OUR IMPACT

20 Years of Improving Learning Environments Worldwide
This past year has incredible significance for our firm, as we became a Certified B Corporation™.
Fielding International was the first school design firm to receive B Corp certification, joining a global movement of companies committed to using business as a force for good. Together, we are a community of businesses using our collective power to solve some of the world’s most pressing challenges, such as climate change, inequality, and—in our position—education. Our certification signals our commitment to our people, projects and the communities we serve around the world.
This accolade is a vivid reflection of our commitment — a tangible manifestation of the hard work and passion poured into every project, every community interaction, and every innovation we introduce to the world. We’re not just talking about making a difference; we’re living it, with social integrity, environmental care, and ethical practices at the forefront of what we do.
At our core, we believe in creating more than structures; we believe in fostering environments where learning thrives. The B Corp ethos echoes our own, and our certification further strengthens our resolve to push the boundaries and elevate our impact on society and the environment. We’re not just continuing on our path; we’re aiming higher, driven to inspire our clients, colleagues, and collaborators to effect lasting, positive change.
Our journey to becoming a B Corp has been transformative, shedding light on how we can deepen our positive footprint. It’s been a path of growth, learning, and betterment — a journey we’re excited to share with transparency, as has been our tradition, through our writings and resources like SchoolPatterns.com and the establishment of our new educator network, the “Global Learning Commons.”
Choosing to work with Fielding International is choosing a partner that’s deeply committed to excellence in education and design. We are fueled by the vision that responsible, thoughtful, innovative school design can revolutionize learning experiences worldwide.
Looking to the future, we’re ready to leverage our B Corp standing to spur significant shifts in our industry and beyond. With a firm belief in the power of business as a force for good, we’re here to innovate, inspire, and invite others to take this journey with us.
Join us as we chart new courses for success in business and education — courses where our collective impact can leave a lasting impact for generations to come.
With warm regards and a shared vision,
The Leadership Team at Fielding International

We are mission-driven.
Our dedication is rooted in a mission-driven approach, ensuring that each project we undertake is aligned with our core purpose and values.
Project Highlight: Cranston Public Schools
Since our founding, our commitment to guiding, creating, and designing engaging learning environments has been evident in all our endeavors.
In 2023, we celebrated a significant milestone with a long-standing client, Cranston Public Schools (CPS). This year marked the opening of Garden City Elementary, a project we are immensely proud to have contributed to. Over the years, our collaboration with the district has established a strong groundwork for the planning and design of these innovative learning environments.
The project serves as a shining example of what can be achieved when a collective effort is made to realize a shared educational vision.
The Cranston Story
Before
After
Collaborating with Cranston Public Schools since 2018, Fielding has transformed the district’s educational experiences. From our work incorporating the voices of educators, students, and community in a strategic master planning process, to the architectural design of new schools and spaces, and the teaching of how to use those spaces to their maximum potential, we have helped shape the future of learning for thousands of students.
The first Fielding-designed project for CPS was a Learning Community Pathfinder at Eden Park Elementary School. This saw the transformation of a dated wing of isolated classrooms into a dynamic Learning Community, as seen above.
The project was such a success, that in 2023, Fielding worked with the district to produce a series of short films documenting how and why the learning environment is so effective.
In 2023, Garden City Elementary School opened its doors, with Fielding serving as the architect behind its design. The building is a exemplar of a future-ready, learner-centered school.
With a dynamic variety of spaces, incredible attention to detail for sound and lighting, and stunning connections to nature, Garden City Elementary stands as a testament to a district committed to cultivating equity, wellness, and inclusion.
Designing Space is just the Beginning
Fielding Learning Designers worked closely with Garden City staff in the year leading up to opening to assist in the transition to a new spatial paradigm. They are working with educators and instructional coaches across the district to implement high-quality project-based learning, and are organizing student experiences at Gladstone Elementary (the next new build school) to ensure youth are authentic co-designers.
A "Furniture Design Shark Tank Experience" is their latest project. This kind of integration goes way beyond creating beautiful spaces; it’s part of a holistic approach to design schools where all learners thrive.

What an amazing range of creativity and brilliance I see around me. Each of us is unique and beautifully different, and yet we all work together; supporting each other so that we can each be our best selves. This mindset, supporting every learner individually, is exactly what our firm’s mission has been since its inception 20 years ago.

Fielding's Volunteer Time Off (VTO) Employee Benefit
Fielding International exemplifies the ethos of an employee-driven organization, where each team member’s unique talents and unwavering dedication are central to our global impact. The heart of our success lies in a diverse array of skills, knowledge, and passion that our people bring to work every day. We take immense pride in our Volunteer Time Off employee benefit, a testament to our belief in purposeful work. This program empowers our employees to extend their impact beyond company initiatives, touching lives and enhancing communities worldwide. We stand united in our mission to foster growth, learning, and prosperity through meaningful connections. At Fielding International, we are more than a team; we are catalysts for positive change, nurturing flourishing environments where every interaction has the potential to spark transformation.
In August 2023, Associate Designer Allyza Danica Valino had the opportunity to work with the International Design Clinic (IDC) and Indalo World - two non-profit organizations providing design work to underserved communities. This year’s project was to construct a new pavilion for the Penguin Learn and Play Centre, a small preschool located in Walmer Township, one of the lower-income areas of Port Elizabeth, South Africa. The current conditions forced the teacher, Blommie Nontshinga, to sacrifice her home to provide neighborhood children a proper education - her biggest goal was to teach her students English, which would permit them to attend higher-quality primary, secondary, and post-secondary schools. The design team spent three months planning the building’s design in the United States, then spent three weeks on-site building and redesigning the building based on site conditions, the availability and quantities of salvaged materials, and time constraints. Within that time frame, the team was able to construct a covered pavilion space that could house the preschool.
The creation of the Penguin Learn and Play Centre stands as a powerful testament to our unwavering commitment to fostering excellence in education on a global scale. This new space creates greater opportunities for teaching and learning and not only caters to the nurturing of young minds, but also promotes gathering and collaboration within the community: after school hours, the space may be used for community meetings, celebrations, and services. The Penguin Play and Learn Centre Pavilion emerges as a testament to the collective dedication to the holistic growth and development of future generations alongside their communities.

We are purpose-driven.
We are committed to building strong, vibrant communities through a purpose-driven strategy that emphasizes partnerships, unity, collaboration, and shared success.
In 2023, we deepened our connections with clients and communities, showcasing significant progress in social responsibility, community engagement, collaboration, and teamwork.
This is exemplified by the establishment of the "Global Learning Commons," a Fielding International-led dedicated educators' network for learning and professional development, and greater steps taken in the planning and hosting of inclusive community engagement events to showcase educational change that resonate with our client communities.
• Expanded Social Responsibility

Community Engagement and Reimagining Learning Spaces
In a demonstration of deep community engagement and shared vision, Fielding proudly hosted a night of community engagement and reimagining learning spaces, a pivotal event in the collaborative journey with Hopkins Public Schools. This Fall event, in collaboration with Hopkins Public Schools, was not just an exhibition but a celebration of innovation in educational design. Attendees were immersed in an interactive gallery, complete with virtual reality tours, allowing them to step into the reimagined learning spaces, seamlessly bridging the present with the future.
The highlight of the event was the unveiling of five Fielding-designed groundbreaking “Pathfinder” concepts for Hopkins, each crafted to revolutionize educational environments. These designs, aligning with the district’s Vision 2031, symbolize a significant stride towards a new era in educational space design. This collaboration exemplifies the impact of a shared vision and deep community engagement in shaping spaces that inspire and nurture future generations.
We are thought-driven.
