Knowledge made accessible Bethlehem Area Public Library allows students to borrow laptops By Caitlin McCadden News Editor
The Bethlehem Area Public Library (BAPL) has been an oasis of creativity and free reading since the doors opened in 1901. As new developments in technology and electronics surface, even an establishment as oldfashioned as a library must make an effort to stay up to date. Over the past year, the BAPL has been allowing students to borrow laptops from their facility in order to do schoolwork or accomplish other individual projects that need tending. The staff at the BAPL have been attempting to raise more awareness of this outlet for students recently.
“We have six laptops available. They are not heavily used currently, so we would like to have more students use them. We do have one regular,” said Ms. Edena Hoy, Head of Youth Services for the BAPL. Students must present their student ID to the staff member who they are receiving the laptop from along with a BAPL card. Library cards are free and an easy way to gain access to hundreds of magazines, books, playalongs, etc., that are available at the library. “The Bethlehem Area Public Library obviously has lots and lots of books, and many online resources,” said Ms. Hoy. “We also have a total separate teen section. We get new best selling books every month, and we are renovating
the second floor, so come the end of this year it should be our new childrens and teen area.” Students are allowed to work with the Windows compatible laptop for up to 3 hours at a time while remaining in the facility. A power cord is provided, and the laptop is already preloaded with Liberty High School prerecommended websites and study tools and Bethlehem Area School District applications. Printing is no longer an issue since the BAPL now offers wireless printing for all laptops. Hours of operation for the BAPL are also highly flexible for a student’s schedule being open till 8 PM on Monday through Wednesday, 6 PM on Thursday through Friday, and
5 PM on Saturday. The library is also open on days that school is closed. “If my computer was ever to crash or something else along those lines, it is helpful to know that I could One of six laptops available for students to work go to the on with pre-downloaded research tools. library and Photo: Caitlin McCadden have a laptop available to me,” said Bridget Tarnowski, jun- would definitely intrigue me ior. “I do not use the library to go more often now.” often but having that option
Bad start for Hillary Hillary Clinton uses personal email as Secretary of State By Cassie Sedler Editorials Editor
In the first weeks of March, it was disclosed that Hillary Clinton used a personal email account when conducting her duties as Secretary of State. Since then, the justification of this act has been under investigation by astounded government officials, who continue to contemplate why Clinton’s advisors permitted her to use a personal email in the first place. “Her aides took no actions to have her personal emails preserved on department servers at the time, as required by the Federal Records Act,” said The New York Times. In response to a recent effort by government officials to comply with the Federal Records Act, advisors submitted only a portion of the thousands of emails Hillary Clinton sent through her personal account while at the head of the department. “In 2013 -- after Clinton left State -- the National Archives and Records Administration, clarified that personal email can only be used in ‘emergency situations, and when used, the emails ‘are captured and managed in accordance with agency record-

Amid ongoing protests in Ferguson, Missouri, two officers have been shot by a gunman in a scene that shocked the many witnesses. This shooting took place during one of the many protest rallies that have rocked the city since the shooting of teenager Michael Brown. One 32 year old officer received a facial wound, while another 41 year old officer was wounded in the shoulder. This shooting follows the resignation of the city’s police chief, after increased racial tensions. Chief Jon Belmar of
the St. Louis County Police Department called the shooting “really an ambush.” in a statement for the New York Times. Amateur videos were captured of the altercation, and remain online. After the incident, the officers were hospitalized with serious injuries, but remained alive. Shortly after the shooting, police had no suspects in custody in connection to the shooting. A manhunt was conducted in the days following. Attorney General Eric Holder called the gunman a “punk,” but soon issued a formal statement.

“This arrest sends a clear message that acts of violence against our law enforcement personnel will never be tolerated," said U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder in a public statement. On March 15, an arrest had been made of one Jeffrey Williams, who could face life in prison. Williams insists that there was a dispute, but authorities are skeptical of that perspective. When a fire alarm goes off, most people know what to do. A student gets up from class and goes outside, and then waits to go back in. For a child with Autism however, this is not the case. April is Autism Awareness/Acceptance Month, and it is important to shine a light on this disorder. “[Autism is] a pervasive developmental disorder of children, characterized by impaired communication, excessive rigidity, and emotional detachment: now considered one of the
autism spectrum disorder (ASD),” according to Dictionary.com. Those diagnosed have difficulty communicating, forming relationships, using language or understanding abstract concepts. According to Autism statistics the U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 1 in 68 children in the United States are on the Autism Spectrum. This is a ten fold increase in prevalence in the past 40 years. While it appears that Autism is on the rise, it is unclear whether it is due to improved detection or if there is a real increase
in cases. “Telling them of a break in the pattern ahead of time is best to avoid the reaction.” said Kelly Sloss, a teachers aide who works with children diagnosed with Autism. Hallways are chaos to a child with Autism. Along with touching being a huge problem, accidentally bumping into someone diagnosed with Autism can send autistic children into a frenzy. Autistic children do not have the neurological ability, and are lacking in coping skills. “It’s just a reaction,” said Ms. Sloss. Mrs. Lindsay Wieand, a teacher at Freedom

For most Freedom High School (FHS) students, Easter break is a time to be spent with friends and family. Many FHS students can no longer do that due to the shortened break. For two years in a row, Easter Break has been cut down to a mere one day off. Mother Nature is to blame for this. The past two winters have been some of the worst that Bethlehem has seen in years. Stressing about this year’s AP exams Preparing for college credit tests By Maya White Journalism Student
Bring on the Advanced Placement (AP) internet memes! ‘Tis the season for AP testing. AP is a program in the United States and Canada that was created by the College Board. It offers college-level curriculum and exams to high school students. Taking all circumstances into consideration, these courses are challenging. Many students looking to learn and work at a higher level than a traditional honors course would often choose to enroll in an AP course. The curriculum is more advanced than a typical high

Crossing boundaries; when is it too far? Teacher/student relationships misguided By Aeisha Gauba Centerspread Editor
In the last few years, professionalism of teachers has been a hot topic within different school districts and colleges. As it becomes a more prominent topic, people’s opinions start to grow about the rules should be set up. When talking to a few of my peers, everyone had a different opinion when it came to teacher/student relationships. Some students feel as though it is always the student’s fault, but others say it is an equal partnership. Where is the line, and when is someone crossing it? Tech-
nology is becoming a huge role throughout classrooms, so emails between students and teachers have become very common. As a senior in high school, I have watched teachers and coaches give out their number to students for further contact, and most of the time it is never for anything more than a simple text for when practice is or when something is due. Social media is also becoming a role within different schools, teachers are beginning to create their own Twitter accounts to reach students with homework questions, or tweet about when a quiz is.
These different roles in technology can lead to further relationships with teachers. I’m not saying that we should not have any contact with teachers because I personally use things like Twitter and email to reach my teachers, but it should be monitored. Television can also contribute to teacher/student relationships. In movies, some teacher/student relationships are okay, so this can make people think it is okay in real life, or that no one will find out. I believe teachers should all be required for background checks before starting their teaching career. A lot of students look at teachers/
administration for comfort, but when they get too comfortable in can lead to an unintentional relationship. Furthermore, age plays a factor into all of this. Seniors in high school are usually around the age of 18, some even 19, and there are some teachers that are fresh out of college and are around the age of 23. This means that there is only a 5 or 6 year age difference. At the age of 18, students feel as though it is okay. They are 18, they are an
adult and they will not be affected. In some cases, it might not be the teacher. Some students think that their age is okay, and believe that as a consenting adult, there should not be a problem. “It is a complicated situation and honestly, who knows anymore what is crossing the

The 4-1-1 on 4/20: pros and cons of cannabis Weighing in on the debate on legalizing marijuana in PA The Freedom Forum
The buzz about the legalization of marijuana in Pennsylvania has gotten louder recently as 2 state senators offered a recreational use and possession bill. However, more realistically, it seems that medical marijuana legalization will be the focus this year. In Philadelphia, possession
of marijuana has been decriminalized; instead of receiving a criminal charge, those caught with up to an ounce will be given a civil fine of $25. Though this is a step toward legalization, many Pennsylvanians are in favor of legalization, but not as many as one may think. Is it a generalization that everybody is for the legalization of marijuana rec-
reationally? The Freedom Forum created an anonymous poll asking students, teachers, administration, and any local member of the community to voice their views on legalization in order to answer this question as truthfully and unbiased as possible. Through the poll 65 percent of people in the area are in
Obama was quoted in New Yorker magazine: “I don't think (marijuana) is more dangerous than alcohol,” setting his stance on the issue. Even Dr. Sanjay Gupta, formerly against the legalization of marijuana, changed his stance after extensive research. “I mistakenly believed the Drug Enforcement Agency listed marijuana as a schedule 1 substance because of sound
scientific proof. Surely, they must have quality reasoning as to why marijuana is in the category of the most dangerous drugs that have ‘no accepted medicinal use and a high potential for abuse,’” said Dr. Gupta to CNN.
Pros for Legalizing Marijuana “It's a natural plant, it's been smoked since the native Indian times, it promotes creative thinking and thinking out of the box, [and] you are unable to overdose unlike many other ‘drugs.’ Why is this even a debate? There are many other ‘drugs’ that this society should be worried about. Why are people so resistant to change?” said an anonymous pollster. In fact, President Barack

support of legalizing the recreation or medicinal use of marijuana while 20 percent were undecided. Furthermore, 58 percent of those who voted in support and undecided were between the ages of 13-18. Finally, 62 percent of the people who took the poll, including all ages, have smoked marijuana previously in their lives.
Cons for Legalizing Marijuana Though it has its medical benefits, marijuana is not completely harmless, especially for teenaged brains. Marijuana’s effects on thinking, memory, and learning functions may last a long time or even be permanent. “For example, a study showed that people who started smoking marijuana heavily in their teens and had an ongoing can-
nabis use disorder lost an average of eight IQ points between ages 13 and 38,” according to drugabuse.gov. Furthermore, Dr. Eden Evins, a Harvard psychiatry professor, described the biochemical effects of marijuana on the central nervous system. She warns that smoking marijuana overstimulates naturally occurring cannabinoid recep-
tors in the brain, which are found in high-density areas that influence memory, thinking, concentration, movement, coordination and sensory and time perception.
it, states should legalize it and tax it. In an interview with Katie Couric, the governor of Colorado, John Hickenlooper, estimates that marijuana-related taxes will bring in between $60 and $100 million for the state. Pennsylvania could use that
revenue to reinstate education budgets for the public schools that are struggling financially with the mess that Corbett left for Governor Wolfe.

End Result of Legalization When it comes to the legalization, it seems that the pros outweigh the cons. In regards to The Forum’s 4/20 poll, 93% of people voted that they know someone who currently smokes marijuana. Therefore, they have to be buying it somewhere. So instead of illegally purchasing

Celebrating National Poetry Month for 19 years and counting… By Gabriella Greenhoward
Things that are life changing should be celebrated, and poetry has genuinely changed many people. This is true for not only the readers of poetry, but also for the writers. When the Academy of American Poets thought the calendar was in need of a special time to honor poetry, National Poetry Month was born. April is a month that pays respects to poets and poetry alike. National Poetry Month also encompasses publishing companies, libraries, booksellers, and schools are also part of the celebration. Where is she now? Feature on former Editor-in-Chief Amanda Molinaro By Elyse Sanford Web Editor A graduate of Freedom High School’s class of 2013, Amanda Molinaro is now currently a sophomore at Temple University. Like many college students, Molinaro changed her major while in college. Originally, during her freshman year, Molinaro was majoring in political science and minoring in journalism, but then decided to take a different route. “I changed my major. I am now a tourism and hospitality major,” said Molinaro. At Temple University, Molinaro is currently involved in the National Society of Minority in Hospitality
(NSMH), a student-run non-profit organization. In addition, Molinaro is also a student worker. “NSMH works in conjunction with its sponsors to establish a working relationship between the hospitality industry and minority students,” states NSMH.org. During her time at Freedom High School (FHS), Molinaro was the editor-in-chief of The Freedom Forum her senior year and was involved in newspaper all 4 years of high school. In addition to being involved in newspaper, Molinaro was part of many other clubs and activities at FHS. “I was in orchestra, debate team, track and field, student council, and band for a little bit,” said Molinaro.
One thing Molinaro misses about high school is the closeness of the community. Molinaro said that college is much different and that the environment of college is not the same. Additionally, Molinaro suggests that current high school students should try to have different goals and think about different possibilities for the future. “Just try to open yourself up to different stuff,” said Molinaro.

Lights, music, spray…“Hairspray” that is Review of Freedom High School’s production of “Hairspray” By Anissa Vasquez Editor-in-Chief
The Freedom High School Theatre Company’s spring musical “Hairspray” was a hit, leaving people walking out of the auditorium saying “I can’t believe that was a high school play.” Directed by Ms. Jennifer Wescoe, the show is set in Baltimore during the segregated sixties. Tracy Turnblad, a heavyset girl with a dream, gets the chance to dance on her favorite local TV program, The Corny Collins Show. This show, however, is for whites only, except for the one day a month labeled
“Negro Day,” where blacks are allowed to dance separately from the whites. Tracy, played by Kelly Donah, embarks on a mission to change all of this with the help of Link Larkin (Mitchell Corriel), Seaweed Stubs (Jalon Mathis), her mother Edna (Brady Hill), her father Wilbur (Justin Roth), and her hilarious best friend, Penny Lou Pingleton (Lizzie Trostle). “I walked into the auditorium expecting little, having never seen a Freedom play, but was blown away by the talent of the students. Amazing,” said Samantha Odin,
Bethlehem resident. Talent was exploding off the stage. The lead, Kelly Donah, lived up to her character Tracy Turnblad’s star dancing abilities. Brady Hill and Justin Roth played a hilarious married couple, making the crowd erupt into laughter with their duet “Timeless to Me.” Kristie Lamour brought the house down during her soulful and spectacular performance of “I Know Where I’ve Been.” “I got chills after Kristie sang, she's so amazing and she's only a sophomore," said Sierra Kalamar, senior. What made the show seem even more professional was
the set, orchestra, and lighting. Sets, built and painted by the stage crew and parents, were colorful, creative, and attention grabbing. The pit, made up of students and volunteers, played beautiful music throughout the show. Jakob Klo, student lighting technician, put on an impressive display, especially for a student in 11th grade. “I hope they get nominated for a lot of Freddy’s, they deserve it, the show was a lot of fun,” said Ally McCready, senior. Freddy Award nominations will be announced early this May.

Performing on the Fantasy A look at the freedom band and orchestra's trip to the Bahamas By Julia Ingarao The Freedom Forum
On March 27th at 11:00 am members of the Freedom Patriot band and orchestra embarked on the trip of a lifetime. For the next 7 days they would be traveling on the Carnival Fantasy cruise ship to the Bahamas and performing a concert on the cruise for travelers from all over the country. "I honestly couldn't wait to get on the cruise, I had a countdown and everything,” said John Smith, senior. The first day of the trip was marked by a 12 hour bus ride to Virginia in which members of the band stayed over night. After that leg of the trip, the next day, another 3 hour bus ride to Charleston, South Carolina was taken. Eventually they arrived at their destina-
tion, the ship port and the start of their vacation. "When I saw the ship it instantly hit me and I couldn't believe that I was getting the chance to go and perform on this massive cruise ship,” said Sam Dobyan, junior. Once on the ship members were given their rooms and dining room assignments. They also got to spend time exploring the ship and getting to know the different places they would be spending their time.
After departing on Saturday March 28th, the ship sailed "It took a couple days but for two days down to Nassau, finding out how to get from Sunday was spent hanging out lunch, to our rooms to the on the ship and later that evening the band did a wonderful job performing on the ship. On Monday the ship docked in Nassau and the band was taken off the ship to take a tour of the Island. They even visited a botanical garden. "Mr. Dibilio is one of the best singers I have ever heard! He did great singing The Piano Man by Billy Joel." said Dobyan. Sadly after many days of fun in the sun the band members had to get off the cruise ship and make the long 13 hour journey back home in which stories were told and pictures were shared of the time they spent together and the memories they made.

There are many factors that go into calling a snow day, but the district always makes safety the priority, which is a reason why the district called off many times this year. If the roads are not safe to be on, the district would rather not put the nearly 125 buses that transport students at risk. There is downside to the relaxing days off, though. These days out of the classroom lessen the time teachers have to cover curriculum. This often leaves teachers scrambling to get everything done by the end of the year, resulting in a pile up of work for students. So before students start praying for endless snow days next year, they may want to recall this winter’s experiences and both the positive and negative consequences of snow days.

Adventure awaits this spring Hiking trails perfect for those spontaneous afternoons By Raegan Pechar Journalism Student
As the weather gets warmer and flowers begin to bloom, five months of cabin fever leaves many people itching for an opportunity to roam outdoors. If you find yourself feeling adventurous this spring, check out these places: Right outside Wind Gap, PA, Jacobsburg State Park offers 1,169-acres of trails perfect for outdoor recreation. If you are looking for a beautiful overlook of the valleys, Bake Oven Knob is the place for you! Located in Germansville, PA, the Knob is an easy go-to when craving adventure. Just watch out for those unsteady rocks! “Bake Oven Knob is by far
my favorite place to adventure when weather permits. It is a great opportunity to be outdoors with your friends, all while offering insane views of the valley,” said senior Tyler Trapani. A little farther of a drive, Glen Onoko Falls offers breathtaking scenery, different hiking paths, and renowned waterfalls. Finally, the farthest driving distance, but most definitely worth it, is Cherry Springs State Park. Cherry Springs is a 82-acre state park located in Coudersport, PA, that offers extensive hiking trails and, at night, dark skies perfectly suited for stargazing. Senior Bryce Herman raved about his experience stargazing: “The drive is without a
doubt worth it. I’ve never been able to see the stars so visibly around here, and after hiking all day, relaxing to a beautiful night sky is ideal.” Other places worth looking into are Norde Forest State Park, Hickory Run State Park, Hawk Mountain, and Merrill Creek Reservoir. Go outside this spring and enjoy a day of hiking, sunshine, and wildlife with your friends. You will not regret it!

Men in women’s clothing and make up fight for the crown Rupaul’s Drag Race; a show to teach acceptance By Declan Coleman Journalism Student
Gentlemen, start your engines; and may the best woman win! Rupaul’s Drag Race Season Seven has begun, and it could just be the perfect show to teach the public about acceptance of different cultures, races, sexualities, and styles. Rupaul, Adore Delano, and Willam Belli are examples of people who have become quite successful and popular because of this show. Rupaul’s Drag Race is a competition reality show, run by “Supermodel of The World” Rupaul, where 12 to 14 drag queens, men who dress and perform as women, compete for a $100,000 dollars and the title of America’s Next Drag Superstar. The definition of a drag queen is open ended, as there are so many different styles of drag. Usually, drag queens are
men who wear extreme makeup, wigs, and costumes to resemble a woman, normally for entertainment. (The term “drag” was actually an acronym coined by Shakespeare, which came from a shortened version of “dressed as a girl.” He created this term so he could use something to call his male actors that played female characters, which was very common at the time). On Rupaul’s Drag Race, these queens are given a challenge each week, which usually involves comedy or music. Then, there is a runway challenge, where each queen must pull out a one-ofa-kind look from their wardrobe to present on the main stage. After the challenge is

After the Lip Sync ends, the queen who failed to impress the judges is sent home and eliminated from the competition. How could this show teach about acceptance? There are a lot of emotional moments and cute moments where you sort of realize, ‘wow, these people who seem so different from what’s called ‘normal’ are actually extremely relatable and just as normal as we are. I love it,” said Isabelle Jabbour, freshman. Season seven of the series began on March 2nd, and the show is still running strong, coming on every Monday at 9 PM. The show is not recommended for people under the age of 14 due to some strong language and minimal sexual references, but it is a hilarious, entertaining show for audiences to watch.
Much Ado about the beginning of spring Excitement about the arrival of spring By Analisa Jeffries The Freedom Forum
The last of the snow has finally melted away and with that went winter. Now, hopefully, snow storms will not appear again. Warmer temperatures are soon to be here and everything will be in full bloom. The flowers will sprout, and green foliage will replace the brittle brown tree leaves. “I am so excited for warm weather and going to the
beach. I want to swim and bike ride with all my friends,” said Veline Smith, freshman. Getting out with friends is always a plus, and even staying in on those stormy days to listen to the rain can be enjoyable. The community will be as busy as bees, with people taking advantage of the much anticipated warm weather. Owners will walk their dogs and groups of friends will hang out until late at night. “I cannot wait for foods that
people do not normally eat during winter, like ice cream. Also, I get to wear new clothes that I could not wear before.” said Britney Cruz, freshman. Many places that were closed during the cold months are starting to open again. Along with that comes crowds of people and summer jobs. People will bar-b-que in their yards and invite friends just to enjoy the warm nights. Fireflies will be out again and children will joyfully try to catch them all.
Besides the activities, there is the new fashion that comes with warm weather. Crop tops, tank tops and shorts will all start to come out from the back of the closet. The warmer it gets, the more will be seen of these. Then into the summer, pools will open allowing bathing suits and time for tanning. Spending time with friends, playing a sport or just talking, free time in spring will be much better than being stuck inside because of winter’s cold.

“Game of Thrones” Review By Jeremy Rives Journalism Student
The hit HBO series, “Game of Thrones,” is back for another epic adventure. The premiere of the show’s fifth season airs on April 12. Returning members include Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage, and Natalie Dormer, among others. The show’s highly anticipated return is expected to have record breaking views. In the previous seasons, 9 noble families fought over the mythical land of Westeros. Many of the families have fallen or been broken since the first season. However, this time around, the underdog families start to emerge from the shadows, threatening the family currently in power, the Lannisters.

teacher. The filming of the hour long episodes for the season took place in more than 3 countries. Viewers should expect new locations and new characters of the world of Westeros. With these changes, the show’s plot may diverge from that of the book, but the show
will still remain an excellent adaption of the book with great acting and an excellent story. As the queen of Westeros, Cersei Lannister, once said, “When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die.” Tune in to see who is willing to play the “Game of Thrones” this April.
Zayn Malik quits One Direction Zayn Malik chooses different direction, causing world-wide depression By Joseph Vasquez Journalism Student
March 25, 2015 is what some girls may call the worst day of their lives, the day in which Zayn Malik officially left One Direction. One Direction is an English-Irish boy band that was created on the UK version of ‘X Factor.’ The band is now made up of Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson. The announcement came out through a Facebook status on Tues., March 25. One Direc-
tions fan base members, who call themselves ‘Directioners,’ were completely horrified at the news. “I was really distraught about him leaving, I cried for hours and I was too emotionally exhausted to go to school the next day,” said Lizzie Trostle, senior . When talking to people who are not fans of One Direction, they had opposite reactions. “I didn't care at all about the break up, but it was hilarious seeing everybody cry about it,” said Christina Concillio, sophomore. The reasoning behind his

The band will continue on with their world tour as a 4 piece band and Zayn Malik will continue on with his own 22 year old life, and maybe he will eventually embark on a solo career. “I'd like to apologize to the fans if I've let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart,” said Zayn Malik in the official announcement on their Facebook page.

Many Freedom High School students may have already read “The Glass Castle” as a mandatory summer reading assignment for Honors English 10. “’The Glass Castle’ was probably the only mandatory book I enjoyed reading in my 4 years at Freedom,” said Zak Gagnon, senior. If you are a student who never read it, I highly recommend it. “The Glass Castle” is an uncommon memoir about a young girl with a very different and dysfunctional upbringing. Most of Jeannette Walls’ childhood memories
are of her and her family Mom, Dad, Lori, Brian, and, later, baby Maureen - doing what her dad calls “the skedaddle.” This usually means the family gathering all their belongings very quickly from where they are currently residing, and driving to the next quiet, desert town. Walls’ father tells the kids their constant moving is because someone is after them, like the mafia or FBI. “I think this is a great memoir written by a woman who learned a lot and came very far in life. Her parents and nomad lifestyle didn’t provide any sort of support or stability, and she really had to raise herself,” said Maya White,
sophomore. When the Walls’ father is sober, he is a smart and caring dad who wants nothing more than to educate his children and teach them to live their lives fearlessly. However, whenever they have a little extra money, he spends it on liquor and becomes destructive and angry. Wall’s mother is the definition of a free spirit. When the romance faded from her parent’s marriage, her father would disappear for days at a time, which left the kids fending for themselves at a very young age. Later, Jeannette and her siblings found the will to leave their parents and go to New York to finally live normal lives.
What is surprising about Jeannette Walls’ is that in her writing she never talks down about her parents. She speaks of them with only love and admiration. Her story is about staying strong and the unconditional love her family has for each other. Even through rough patches and living as simple as possible, she still had wonderful memories and appreciates the way she was brought up and now lives a successful life with a husband of her own. “I think the book really shows how difficult it is to grow up basically alone, and it makes the appreciate the opportunities I have in my own life,” said White.

Switching up the teams in the NFL Many players are changing teams in the 2015 NFL By TJ Schaeffer Journalism Student On Feb. 1st, the Super Bowl was played and the Patriots emerged as the best team in the league. Now, fans have to wait for September for the season to begin again. However, in September, many players will not be playing for the same team they played for last year. This year’s NFL offseason has been nothing less than great. Many very good players, including LeSean McCoy, Jimmy Graham, Haloti Ngata, have been traded to other teams for either young prospects and valuable draft picks. McCoy was traded from the Phila-
delphia Eagles to the Buffalo Bills for inside linebacker Kiko Alonso, Graham was traded from the New Orleans Saints to the Seattle Seahawks for center Max Unger and draft picks, and Ngata was traded from the Baltimore Ravens to the Detroit Lions for draft picks. Besides trades, many players have also changed teams this offseason via free agency. Many notables include Ndamukong Suh, Demarco Murray, and Darrelle Revis. Suh went from the Lions to the Miami Dolphins for a record-breaking contract of 6 years/$114 milliondollar deal, Revis went from the New England Patriots (whom he just won a
Super Bowl ring with) to his original team, New York Jets, for a 5 year/$70 million-dollar deal, and Murray went from the Dallas Cowboys to their rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles, for a 5 year/$42 million-dollar deal. Least to say, its been a crazy offseason to remember. “I was really shocked by the McCoy trade,” said Chrystain Simmons, freshman.
