For film buffs, make sure you get a copy of our separate ON Screen brochure available at all our venues. ON at Fife doesn’t only present work on our stages – we create new work, through producing, co-producing, and artists in residence, as well as supporting local arts organisations and arts education and community programmes in order to create opportunities for all to get involved. ON at Fife, together with Jazz Scotland, have recently launched a year-long community music project in central Fife – The Band, funded by Creative Scotland as part of the nationwide Year of Creative Scotland 2012. Andrew Dixon, Chief Executive of
Creative Scotland with Joe Temperley
The Band aims to engage people in central Fife in music making – playing, singing, and listening – in particular targeting people who have never made music before. World-famous saxophonist Joe Temperley – originally from Lochgelly – was officially appointed patron of The Band in February; you can find out more on our website. Check out www.onfife.com to find out more about all our events, creative work, courses and classes across Fife. From the Producers of The Naked Truth
Guilty Pleasures A Raunchy Comedy Written by Ron Aldridge, directed by Stephen Leatherland. Set in a “ladies only” health spa, this riotous play follows the comedic misadventures of GC – the bold and brazen spa owner, and his hilarious staff of fantasy men. Fun ensues as they try to fulfil the special requests of their demanding female clients, but when things start to get out of control, will they escape unscathed?
ADULTS ONLY
With an all star cast featuring David Van Day (I’m a Celebrity, Dollar) as hapless spa owner GC, Marc Bannerman (Eastenders) as hunky heart-throb Gordon, the gorgeous Craig Chalmers (Scottish star of Joseph) as Tommy alongside Egghead C J de Mooi, as you’ve never seen him before, playing the passionate intellectual Simon. Also starring Pauline Fleming (Coronation Street) as the sophisticated Mrs M, a lady of (p)leisure and the long suffering Tilly played by Terri Dwyer (star of Hollyoaks and former presenter of Loose Women). As all their various stories unfold and unravel, you share their laughter and tears in this hilarious production with a bittersweet edge. This is probably the funniest and sauciest play to hit the UK stage since The Naked Truth.

Passing Places Sit back, belt up, and get ready for a dramatic rollercoaster ride around Scotland! Motherwell lads Alex and Brian are desperate to leave their dead-end jobs. They decide to get out the only way they know how – by doing a runner with Alex’s psychopathic boss’s prized surfboard. They hit the road in a clapped-out “borrowed” Lada and head north for Thurso, where the surf is up all year round. On the way they meet beautiful girls, strange characters and hippy travellers. Between the laugh-a-minute one-liners and pin-sharp wit, there’s a serious undertone which turns this light-hearted farce into a moving, thought-provoking drama.

Time Gentlemen Please! Featuring the Demon Barber Roadshow Some of the UK’s oldest forms of dance are brought bang up to date as they collide with some of the youngest in this exciting new dance show. This fast-paced and innovative show brings together some of the UK’s top folk, clog, sword and Morris dancers with their counterparts from the worlds of B-boying, popping, krump and beatbox. The show, the brainchild of award-winning folk band The Demon Barbers, in collaboration with Yorkshire Dance and developed thanks to funding from Arts Council England, sees a group of street dancers arrive at an apparently deserted pub. As the regulars arrive, however, a clash of cultures turns into a dance floor stand-off. The skill, speed and athleticism of the dancers on both sides soon wins the others over as the old and new are brought together in an exciting and dynamic dance-off. Sword dances are performed with snooker-cues, pub bouncers dance competitive Morris and B-boys flirt with clog girls. “a consistently lively entertaining music and dance performance virtually guaranteed to raise weary spirits and send an audience home smiling.” The Times “...more exciting musically and choreographically than Riverdance or Stomp. Someone should give this show a West End run.” Songlines PAGE 36

Shakatak Shakatak have enjoyed a level of success and career longevity rarely paralleled in contemporary music – but then they are a particularly unusual group. To date they have produced in excess of 50 albums and have featured in the UK singles charts for 85 weeks. Their fan base is one that is far reaching whilst always retaining an ‘underground’ element! This paradox sees the band, who are known primarily as serious jazz/funk musicians, enjoying both ‘cult ’ status and instant recognition as a household name. Re-live the classic Night Birds and Down on the Street and bring the memories flooding back!

PROTECTORS OF SIGHT Cataract is the developing world's leading cause of blindness. Bihar in India is one of the worst affected places in the world for cataract blindness. These images by Sophie Gerrard feature people from Bihar, some of the world’s poorest, the majority of whom live in rural isolation with no access to healthcare, education or transport. Many are needlessly blind. The Protectors of Sight are the dedicated outreach workers and advocates from an exceptional eye hospital in Bihar who seek out patients who have curable blindness and bring them for treatment.
