Ah November…. Equally loved and underappreciated by those who may not be fans of winter. But here in North America November truly can be beautiful. In the United States it is the month where the nation’s families are celebrated and come together for their Thanksgiving. Truly most Americans would agree it is a more important time to spend with family than any other holiday. Starting on a Thursday (Wednesday evening for some who cut out of work early) and not ending until arguably on Sunday at midnight, it is a 4 day event of family, sports and some really really good eating and relaxing. It is also a time of giving back and donating to local charities as a reminder of how thankful we can be to have food on the table and a family to celebrate with.

Here at FLEXAFIT we are also celebrating family and friends this time of year. We have become quite the family ourselves among our trainers, skaters and staff, getting to know each other in ways that maybe pre-COVID we wouldn’t have been able to. And now we have an extended global family of skaters and clubs that we are truly grateful for!

What’s new here you ask?

Signe is back teaching her famous Jump Technique Class for double jumps (or higher) on Wednesdays at 7:00 PM EST starting November 17th. This time it is run as a 6-week series for committed skaters at a rate of $150 CAD. Drop ins are welcome at $30 CAD. There is still time to get in at the special rate for all 6 weeks!

This month we are putting an emphasis on the importance of Flexibility.

Did you know that adding regular stretch & flexibility training into your routine can prevent injury and minimize muscle imbalances?

It can also greatly improve your skating endurance and overall performance.

A big shout out to our clubs we have working with us!

Kitchener Waterloo Skating Club (KWSC) and Leaside Skating Club are seeing our trainers in person for some serious training at their ice rinks. We are excited to be doing all the elite skater testing at KWSC. We have Gloucester Skating Club, skaters from Skate Canada Newfoundland & Labrador and Unionville SPICE synchronized skating teams working hard with our trainers virtually. And this month Signe, as a University of Toronto alumni herself, will be doing off-ice training for the U of T Varsity Skating Team.

share your thoughts and experiences I've been participating in the adult classes with Jess since the pandemic last year and we here in Australia (esp, Victoria) had enormous days of lockdown (nearly a year, total of 7-8 lockdowns). I was stressed so much about the fact that I was not able to skate as much and frustrated about the possibility to lose all my skating skills and jumps. However, Jess's classes helped me so much to be on track and I went back to skating on the last day of October and surprisingly my all skating skills have gotten better than before the lockdown. Huge thanks to Jess and Flexafit :). I will one day travel to Canada and take private lessons with your coaches.

Calling All Coaches!

FLEXAFIT Level 1 Certification Course will be running again

January 28-30 2022 Online The FLEXAFIT® Level 1 Certification provides an introductory educational course on fitness fundamentals for figure skaters.

It is the initial step for anyone who is interested in a progression-based approach to training figure skaters from the ground up.

Prospective trainers take the Level 1 course to

acquire base skills and knowledge on how to train figure skaters

in

the

fundamental

stage

using

the

FLEXAFIT®

methodology.

What’s Included in Level 1: The

instruction on the FLEXAFIT® methodology through three days of online practical and theory training.

In the theory

component, trainers will learn basic anatomy, fitness essentials for younger athletes, sport specific movement patterns, how to measure success and plan workout sessions.
