether they are Indians, Bangladeshis, Saudis, or even Pakistanis, all seem to believe the story of the poor innocent drunk farmer, who crossed the border unconsciously as he lived near the border line. Those who went to watch the movie empty minded, with regards to the facts and figures of the whole incident of Sarabjit Singh, came out with tears in their eyes, believing that the story directed was true and factual. The so called poor innocent farmer Sarabjit Singh was actually “Ranjit Singh Mattu” a senior agent of RAW (the Indian Intelligence Agency), involved in the terrorist bomb blasts in Lahore and Faisalabad which lead to the death of numerous innocent Pakistanis. According to their own leading Indian newspaper, ‘Hindustan Times,’ Sarabjit Singh was sent to Pakistan for an operation managed by a senior official at RAW, who was caught by Pakistan’s law enforcing agencies while trying to flee back to India. It’s not always easy to accept the facts but moving further and manipulating millions of minds with the wrong facts and figures is just not acceptable! Moreover, the language used for Pakistan and its law enforcers were so immoral and indecent that one could not hear it with ease. The attempt made to target the image of Pakistan, its government and law enforcing agencies in this movie is very disappointing and we stand to condemn it. I just want to ask the Indian civic authorities & law enforcing agencies, the reason why they are trying to spread so much hatred against Pakistan and its people? Why are they brainwashing the minds of innocent Indian people and the people worldwide? Dear film director - Omung Kumar, No matter how well you lie, it shall never be the truth! The innocent Pakistanis that lost their lives in the bomb blasts planted by “Sarabjit Singh” and other master minds will await their justice till the Day of Judgment.

FHM: Your best piece of travel advice? AA: "Do not fear traveling. Never think it'll be out of your budget. Don't try and avoid it. For me, travel has opened my eyes to the world and helped me become the person i am. Start small, even if it's within pakistan, but go. Once you get the knack, you won't be able to stop!
FHM: What destination do you find yourself returning to again and again? What about it is so alluring? AA: I don't like repeating the same destinations again and again, no matter how good the experience, the first time is usually the best anyway. I look forward to seeing new places all the time.
However, two cities that never fail to bore me: New York and Bangkok and what's alluring about them is the fact that they are so alive 24/7, there is always something to do! FHM: Your favorite travel quote? AA:
"Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.” – Gustave Flaubert
FHM: Favorite place you visited? AA: For someone who enjoys to travel a lot, that's a very tough question to answer. Every place brings forth its own charms, trials and experiences. As long as it's not a place to permanently stay, it's perfect for me! I'll take whatever comes my way FHM: Place you wish to visit? AA: Wow! The list in endless, I really want to be the first Pakistani in the world to visit every country that ever was. So this may take me long... Hehe FHM: Last place you visited? AA: I was in Afghanistan not too long ago and the experience amazing!
FHM: Do you prefer to travel alone or with friends? AA: I prefer to have at least one other person with me when I travel so that I have someone to share my amazing experiences with!
FHM: Favorite airport in the world? AA: I'm not a big fan of airports to be honest. I really like the business lounge in Istanbul though, you can find a variety of cuisines, a spa and a bed and nap till you need to fly. Perfect!
FHM: Any crazy Travel experience/memory? AA: We hadn't booked a room in Stockholm a few years ago. We thought we'd find something once we got there. Our arrival got delayed and we reached the city post 2:30 am. All hotels seemed booked (and others too expensive) and we were exhausted so we got ourselves a room on a boat. Imagine FHM: What do you normally wear when you travel? AA: I keep it light, comfortable and convenient, the less I need to iron my clothes the happier I am. One
FHM: Which bag do you prefer to anchor all the weight? AA: I travel super light so many times I don't need too much of a fancy bag. I have a super cool set of samsonite suitcases that I lug everywhere I go and a tote style bag to carry my regular stuff with me at all times! FHM: Any specific way you fold your clothes? AA: Once again, I travel super light but if I manage to shop too much then I've heard rolling your clothes into little balls creates more space! However, I do put my perfumes between heavy clothing so they don't break or leak. FHM: Your favorite travel movie? AA: If anyone is a true explorer of the earth, they would've probably seen the amazing documentary series called 'Planet Earth' by the BBC. Even though it isn't a movie per se, it's the best way to enjoy our beautiful planet and its nature at its BEST.
FHM: Favorite airline? AA: Hmmm, I like Turkish for its amazing connections from Pakistan to the rest of the world and Etihad for its impeccable service! FHM: What do you usually carry when you travel? AA: I need a nice pair of shades, comfy shoes and sun block are of essence to me. The rest of the packing is subject to where in the world I'm headed, the weather, the type of trip I'm taking etc. FHM: Bag must haves? AA: Carry blush, gloss, mascara and deodorant on you at all times! Sometimes you just don't have time to go back to the hotel and change before you head out again!

FADI MCHANNA Int. Educator & Hair Dresser
IN THIS FAST PACE WORLD TRENDS & TECHNOLOGY IS CHANGING ON THE DAILY BASIS. EVERY SINGLE CREATION IS A RESULT OF CREATIVITY OR AN EXPERIENCE. FADI MCHANNA – GENERAL MANAGER OF CHI LEBANON AND FAROUK SYSTEMS INTERNATIONAL EDUCATOR, IS ON THE MISSION OF PROVIDING THE PROFESSIONAL BEAUTY INDUSTRY WITH THE MOST ADVANCED AMERICAN TECHNOLOGY BASED UPON ‘EDUCATION, ENVIRONMENT AND ETHICS,’ WHICH IS CATCHING UP PRETTY RIGHT.
THIS COMPANY IS FROM A HAIR DRESSER TO HAIR DRESSERS
about Farouk Systems first. I chose this company over other companies because during my professional life I found out that Farouk System is the only company which brings out constant innovations. Keeping the market need in mind, they invent new products in every three months and have a new line available in the market. Hence, the constant change in hair colour is a result of innovations and creations.
HAIRDRESSERS BRING COLOUR TO THE WORLD FHM: How is your experience working for Farouk Systems? FM: The experience working for Farouk Systems has been amazing. If you take me five years back and ask me to choose any profession, I would choose the same profession again because I love what I do. Meeting different people and experiencing different cultures is certainly an experience itself. Every two years we have a meeting in Cancun, Mexico where 5000 hair dressers from all over the world gather under one roof to share their experiences and creativity.
THE ONLY WAY TO DO GREAT WORK IS TO LOVE WHAT YOU DO FHM: Tell us about yourself and share your success story? FM: I lived in London for 17 years and worked really hard as a hair dresser. Later I decided to change my way of living hence, I went back to Lebanon where I originally belong and in 2010 I joined Farouk Systems - Houston based HairCare Company as a General Manager. I became their International Educator and travelled all over the world to educate people how to have a safe environment in your salon and how to use safe products. If you talk about my success story, I think who ever loves his/her job is successful and if you don't love your job, you stay the same. I love my profession and I consider every salon in this world as my salon. I cannot brag that I am successful because I still have a lot of miles to walk to be successful. FHM: What is your opinion regarding constant change in hair colour trends? FM: Well to answer this question, I would like to talk
FHM: Educate our readers about CHI Shine Shade Colours? FM: CHI Shine Shade is the new innovation by Farouk Systems, Ammonia and PPD free 5-in-1 liquid colours with which you can have five kinds of applications Permanent, Demi-Permanent, Semi-Permanent, Toner or Treatment. In my professional career, I haven't seen any colour or technology which gives you colour and treatment at the same time. Usually when we put colour or bleaching powder on the hair it damages the cuticles but with CHI Shine Shade you are actually treating your hair along with getting them coloured. FHM: What are the basic tips to keep coloured hair healthy and strong? FM: I have been preaching about this all over the world that if a woman dresses up nice, she should focus on her hair as well. I see women using unsafe shampoos and other products which are damaging and weakening their hair. At Farouk Systems, shampoos are Paraben and Sulfate-free. Sulfate is responsible for discolouring the hair colour which is found in other shampoos but CHI shampoos keep their coloured hair healthy and strong. FHM: Is there any specific ingredient which makes CHI Professional products different from other brands? FM: All the CHI products have silk in it. Silk has 17 amino acids, out of which 19 amino acids exist in our skin and hair. When you wear silk it reflects and
shines, and when we use CHI products on hair we treat, cure, repair and smoothen the hair at the same time giving the same reflection and shine to them. FHM: Tell us some of your experiences as a hairdresser in this field? FM: Information is power! A good educator and a hair dresser must consult a client and should know the history of the client's hair. From a single touch he/she should know about the condition of the hair. As an educator I have to tell the hair dressers about how to keep hair colour according to the skin tone and haircut. If it goes wrong it will make a woman upset. If you are wearing a good designer dress and shoes but your hair is not maintained, you won't look good. But, if you are wearing normal clothes and your hair is good, you will look like a million dollar. FHM: How is your experience working with Pakistani hair experts? FM: I met Pakistani hair experts in Turkey for the first time which was an amazing experience. This is my second experience in their homeland which makes me draw the conclusion that they are courteous, always smiling and respecting people. I have seen hairdressers all over the world and I don't see arrogance here at all. I didn't know what to expect when I came here but overall it was a good experience working with them. FHM: Do you think Silver hair colour trend will survive in Pakistan? FM: Off course it will survive! Silver hair colour was a taboo here but, we have managed to bring in a trend that people will definitely love. CHI Shine Shade Colours will change the game of hair colour in Pakistan. FHM: How would you differentiate CHI Professional with other brands? FM: Mr. Farouk Shami was struck by an allergy caused by Ammonia; instead of quitting the profession he found a solution by inventing ammonia free products. Farouk System is based on Environment, Education & Ethics, we believe in global environment but we also believe in salon environment. Sitting in a salon, getting a hair colour done is affecting the client and the hairdresser because of the harmful chemicals and its fumes. We have created something which is providing safe environment for the clients and employees of any salon. FHM: Is there any difference between men and women hair colour technique? FM: Colour technique is the same for both, the only percentage of men who have long hair like to have highlights in their hair. The pigmentation is the same for men and women, hence, the techniques are the same. Men are now more aware of using good products; therefore, Farouk Systems in partnership with Esquire magazine is bringing cosmetics and products
FOR WOMEN, HAIR IS THEIR CROWN for men. Men are now into cosmetics; they want good creams on their face and want to use good products, too. FHM: Why such trends come so late in Pakistan? What do you think about Pakistani market? FM: It's never too late! Mr. Sajjad Naqvi and his team are looking at what they need in Pakistan. CHI Pakistan is bringing the best and the latest according to the Pakistani market. CHI Professional has many products and SKU's but we need to see what this market needs. Pakistani market has a good future and from a management point of view, if you know what your market needs, you achieve success. FHM: Any message for our readers and hair experts? FM: The only message I would like to give to the readers is that, the way you look after your closet, look after your hair the same way. Buy good and healthy products, buy Farouk Systems products.
FHM: Your current favorite lipstick color? SK: It depends on my mood! Nowadays I’m in love with peach color. FHM: Your favorite face wash? SK: That depends on the weather; in winters my skin gets dry so I use a face wash that has a creamy consistency, while in summers I use gel based face wash. FHM: Favorite hair care product? How do you usually prefer your hair? SK: I prefer keeping my hair naturally healthy by using home remedies like egg, yogurt or onion etc. FHM: Tips for healthy glowing skin? SK: I don’t use any products on my skin; the only thing I use is fresh cream. I apply it on my face and leave it for 10 minutes, giving my skin glow and a radiant look. I do take herbal facial once a month but only if I need it. I use L’Oreal Primer just before makeup which protects my skin very well.
“
Beauty is eternity gazing at itself in a mirror.
“
FHM: What kind of makeup you prefer while going for shoots or any events etc? SK: I always go for Nude makeup look for shoots. I don’t like dark colors during summer season and I choose light colors like baby pink with a light blush and shimmer on it. Makeup for events vary depending on the event itself.
FHM: Any cosmetic surgery? SK: I haven’t done any surgery yet but, I might get a nose job because everyone wants to look beautiful I feel that my nose is a bit long. FHM: Vegetables or fruits? What do you prefer more? SK: Both! I like veggies and fruits; I am not that much of a meat lover. I prefer my veggies to be stir fried in olive oil with a dash of salt and pepper on it. I prefer eating raw fruits than milkshakes or any other way.

“ Fitness Is A Lifestyle And There Is No Short-term Solution For It.
“
FHM: Tell us about yourself? NUSRAT: I am a lawyer by profession and have always been into fitness. It took me a significant amount of trial & error and time to change my body around to what I wanted it to be like. Initially, my fitness was more performance oriented but as I grew older I began to be concerned about the way I look but not only how I performed. To over come all the concerns I had, I tried a lot of things. When I met Torsam four years ago we started trying things together as we both were very much experimental. We realized within a week of knowing each other that we both were interested in the same thing and that is how the 42 Day Challenge happened. TORSAM: After moving to Karachi when I was 12 years old for four years from Dhairkee and changing multiple schools, I left for London to study music for a year and now presently in the 4th year of medicine at Ziauddin. I was into fitness since childhood and started working out to gain a lot of muscles. When I gained around 30 kgs of muscles I realized that I was too short of my height to be big. I encountered an accident after which I lost all my muscles and chose to get a lean body and started working out for a lean lifestyle. While studying I wasn't getting much time to go to the gym and in the meantime I met Nusrat and we started creating home workouts for ourselves in which we didn't have to buy a lot of expensive equipments.
Research says that, 'fitter you are, longer you live'
FHM: How did you come up with the 42 Day Challenge? TORSAM: Our friends had the same routine like ours and were getting fat, whereas we were trying these workouts at home and looked fitter than them. During our semester break we tried these workouts on our friends; we gave different kinds of diet plans and workouts according to their body types. In my second semester I studied the Physiology of Metabolism & Nutrition and when we researched on the individual basis, everything came together. We had a lot of placebos as we were giving different diets and workouts according to the certain body types. When things started to make sense and the semester break came in, we decided to do something which benefited the community around us. NUSRAT: When we started the 42 Day Challenge, we had a clear concept but, it sounded more dramatic to the people. Because we were busy with our lives and it was hard to keep up with the gym, we started looking for the workouts online that could be done at home. We did all the possible workouts and tried to figure out that in short span of time what would give a wholesome routine that has weight training and cardio with an individualize nutrition. In our first session at MAD School we had 61 people enrolled, later we decided to give it a break because we had this idea that we wanted to go big with this and we knew it was something positive and no one was doing it over here. For our 2nd session we had 76 people enrolled, and this gave us an idea that people are accepting it and it is catching on.
FHM: Why do you think we need boot camps in Pakistan? NUSRAT/TORSAM: Because we are young, we wanted to have a big healthy party. We are very much passionate with what we do and we wanted as many people to be involved to have a community based activity. Being a couple we didn't want it to be only boys class or girls class but a family-oriented class. We didn't set it up to torture people at mass, but we wanted them to hangout in a positive and healthy manner. At the end of the session we distribute a CD so that people can continue that lifestyle wherever they go and whatever they do. Our program was never exclusive to anyone, it is for everyone and we encourage every single person who joins us for the 42 Day Challenge.
FHM: How is 42 days challenge different from other boot camps? NUSRAT/TORSAM: When you create something you know most about it and we knew how and when our program will affect others. It's not different from other boot camps but, our program is very personal because it was made for us that we could do personally at home. At every step and every exercise we know how our client is feeling, in regards to people who have opened the programs just to make money, which is completely a different thing. FHM: What are the basic rules of living a healthy lifestyle? TORSAM: It all depends on your goal but if you want to have general rules in life then you have to remove all the junk food from your house. If you want to eat junk food then go out and eat, don't bring it home. Don't skip breakfast or any other meal. NUSRAT: Have some sort of goal and direction with some research. As fitness is not about shortcuts anymore, look for the kind of routines that you can do with your schedule.
FHM: What are the effects of boots camps? NUSRAT: If once and for all anyone can wipe out all their fat, they can have a six pack. It's never a onetime thing, no matter what you do; you have to stick to the routine. Today if you eat a healthy meal all day long and tomorrow y have a burger or donut; everything will go back to where it started from. Fitness is a lifestyle and there is no short-term solution for it. TORSAM: If you have to look a certain way, you have to work a certain way. You cannot have best of both worlds, working out for six months and having cakes for the rest of your life with a six pack. More like a fantasy to me! FHM: Any weird experiences or situations you have been into? TORSAM: The more people we meet, the more weird situations come up in front of us to look into. Certain kind of experiences taught us a lot to treat fitness in a medical manner. We deconstruct and find out people's issues which they are unaware of like hormonal problem in women. NUSRAT: People come up to us and say the oddest things like, if I eat multi-vitamins I will gain weight or if I stop doing weight training I will gain double weight. We are still fighting these 4 years down the line basic questions. FHM: Do you think that the trend of staying lean is here to stay for good? NUSRAT: It will take time for trends to catch on, the more you get into the forward moving trends, and you realize how backward your country can be. We are trying to bring in a trend that is being followed in a western country significantly, but here it's still strange. Fitness goals will always change, there will always be a time in life when people would like to be buff or wants to be skinny but, this is actually sustainable and healthy way. People started dying earlier due to fatal diseases and it actually became detrimental. Hence, we had to find a way out of it. Leaner you are, your life expectancy increases, hence this is the only way to survive these days. FHM: Any plans other than the 42 Day Challenge? TORSAM: We are opening up a health food store in collaboration with Xanders in few months. There will be a wet food bar providing healthy salads and sandwiches. There will be sports clothing, supplements and BMR testing machine for the fitness lovers. FHM: Tell us about your love story? NUSRAT: I met Torsam at Moin Khan Stadium where I was with bunch of my friends to see the motor cross event. We were in the line where one of my friend knew him and called him. As the event was out of ticket and we were in the free line, my motherly instincts kicked in and I asked him to stand behind me. We started having conversation and one week later met in a party at his house, which I think that the party was thrown for me. Later we found out that we were at the same gym, we started dating and here we are now.
RAPID FIRE:
FHM: Favourite Colour? TORSAM: For her it's Black & Yellow. NUSRAT: For him it's always Black. FHM: Favourite Food? TORSAM: Nusrat loves Walnut Tarts, Cupcakes and Ice Cream NUSRAT: He is a foodie! Just to name a few he loves Nihari, Sushi, Biryani and Mutton Chomps. FHM: The most childish desire? TORSAM: Most probably she wants to sleep in the middle of a
huge bed accommodating 100 dogs at once. NUSRAT: Torsam thinks he is a Superman and jumped off from his grand-mother's roof with the imagination. FHM: One best thing about each other? TORSAM: I think her patience with me. NUSRAT: Torsam is intelligent and smart. I respect that because he teaches me a lot of things I don't know. FHM: Where do you see yourself in 10 years? TORSAM: We want to get into food, health and medicine. We want to do things for child fitness and child health, so that when children grown in this community, they grow bigger, stronger and taller. All the people in this community should reach their maximum potential. NUSRAT: Being a gemini I love to dream. I imagine and plan things ahead of time which are not even possible at times. I just want to see this world changed a little bit more. FHM: A good relationship advice? TORSAM: Stay focused NUSRAT: Patience is the key
Coffee with
Nazneen Tariq Khan
-The Jewellery Designer
“
Jewellery has the power to be this one little thing that can make you feel unique.
“
FHM: Tell us about yourself? NTK: Nazneen Tariq was born as a designer in 1981. When Samina Ibrahim interviewed me for Herald she wrote that, I was known to be the first woman who brought fashion of eastern and western designs in clothes. When I started designing clothes, Mrs. Kazmi was my only competitor in the market, who was doing oriental fashion. I was doing really well when suddenly by 2006 there was a boom in the industry and a lot of designers emerged from everywhere. That was a time when I realized that its now time to call myself a seamstress. However, when you need something you work hard for it, as they say, necessity is the mother of invention. I came into this field because it was in me and one doesn't need to study if there is something he/she is capable of doing. Hence, once I started designing my own clothes, they were later copied at my tailor's shop, and that is when my husband made me realize that I need to start my own line. FHM: What inspired you to choose jewellery designing as your profession? NTK: Jewellery was a fluke thing! Two years prior starting designing jewellery, I met someone in USA who told me that I play good with jewellery, to which I replied that I design clothes not jewellery and the story ended there. Two years later, when I was in Dubai I met a guy at a shop from where I was buying stones and other material, who was holding some pieces of jewellery in his hand, purchasing stones for them. I asked him if he designs jewellery and he said yes, telling me that he works for someone. I told him that my son does good calligraphy and I want to incorporate that in jewellery so if he
could make some pieces for me, and he agreed upon it. That is when I designed my initial pieces with the Name of God and and gifted them to a few friends of mine in USA. When I presented those pieces to them, one of my friend actually got surprised and told me to startup a business. She told me about the potential market for such kind of jewellery and since then my profession as a jewellery designer began, to which after sometime I managed to open up my own factory. FHM: Enlighten us about Heavenly Regalia? What is the basic theme of your brand? NTK: I started my brand Heavenly Regalia - Heavenly because it's connected with God and Regalia means Regal. After being made in Pakistan, all the jewellery goes to Dubai to be authenticated, stamped and finished lastly on the machines there. The jewellery is completely solid silver with a percentage of gold in it. I kept the theme of calligraphic jewellery for a certain time but then friends and clients started demanding different designs of jewellery that can be worn anytime, any day. FHM: From where do you get the inspiration to design such unique jewellery? NTK: Not a single idea comes overnight, you need to search and research more to create one fine piece. I read books on Indian Jewellery, Italian Jewellery and many more. To create your own designs one must know where to derive the inspiration from. FHM: What kind of jewellery designs do you prefer working on the most? NTK: Contemporary! Even if a mother passes a piece of jewellery to her daughter or daughter in law,
it never goes out of fashion. FHM: What type of stones & elements do you use in your jewellery? NTK: Precious and semi precious stones. I never use any artificial stone or metal in my jewellery. FHM: How much time does it take to design a single piece? NTK: As an artist I say it takes a lot of time to implement the idea to create one piece. I feel awful when people ask whether these the only designs? They still don't have the idea that jewellery making takes a lot of time. My designs go through 15 steps of processing to become one final finished piece. FHM: Where do you see the trend of designer jewel-
lery in 5 years? NTK: It is going to go like fire, exactly like the designer clothing trend went up. And then maybe I will switch to making furniture or sandals or anything else. FHM: How do you differentiate between jewellery, that is, according to eastern & western wear? NTK: Eastern jewellery is more like Baali's and Jhumka's but western is more of a funkier type of jewellery but, on the tamer side. Jewellery is heirloom, so I prefer contemporary forever because whoever is paying the price for it can forward it to the next generation. FHM: How many exhibitions have you had so far? NTK: Countless! I have lost track of the exhibitions. I am hardly in Karachi, I keep travelling for exhibitions. FHM: Any plans of opening up a flagship store? NTK: No! My clients like to be private. They come and buy jewellery from me, so that they can pass it off wherever they can go as an heirloom piece. They easily say that my jewellery has been passed as the real gold and diamonds because of its quality and I consider it as an achievement. FHM: Any message for the jewellery lovers? NTK: Enjoy my jewellery.
RAPID FIRE: FHM: Favourite Model? NTK: I have a lot of favourite models but to name a few, I would say Rubya Chaudhry, Sabina Pasha and Nadia Hussain. FHM: Favourite Perfume? NTK: Oud Al Mushakal. FHM: Favourite Designer? NTK: Rizwan Beyg and Umar Sayeed. FHM: Are you a foodie? NTK:I love food but I am allergic to 99 food items. FHM: One thing you can't live without? NTK: God.
Breaking The Curse with
AKSBANDH
FHM: This is the first ever found footage movie, where did the idea come from? Ayaz: The basic idea was of Emran Hussain - the director of Aksbandh. The moment he called and shared his idea, I knew that this is going to set a new trend to our film industry because the found footage genre has never been filmed in Pakistan before. After 3 months of brainstorming and writing sessions we ended up with what Aksbandh is today. FHM: Is there any technology used to shoot the film? Ayaz: To create that look of the movie we have used some rigs that were never used in Pakistan before and we made those rigs ourselves because we couldn't use cranes and other equipments in that dense jungle.
we were staying were very scary. It still gives me goose bumps while remembering those sequences because shooting in the middle of the jungle at around 2 AM in 12 degrees was very frightening. Daniyal: The repeated feeling of someone passing by behind, was way too much to deal with, but I think it was just psychological as nothing serious happened. A few little things happened with the girls however, if there were any such things they had spared me. Saud: The location was scary at night and I think we all couldn't forget those days of shooting.
Bilal: The film has been shot on a normal film camera but the main work has been done in post-production. The colour grading was done here while the sound mixing was done in India.
along with my team and friends am really hopeful, that it's going to do well, as it has all the elements for the Pakistani viewership. Genre didn't allow us to put item numbers else we wouldn't have missed that too.
Daniyal: Yes rigging has not been used in Pakistan before, and our team did it without any foreign assistance. Other than this plenty of other things were also involved, however, too technical for me to explain in a few lines.
FHM: Do you think Aksbandh will set a trend of making films in the horror genre? Ayaz: Every movie sets a trend in its own genre and so Aksbandh will too definitely set a trend in the horror genre. It is a feasible genre if compared to any other subjective genre, and I hoping that if our audience accepts this genre then you will see 4 to 5 found footages movies in 2017.
FHM: Any incident that still gives you goose bumps? Bilal: The night scenes that we shot 10 to 15 km away from the place where
FHM: What expectations do you have from Aksbandh? Ayaz: We have worked really hard for the movie and have good expectations from it. Bilal: I would like to mention two things - First, the Pakistani audience is unpredictable, you can never tell what sort of movies they will like or not. In recent past, since the revival of our cinema, there have been a lot of hits and misses. Secondly, it is an experimental project from day one. No one has taken the risk of making a found footage horror film but let’s see how they respond. I believe our efforts will be seen in the movie and people will love it. Daniyal: Hopefully it will do well, I
Bilal: Off course it will! Today film-makers think that in order to make a film you need a budget of 2 to 3 billion and a star studded cast, but we haven't used any of these tactics. You can make a film with lesser budget and no star studded cast and hopefully Aksbandh will change the perception. Daniyal: That's one thing that it will definitely do. The look and feel will be surely appealing to new filmmakers and the way it's shot and treated is in itself a treat to work on. So yes, this trend is coming no doubt. Shehzeen: Our youth needs something new and different and I am sure after watching Aksbandh, people will get that confidence to experiment new things.
Ayaz:
It was a different experience as we were shooting in a jungle in Larkana and the ambiance was serene. Apart from the location and ambiance the shooting style was different as the executions of the shots were unconventional.
Bilal:
Shooting is always fun but shooting while travelling, itself is an experience. It gives you an opportunity to learn, plus the execution of a found footage movie is not that easy, so you get to learn a lot while shooting.
Daniyal:
It was absolutely amazing experience, one of the most beautiful, fun filled, adventurous, memorable, most exhausting and tiring experience ever but all in all a great fun.
Saud:
It was my debut movie as an actor. It feels different because I have always worked behind the camera and it was a great experience.
Shehzeen:
It was fun! An adventurous trip on its own and I am sure we can never experience such a shoot ever again.

had the industrialist are satisfied with the profit that they are earning. Look at how two people just collaborated and worked together bringing our lawn to international levels today. We need to have more collaborations like that in our industry and likewise. FHM: Do you think these fashion weeks are helpful to make our industry strong? YBQ: Fashion weeks have become like a Sunday Market. Everyone has their own stall at different dates. There’s no doubt that the seniors should be given respect and regard for investing their blood and sweat in this industry, but I’d like to see one fashion show every year with the collaboration of all fashion councils, where everyone will be working on one platform together. Then imagine the class and scale of it. FHM: Tell us about your collection “Soft Military” and “Lal Shah Mast”? YBQ: Soft military was a take on the stance that the military took a softer stance and a salute to them as well. Pakistan’s flag had never been on the ramp. I was so happy that it brought tears to my eyes. It was a tribute to Mehdi Hasan Sahab and Madam Noor Jehan. It was a tribute to a lot of the heroes of the armed forces and more. Whereas, Lal Shah Mast was inspired by three sufis of Sindh; Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, Sachal Sarmast and Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai. FHM: From where do you derive your concepts behind your choreography? YBQ: There is always a reason behind the concept of my choreography that gives me a background to relate to it. I love draping, so you can see that in my clothing as well as in my choreography to which I believe you just need to step on the beat. FHM: If you were not an artist, what profession would you have chosen? YBQ: I wanted to go in the military and become an SSG as I wanted to be martyred. I just wanted to do something for my country. Later on I realized that my father took the right decision for me, as people in the military are the healthiest, most selfless and mentally alert. Selected as the best of the region to protect people they don’t even know. FHM: An advice that changed your life? YBQ: Change is permanent because it happens every day and it happens for good. But how does one know that the change is for good? It’s not necessary that you would be happy but you’ll be at peace. Your heart will tell you. Come closer to your heart and you’ll get all the answers. For me, change took a life time, and in the moment I started believing in myself. FHM: Your favorite quote or verse? YBQ: I have written a lot but this is close to my heart “Hai badnaseebi yeh kay ghum bhi naseeb na hou, sada itna raha magan mein kay khud se durr, khuda se durr, thakan se churr, bohat majboor.”
