FIDIC, the International Federation of Consulting Engineers, is the global representative body for national associations of consulting engineers and represents over one million engineering professionals and 40,000 firms in approximately 100 countries worldwide. The buildings and infrastructure sector in which FIDIC members work contributes around US$36trillion to global GDP.
Founded in 1913, FIDIC is charged with promoting and implementing the consulting engineering industry s strategic goals on behalf of its member associations and disseminating information and resources of interest to its members.
FIDIC Objectives
• Be the recognised international authority on issues relating to consulting engineering best practice. • Actively promote high standards of ethics and integrity among all stakeholders involved in the development of infrastructure worldwide. • Maintain and enhance FIDIC s representation of the consulting engineering industry worldwide. • Enhance the image of consulting engineering. • Promote and assist the worldwide development of viable consulting engineering industries. • Promote and enhance the leading position of FIDIC s forms of contract. • Improve and develop FIDIC s training and publishing activities. • To promote and encourage the development of FIDIC Future Leaders in the consulting engineering industry.

FIDIC board committees
FIDIC is transparent and accountable to its members, stakeholders and clients. Information on the deliberations of our board, committees and task groups are made available via the FIDIC website and we issue regular press releases and statements on FIDIC s work.
FIDIC is governed by a set of statutes and bylaws which have been agreed by member associations and are updated as required and ratified at the General Assembly Meetings (GAM) during the annual conference.
These statutes and bylaws govern a range of issues including membership, the election of the board and the running of various committees and operations.
