Tutor: Ir. Adi Utomo Hatmoko, M.Arch., IAI Many people think that architecture student are individual and anti-social. In otherside, It’s quite difficult to introduce architecture to others as we’re so busy with our task and have no time to socialize. Related to that issue, we need to redesign our campus to be more friendly so it can also introduce what architecture really is. This campus building is designed to give visitor many space and visual experience so they can understand by themselves how’s life in architecture, what we do, and what we produce.

In Yogyakarta, there are many residential housing sprawl in the riverside which coming as the result of the lack of land avaibility and the high price of housing near the city center. that is the problem that lead people, especially newcomers to build house irresponsibly near the river, even over the setback which is so unsave for them. Related to that issue, we deicide to redesign a vertical social housing around the Code Riverside.
Analysing common circulation path on site using UCL Depthmap. Red lines indicate major / main circulation and the green ones indicate minor
2nd floor plan | commercial
Public facilities are provided on every five floors to support the needs of residents consisting of markets, department stores, public open spaces, worship, etc.
The main circulation path then be used as a pattern to design the main pedestian road
12nd floor plan | Residential
Sunlight and air circulation enter the building through the pores of the building in the form of a green public space on each floor. Hot air will move up through the void area in the middle of the building.
The main building is placed among the main circulations for easy access and the remaining space can be use as public space .
10th floor plan | Public Facilities
the building is designed to be able to absorb rainwater in place. Rainwater is absorbed by vertical plants to reduce the speed of falling water then accommodated in the reservoir under the building.

Knowing that the existing site is a productive land, designing a siteplan with a conventional way will trigger another productive land nearby to be convert into building too. moreover, the floor area of the building needed is not so big that it will left many area unused (in islamic term it is called Mubadzir)
Designing compact and integrated siteplan and minimize the use of land will preserve more productive land so it is can be used for the benefit of the mosque and the people. it will also raise awareness about agricultural issue among the people in the city
The Perimeter road is designed as a border to anticipate the potential of productive land corvertion and building spreading near the mosque complex. This circular access also give possibility to connect with the existing road from all direction. it also can reduce the traffic jam along the narrow existing roads

Tourism Hub in North Sulawesi Team: Alfian Reza | Ni Putu Prawita C
As a new tourism destination, there are so many hidden gems in Likupang that haven’t been explored. The lack of information and infrastucture are the main reasons. To answer that issue, a Tourism Hub is proposed as a facility that not only gives information, but also provides accomodation for tourists to explore those hidden gems spreaded across the islands. Inspired by the Traditional House of Walewangko and Local weaving craftmanship, This Tourism Hub is designed to connect the separated tourism spot while introducing local culture and it’s beauty through space experience and various activities that can be accomodate

Mass & Orientation
Responding the site shape and orientation of the sun, the building is designed as a slender rectangular mass placed toward east-west to maximize the view and natural daylight.
Program arrangement
Programs needed in Rest Area are arranged sequentially from the most crowded to the least crowded or program that need calm atmosphere. While in other side, the pedestrian circulation is placed continously and parallel with the vehicle circulation so it can reduce the possibility of traffict accidents caused by the cross circulations.
1. Car Parking 2. Bus Parking 3. Entrance Hall 4. Kiosk & Souvenirshop 5. Storage 6. Indoor Restaurant 7. Kitchen 8. Relaxation room 9. Spa room 10. Fish therapy 11. Performing Stage 12. Inserting Green & Blue Elements
Plants and trees are added to the area where people need to feel relax & quite as it could be a noise barrier from the traffic of the vehicles in front. Meanwhile, retention pond is inserted in the middle of the complex, not only to collect rainwater runoff but also to cool the area down by increaseing the wind movement using the temperature difference or usually known as passive cooling.
Generating Expandable Indoor & Outdoor Space
To optimize budget and maintenance cost, The functional spaces are reduced as much as possible so it will produce semi outdoor / lounge spaces that are cheaper but more flexible and can be used to expand the main program if needed. that is a respond to the fluctuating number of visitors in every year.

Passive Cooling occurs by utilizing the difference of temperature & air presure on the north and south side of the building. The wind blows from the north, brings droplets of water from the pond and spreads it throughout the building so the fresh air and cool temperature can always be obtained without Air Conditioner.

Passive Cooling occurs by utilizing the difference of temperature & air presure on the north and south side of the building. The wind blows from the north, brings droplets of water from the pond and spreads it throughout the building so the fresh air and cool temperature can always be obtained without Air Conditioner.

New Urban & Culture Linkage
Team: Alfian Reza | Kevin Oscar | Jundi Shalahuddin
The high number of vehicles and mobility of people in urban areas to work demands sufficient infrastructure, e.g. public parking spaces. In other hand, city development and infrastructure building should not ignore the characteristics of the city itself that rich of value and history. Being in the old town neighbourhood and adjacent to the tourist objects, Slamet Riyadi Parking Park should be able to lift the image of the neighbourhood as well as a new landmark that can coexist with the development of urban society.

Spread Warmth out of the Minimum Space Team: Alfian Reza | Ahmad Muarif
Living needs in urban district are getting higher day by day. the economic pressure, job competition and modern lifestyle turn people into an individual character. House which is the character expression of the inhabitant, now become more exclusive and lack of social interaction. high and massive wall, closed fence, seemed like it’s showing a distrust to the surrounding neighborhood. In short, we need a house that could be a medium to bring back the good relationship between the inhabitant with the surrounding neighbourhood Alfnrzlmdjd. |26

Published on Archdaily, Architizer, and Designboom Contribution : Person in charge, coordinating Structure Engineer Contractor and Wood Factory Production, Massing Study, 3D Modelling, Rendering & Post Rendering, Producing diagram & Images, Producing Detailed Drawing, Supervising Contruction from mockup making on factory to realization on site.
The Microlibrary Warak Kayu is the fifth built project within the Microlibrary series – an initiative to increase reading interest by creating socially-performative multi-functional community spaces with environmentally-conscious design and materials, which aim to serve low-income neighborhoods. The architectural concept is to free the ground for multiple functions, while the library is elevated at the second floor. By elevating the library, various spatial configurations, multiple programs and a wide range of activities can be offered. on the ground is a large semi outdoor area which can be used for workshops, as well as a wide tribune seating at the entrance for watching presentations or movies, and to grab the kids’ attention: a wooden swing. the ground area is framed by a ring of planter boxes to create a more intimate atmosphere. upstairs in the library itself, there is a net where kids can lie down, relax and read but also directly communicate with parents and friends in the space underneath.

The design process includes a bottom-up process, where all available products in the factory were first evaluated, and the design was developed from that. as one of the design exploration results, the brise soleil was based on the ‘zollinger bauweise’ construction system, which was developed in 1920s germany. it is a form of reciprocal system, resulting in a distinctive slightly shifted diamond pattern. this pattern happens to resemble a local mythical creature ‘warak ngendog’ and its dragon-like skin, displayed during annual festivals in semarang. hence the name warak kayu in indonesian – meaning wooden warak – which is a positive narrative for communicating the design to a wider audience.

AL-MANAN MOSQUE Supervisor: Florian Heinzelmann | f.heinzelmann@shau.nl
Team (SHAU Architect)| Ongoing| 2019 Contribution : Detailing 3D Model, Designing Interior, Producing images & Diagram
This Mosque comprises a simple volume on top of a plateau that is surrounded by trees on the backside and overlooking the landscape & ponds on the front side (towards Mecca). Due to the natural character of the area, it was decided to design a more serene building which will be constructed from gabions filled with rocks coming from a close by quarry. Due to the stacking of rough rocks and resulting gaps, the interior will have a coincidental ornamentation of light spots. The plateau with flowing water is a visual connection towards the ponds and due to the circular shape, it can be used for practicing the Tawaf before doing one’s pilgrimage to Mecca (Manasik Haji).

BOTANICAL PARK
Team (SHAU Architect)| Proposal| 2019-2020 Contribution : Designing Buildings, producing buildings & siteplan images,
Supervisor: Daliana Suryawinata | d.suryawinata@shau.nl
Batam Botanical Park is a 85 hectare land area dedicated to the collection, cultivation, preservation and display of a wide range of plants expecially archipelago type of plants, including palms, bushes, and mangroves. This Botanical park has been designed before, but along the way, there were some problems with the design execution so that the project was put on hold and looked abandoned for some times. To restart this projcet, first we need to do the masterplan design review, followed by some design solution to optimize the existing program . As part of the design review, we checked all the existing infrastructure as they are all need to be preserved according to the regulation. hence, at the design phase, there are not much change from the main zoning and circulation. but to optimize visitor’s experience , we prolong the circulation with pedestrian path that are more attractive and add a circular jogging track around the reservoir. Not only address the circulation and landscape problem, we also proposed some building / pavilium to support the botanical park programs. there area visitor center, restaurant, Mosque ,viewing tower etc. Although having fluid and different shapes, most of the buildings are basically designed with some similar systems so it is easier to construct; those are stilt structure (as a reintrepetation of traditional house design), ruled surfaced roof, and concrete plate.

Healthy Haus is a response to the urban living conditions of Indonesians, especially for those living around densely populated areas like Jakarta. The basic idea is to provide future residents with a house that becomes a ‘machine’ for well-being. Layout and gross floor area of the house are modelled after carefully studying existing residential homes to provide a solution that is highly acceptable for the local market as well as offers additional benefits, namely a healthy living environment that could be well integrated into existing real estate development mechanisms.

The site is located in undeveloped area near a residential complex. As negative space with only trees and bushes, there are not many acitivities can be found in this place other than people throwing their rubbish. Therefor The objective of this project is tryng to activate this unused land with programs and activities so it could be a kind of playground and social space for the people in the neighborhood especially the children.

Coverting green area into an active park is sometimes tricky. There is a regulation of minimum green coverage ratio that need to be preserved while we designing and adding new infrastructures. Therefore, a pixellate park concept with modular size of infrastructure is used as a basic design to blend the infrastrucutres and the greeneries as well as simplify the green area calcuation.

Public Park + FACILITIES
CHINGU cafe
in Desa Tamansari
Type : Restaurant | Design Client : Chingu Year : 2018
Type : Public Park | Voluntary design & build Client : Goverment of Tamansari Village Year : 2016
in around July 2016, i joined KKN-PPM UGM program in Tamansari, Banyuwangi. Our main project there was rebranding the village as a tourism village and i was asked to design a small park in front of vllage’s administration office. Actually the headman just wanted to renovate the front fence, but after some discussion we decided to buil a park for public, ecpecially for kid considering there were many children playing around everytime i came. Using some local material like stone, flowers, and bermuda grasses, this park aimed to greet the visitor to the village as well as became am iconic public space for villagers, especially for the children
To be stand out among other korean restaurant, Chingu doesn’t just serve korean foods and beverages, but also give a unique experience to the the visitor as if they’re in korea. To support that idea, the building was designed with a large outdoor space in the center with street furnitures, and riverside landscape, where people can enjoy 360 o view of korean city scene as the buildings around was decorated with korean style shop facade. Those buildings are actually the dining space that connected each other with a inner circulation to ease the service.

GRAPHIC DESIGN WORKS Basically i have an interest in all kind of design, especially graphic design. And it’s been a long time even since i haven’t known architecture. In the last 5 years, i’ve been working on various kind of graphic design project such as poster design, logo design, and branding. i also joined 99design and won some competitions. For me, doing graphic design is kind of refreshing when i got stuck in an architecture project. Moreover, i think graphic design has given good contributions in my architecture works. It trained my sense of aesthetic, unity, and composition when i had to do board layouting. That’s also the reason why in every project, i frequently take some times just to design the building’s logo or signage.
