WELCOME As what has been a glorious summer comes to an end and we move into autumn and winter, I find myself thinking of how I want to spend those evenings and thus looking to our new brochure for inspiration and there is so much to choose from! We’ve got a host of live music, drama and children’s performances to keep you entertained through to January inclusive of 80s pop heartthrob Jason Donovan, Runrig frontman Donnie Munro, X Factor sensations G4, disco king Leo Sayer and rock godfathers Wishbone Ash. This season also sees the return of our ON Fife Comedy Café, with a number of top names set to make you cry with laughter. And of course it wouldn’t be Christmas without panto, and this year we’ve a real treat in store for you with our production of Beauty & The Beast at Adam Smith Theatre, while Carnegie sees the return of Tiny Little Christmas with lots of workshops, and if we’re very lucky, a visit from the man in red himself! Our new exhibition Paper From Across The Sea opens at Dunfermline Carnegie Libraries & Galleries whilst Kirkcaldy Galleries celebrates 120 Years of Kirkcaldy Photographic Society, with a major retrospective taking place alongside some fascinating talks and events.
Calamity Jane, and our increasingly popular discos. As well as National Libraries Week (October) and Bookweek Scotland (November), our Fun Palaces bring art and science together in a range of fun activities and workshops for all ages. It’s Scotland’s Year of Young People 2018 and we’ve got a wealth of events which celebrate the extraordinary skills and talents of Fife’s young people. In addition to our fantastic co-productions with Youth Music Theatre Scotland’s West Side Story and the National Theatre of Scotland’s Lots and Not Lots, we’ll have you rocking out at a gig run in partnership with a group of winter high school leavers on Friday 2nd November at the Rothes Halls as part of our Dark Days Project. From Shakespeare to spooktacular crafts across your local library, there’s something for both the young and the young at heart. I look forward to seeing you at some of our events and performances across ON Fife this season. As ever, this is only a snapshot of what our treasure-trove of venues have to offer – so do visit us at onfife.com or follow us across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for daily news and updates.

Vashti Bunyan / Audiobooks / Michael Pedersen Vashti Bunyan’s debut album Just Another Diamond Day (1970) became a cult-classic. It was rediscovered and rereleased in 2000 to huge mainstream acclaim. Vashti began writing again and her second album Lookaftering was released in 2005. Audiobooks (Evangeline Ling and David Wrench) songs are full of stories. There are woozy fly on the wall accounts of boozy art gallery openings and out of body journeys through the capital at night, all stretched out over stuttering, glitchy glam electronics. Michael Pedersen is a poet and a co-founder of the literary collective Neu! Reekie!

Retold by Scotland’s Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy, featuring music by Dr Who Composer Murray Gold, costumes from Game of Thrones costume designer Michele Clapton and narration from Ben Crompton (Eddison Tollett in Game Of Thrones), wonder at this adaption of the Grimm fairytale, spectacularly spun out on stage.
Antarctic Explorer Ernest Shackleton’s Carpenter, Harry McNish, was the only man who challenged the adventurer on the ice floes of Antarctica. Shackleton’s Endurance sank in Antarctica, leaving him and his crew of 27 stranded. McNish, brilliant carpenter and shipwright, defied his captain but went all the way with him, playing a vital role in ensuring all 28 were saved. Relive his journey this October with this captivating studio piece.
Having previously stunned Fifers with their take on Rapunzel, one of the UK’s premier ballet companies returns with this phenomenal adaptation, following the story of a shunned outsider. Rumpelstiltskin is the original super mutant, and fairytale X-man.
