With a short delay, the Corporate Communications Department along with the Student Editorial Board brings to you the latest edition of Fortune Cookies. In this issue, the Student Editorial Board kept busy with the various events that made the campus abuzz with activity. The conclaves, seminars, quizzes, cultural fests and lots more. Read on to know more Akshita Agrawal Chief Editor- Fortune Cookies Being the student editor, it was simply wonderful to put together the current issue of Fortune Cookie with so much happening in the campus during the previous months. Grabbing pieces from every possible activity, be it placements, Cricket Sangram-the Cricket meet, Exactitude- The HR conclave or the industrial visits happening in the college in the midst of regular classes was an exciting task and it wouldn't have been possible without the constant support of the correspondents and students of FIIB. IN THE SPOTLIGHT: The Learning Student Editorial Board members and Summits organised by the Student Club on various topics like Throughout the academic year, FIIBians organised various events as a part of the student led clubs. In the last few months every club organised a day long seminar on raging issues in their domain and the students worked selflessly and tirelessly to raise the bar of performance. They coordinated with the speakers, planned an impeccable speaker line up and asked thought provoking questions. In various inter and intra college competitions, the students participated with zeal and enthusiasm to put their best foot forward and brining laurels to the institute.
The Club organised various drives like E-Waste Collection Drive, Blood Donation Camp and Clothes Collection drive at FIIB Campus. The Club also organised a day long Sustainability Summit 2013 on 21st February 2013 inviting renowned speakers to share views on Implementing Sustainability and Sustainability and Entrepreneurship Key Note Address : Ms. Anita George, Regional Industry Director- Asia Infrastructure and Natural Resources, IFC They also hosted thirty underprivileged kids on this occasion an planned a day full of fun activities, health check up scamp and delicious food for them. The kids enjoyed the day as they indulged in drawing games, magic shows and dance.

Cynergy organised a day long second edition of Innovation in HR : Gearing Towards 2020 where HR Mangers from renowned companies like NTPC, KPMG, Jones Lang Laselle and many others. Cynergy organised two conclaves this year. The club organised an Employability Summit named Exactitude. The Summit focussed on discussing various aspects of employability and demographic divide. The Summit witnessed an impressive line up with HR managers from various companies as speakers.

Curve at FIIB write about various Conclaves at FIIB. These events were organised by the students Marketing, Sustainability and Human resource.
Katastasi was a unique initiative of FIIB Research Centre (FCRC) which enabled students from FIIB and other colleges to use their Corporate Internship/Class Project experience for enhancing their employability and participate in a competition. Students were assisted with a 2 day free case writing workshop conducted by FCRC followed by a competition where they were expected to write a case study and present it to a panel of judges. Their case writing skills were then rewarded appropriately.
FIIB hosted Mr. Manoj Shrivastava, COO – APAC Region, Homestead Development Corporation as a part of the View From The Top Lecture Series on 21st April 2013 where he encouraged students to have an entrepreneurial drive in them even if they are not entrepreneurs by profession.

The Sports Committee organised a day long intra college cricket match- Cricket Sangram. FIIB Students, Staff and Faculty warmed up and battled it out on the Cricket field at IIT Grounds on 18th and 19th January 2013. They indulged in a weekend of cricket playing exciting matches against each other. After nerve-wracking and nail-biting matches, Team Fosters comprising of students from 1st year won Cricket Sangram 2013

MERAKI 2013 FIIB nurtures young entrepreneurial talent through an annual pan India B-Plan competition Meraki. This year Meraki was conducted on 15-16th March 2013 and concluded with an Entrepreneurial Summit The B-plan judging panel included Mr. Alok Mittal (Managing Director, Canaan India), Mr. Manish Kheterpal (Chairman, FIIB; Ex-Director, Providence Equity, Actis Advisors and Rho Ventures), Mr. Amit Khosla (Managing Director, AsiaBridge), Mr. Vishal Dixit (Director, Zephyr Peacock), and Mr. Maninder Gulati (Senior Associate, Lightspeed Ventures). Meraki received about 70 high-quality B-plans from institutions like the IIM’s, IIT’s, University of Delhi, JamnaLal Bajaj, IMI, BITS Pilani, IMT, among others and top 10 teams presented their plans to a panel of investors. Thereafter 3 teams were awarded FIIB Meraki Fellowships worth Rs 1,00,000, Rs 75,000 and Rs 60,000 respectively: Enerture - Great Lakes IEMR (Solving India’s power problems through commercial fuel cell and hydrogen products fed by solar power) Rainmakers - Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (financial solutions for Indian farmers through forward contracts, micro-lending and crop insurance) Cloudwhyte - IIT Kharagpur (innovative locationbased and personalized mobile apps for mall retailers and shoppers)
The Entrepreneurship Summit witnessed an exciting line up of speakers who enticed the intellect of the audience with their rich experiences. The Summit comprised of 2 panels that were especially put together for budding and young entrepreneurs where leading venture capitalists and entrepreneurs shared their views. The first panel discussed Emerging Trends in Entrepreneurship in India. Speakers included Mr. Anshoo Sharma (Principal, Lightspeed Venture Partners), Mr. Anish Pasari (Associate, Lumis Partners) with Mr. Ishan Gupta (CEO, Edukart) as the moderator. The next panel discussion was on the Challenges faced by Young Entrepreneurial Ventures in India. The panel included Mr. Sourabh Deshpande (Consultant, YourStory), Mr. Ankit Mathur (Co-founder, Green Grameen Infra), Mr. Ambarish Gupta (CEO & Founder, Knowlarity), Mr. Ishan Gupta (CEO & Founder, Edukart) with Mr. Manish Kheterpal as the moderator. “The feedback provided by the investors on my business plan, and ideas shared in the panels were highly enriching for a young entrepreneur like me” - Mr. Rohin Kumar (CEO & Co-founder of MyTi, final year student at BITS Pilani), one of the top 10 teams presenting at Meraki

Passing the Light: An FIIB Tradition At FIIB, Leadership is not just about playing the role to perfection, but about creating a legacy and leaders that can follow and carry the torch forward. Also, each year the student life experience changes as new students bring with them their ideas and while change is inevitable, there are some events that have stood the test of time and change, in a culture that values Innovation. These events have thus earned the status of FIIB Traditions. One such FIIB Tradition is the Passing of Light on Farewell, when the new Leaders for the Student Clubs at FIIB are elected and inducted. Industry Visit to Parle FIIbians visited the Parle manufacturing Plant on 2nd Feb 2013. They were acquainted about Parle manufacturing unit by an employee, who was responsible for training and development there. She introduced them to the various manufacturing units at Parle and gave a brief description of the company. It was a knowledge enriching session. They also had a chance to see the manufacturing process there. They then saw a movie titled ZAPPO which was about the procedure of manufacturing different products at Parle. “We were greeted warmly by the staff at Parle, followed by a query session and half an hour video clip about the company’s brand success. The visit to Parle definitely added value to my knowledge making it a memorable day for me-” Ravi Kumar

FIIB Faculty, Staff and students are excited to welcome the 19th Batch (FIIB Class of 2015) to an experience of two years where they will learn lessons of Management and Life that would be an asset to them forever.
