David Mach: Odyssey UNTIL SUN 2 FEB 2020 Internationally renowned artist and sculptor David Mach has created a large-scale installation out of shipping containers, sea-worn wood, shipping buoys and tonnes of newspapers. Completed in October, the artist explained the significance of his chosen materials: “Sea containers carry the world’s stuff. We make, we produce, we trade. We use these boxes to hold our ideas and designs. It’s no wonder they appear like Greek temples, their long ribbed sides replicating pillars, their short gable ends holding the doors to the Aladdin’s Cave inside.” With the support of DC Thomson Media, The Sunday Post, Fife Group and Briggs Marine. Tae a Bard Robert Burns exhibition SAT 7 DEC – SUN 19 APR 2020 Dunfermline Carnegie Library & Galleries houses an eclectic selection of Robert Burns books and memorabilia, gathered over 40 years by 19th century businessman John Murison, who created his own private library from a life-long obsession with all things Burns. Acknowledged as one of the finest in existence, the collection was later bought by Sir Alexander Gibb, head of the firm which built Rosyth Naval Dockyard, who, in honour of friendships forged in Dunfermline, presented the collection to the town in 1921. Whether you are one of the legions of Burns fans or just curious to find out more about our National Bard, this is a very rare opportunity to see many of these gems on display – be prepared to be surprised! – and enjoy an exciting programme of events celebrating the man and his work. As the seasons unfold through a cycle of sensory poems (told by a very small, very shy, furry little poet) we meet a writer who has come to the woods for inspiration – and finds the greatest things in the tiniest of spaces. Musical, tactile, curious and sweet, this play is a love letter to living moment to moment. A lyrical story created for small children and their adults to cosy in and enjoy blending puppetry and poetry.

Luckily, there’s one on hand... and his name is Shrek. Shrek The Musical is a Tony Award-winning fairy tale adventure based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film. It features all new songs from a side-splitting book. Shrek brings all the beloved characters you know from the film to life on stage and proves there’s more to the story than meets the ears.

SAT 30 MAY 7.30PM £18.50 / CONC £16.50 From the award-winning creators of Austen’s Women, I, Elizabeth, Orlando, Christmas Gothic and Jane Eyre: An Autobiography. August 5, 1962. Monroe as we’ve never seen her before: alone in her bedroom, in dressing gown; no glitz, no glamour, no masks. Overdosed on pills, the woman behind the icon unravels her remarkable life, taking us back through the memories of her closest relationships. Repeatedly stalked by a mysterious caller, the Hollywood icon tells all – Joe DiMaggio, Clark Gable, Arthur Miller, her mother… it’s all here – revealing a biting intelligence and an imperfect body, leading us in real time to the very moment of her death. Written and directed by Elton Townend Jones (Dalloway, Orlando, Jane Eyre: An Autobiography, The Time Machine) and performed by Lizzie Wort (RSC’s The Magician’s Daughter, Animal Farm). Winner of the Three Weeks Editors Award. “A simply stunning production.” ★★★★★ (Edinburgh Reporter) “‘Superlative.” ★★★★★ (Remotegoat)
