Designers: KGD [Norway]
Luka Maurer [Switzerland ]
Jewellery designer Kaja Gjedebo conveys her product design background into a wide range of light, yet sophisticated paper cut inspired jewels. Her collections are defined by delicate, romantic and mysterious nuances, forged with silver and gold and embellished with Akoya pearls. Clearly influenced by the architectural structures spanning from the 1930s to the 1970s, Kaja aims to produce 100% Norwegian products, working with local factories and craftsmen both in the development and production.
Luka Maurer’s aim is clear : the exploration and adaptation of the traditional three piece suit. According to the winner of the 2011 Best Fashion Design Collection, HEAD, Geneva, male clothing has not changed since the 19th century, though our expectations have. By revisiting the well-founded elegance of the past and adapting it to the modern man, Luka Maurer delivers a wearable, sophisticated and bold AW12/13 collection, which comprises a strong, sensual dimension.

lupe gajardo [Chile]
MAX.TAN [Singapore]
One of the most prominent talents of the South American continent makes her debut in Europe for the first time with a brand new clothing collection. Lupe’s inspirations lie in the social and political movements of her native country, with her new collection focusing on the encounter of Chilean cultures and aesthetics. Silk, cotton, linen and denim are Lupe’s signature fabrics, according to a clear message of quality over quantity and a firm belief in slow fashion.
A rising star of the Asian fashion design world, Max.Tan has been considered since its debut at Modafabriek in 2010 one of the most important emerging Asian labels to be on the lookout for. Max.tan’s designs explore minimalism by maintaining somber colours, whilst carefully tailoring unconventional shapes. Though constantly aiming to reinvent itself with every collection, they all share one thing in common: the deconstruction of pre-established social boundaries and identities.

Franziska Michael [Germany]
glaw [Germany]
Red is Franziska’s trademark colour, which combined with the sharp and angular shapes and contrasting materials of her collections give rise to dynamic, yet structured designs. Upon completing her studies from the Berlin branch of the international fashion school ESMOD, Franziska gained practical experience within the fashion industry before starting her own label in 2009. Her first collection, quin[z] tessenz, was inspired by Arne Quinze’s sculptures, which defy and control the surrounding chaos through asymmetrical, yet harmonious forms.
Feminine elegance, harmoniously juxtaposed to cool and refreshing cuts, form the basis of the Berlin based label Glaw. Nostalgic nuances of times gone by reflect the architectural, artistic and literary inspirations of founders Jesko Wilke and Maria Poweleit, recent graduates of the Berlin branch of the International Academy of Fashion ESMOD. The feel and colour palate of their AW12/13 collection recall the works of painter Caspar David Friedrich, remodelling traditional silhouettes and forms through tie-dyed leathers and hearty reds, updating them to a modern context.

www.glaw-berlin.com Fabric Division [Italy] Industrial designer Enrico Assirelli and costume and fashion designer Linda Crivellari form the Faenza based fashion label Fabric Division. A minimalist and geometric approach to fashion is associated with a neutral colour palette of earthy and sandy shades. Highly technical fabrics, neoprene, fake leather and soft viscose caress and accentuate the wearer’s figure, expressed through unisex cuts conceived to embrace and accompany every movement. www.fabricdivision.com
