FIESTA BOWL Nacda
Fiesta Bowl and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) partnered for the fourth year to recognize the volunteerism and community outreach efforts by a NCAA Division I institution. This year Vanderbilt was selected for its Dancing Dores program and Vanderbilt University Dance Marathon. A 13-hour event allows student-athletes to meet, play games and interact with Miracle Families with sick or injured children. In the months leading up to the event, athletic teams raised $42,000 in pre-event fundraising and another $18,000 in 24 hours for match day for the hospital.
To support the next generation of leaders in the college athletics industry, a John McLendon Minority Postgraduate Scholarship is awarded by the Fiesta Bowl annually to a student associated with an Arizona-based four-year institution. This year’s recipient was Sophia Elenga, who graduated from Arizona State University and plans to continue her education in sport law and business.
