Financial Innovation in Indian Banking Sector About the Conclave Financial Innovation has been a continuous and integral part of growth of financial markets including banks. Financial Innovation in a globalized world is a broad concept which covers the issues both at macro level and micro level. The Indian banking sector is now accessing technology in a very big way in order to offer new services to its clients including the poorest segments of the population. India is on board towards robust growth to achieve the position of being one of the leading economies of the world. The new government at the centre is focused on making India a globally attractive destination for foreign investment, while not losing focus on improving the financial services being offered to the poorest segments of the population. With a view to understand Financial Innovation in a globalized world, especially with a focus on the Indian banking industry, FIIB is conducting a Finance Conclave on 12th December, 2015 at its campus at Plot No.5, Rao Tula Ram Marg, Opp. R.R. Hospital, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi-110057.

Key Takeaways For Students: The conclave would help students in enhancing their knowledge about the banking sector. It would provide them an opportunity to know about recent changes in the banking industry and some of the issues and challenges faced by it. For Corporates: It would provide them an opportunity to share their valuable insights with the students who are going to become future managers. Besides, it would also be used as a platform to network with other professional in the same industry. For Faculty: It would be used as a platform to learn recent practices from industry and also to seek collaborations from industry in terms of consulting, MDPs or case writing. FIIB FINANCE CONCLAVE 12th December 2015 Speakers:

Mr. Biswa Ketan Das, General Manager, SBI Keynote Speaker Shri Biswa Ketan Das, joined State Bank Of India as a Probationary officer in 1987. He is a post graduate in chemistry. He is a certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers. He has completed his Master in Business Administration with marketing as the major. During a career spanning 27 years in State Bank Of India he has held many crucial assignments. A few of them are as follows:1. Chief Manager human resources 2. Assistant General Manager Govt.Treasury branch Bhubaneswar. 3. Assistant General Manager (Administration) Bhubaneshwar AO 4. Regional Manager, Regional Business Office, Cuttack. 5. Deputy General Manager and Head PMS, Global Markets, Mumbai. 6. General Manager, Network-II- Delhi. In his previous assignment as Deputy General Manager and Head of Portfolio Management Service, Shri Das was responsible for managing the retirement benefit funds of EPFO, CMPFO,KV Sangathan, SPFO, SBI etc. Under his leadership, the AUM of the fund increased to more than Rs. 3 lakh crores to become the largest fund in India. As the Fund Manager for EPFO, SBI PMS, has been declared as the best Fund Manager by CRISIL. In the present assignment as the General Manager (NW-II), Shri Das is responsible for the functioning of more than 700 offices operating in Western UP and Uttarakhand. Shri Das is also the convener of State Level Bankers Committee for the State of Uttarakhand and is playing a vital role in regard to the overall penetration of banking services in the state.


FIIB FINANCE CONCLAVE 12th December 2015 Panel Speakers: Dr. P. Satish Executive Director, Sa-Dhan Dr. P. Satish, Executive Director of Sa-Dhan, is a gold medallist in Economics from Osmania University, Hyderabad and has an MBA (Finance) from the same university. He completed his Ph. D in Economics from Punjab University, Chandigarh in the area of Agricultural Credit Markets in Punjab. Before joining Sa-Dhan, he was the Chief General Manager heading the Micro Credit Innovations Department of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD). Prior to this he headed its Maharashtra Regional Office at Pune where many pioneering initiatives were undertaken by him including the Climate Change Adaptation Project, Agri-Advisory Project in tieup with RML, Vidarbha model of Financial Inclusion with BC/BF to name a few. He also headed the Finance Department of NABARD at its Head Office and had worked in the area of rural infrastructure financing.

Mr. Vimal Ojha Sr. Vice President and Head- North India , Karvy Private Wealth Mr. Vimal is a consumer business professional with over 14 years of leadership experience spanned across financial services, retail banking, portfolio management and Private Banking/Wealth Management. He is currently working at Karvy Private Wealth in the capacity of Sr.Vice President and Head (Wealth Management and Private Banking) – North India. Prior to joining Karvy he worked with organizations like ICICI Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, ICICI Lombard GIC and GE Capital. He is an Economics graduate from Lucknow University and has done his MBA from MDI, Gurgaon. He is passionate about Traveling, cycling, reading and watching movies.

Mr. Hemant Seigell Director, Riskpro Indian Ventures (P) Ltd. Mr. Hemant is a Commerce graduate,MBA (Finance), NSE-NCFM, PDFM (F&A-Merit Holder), Certified I.A ISO:9001-2000,PMPÂŽ,CSSGB,AML/KYC,GARP-FBR. He is currently associated as Director with Riskpro Indian Ventures (P) Ltd. He has 16+ years of professional experience into diverse Consumer finance/ Lending /Operations/Risk Mgmt across Retail Forex, BPMS, Consumer Banking, NBFC, Management Consulting, Housing Finance companies in BFSI domain having successfully managed multi-product environment /Strategic business critical launch projects across varied functional areas & worked in Asia, Australia & US geographies.


FIIB FINANCE CONCLAVE 12th December 2015 Mr. Mithilesh Kumar Assistant General Manager, Allahabad Bank Mr. Mithilesh Kumar is Assistant General Manager, Allahabad Bank. He has dynamic work experience of over 15 years at varied levels as Economist of the Bank, Chief Manager (Economist), Assistant General Manager, Senior Manager (Economist), etc. He is qualified in MBF (Management of Banking and Finance) from National Institute of Bank Management, Pune, the only institute managed by RBI for Banking Excellence in Indian Banking System. He is Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers. He also has a Diploma in Advanced Wealth Management. He is a gold medallist in M.A.Economics. Apart from excellent educational background, he has also participated & won prizes in Quiz, Debate, Dramas. He has written many articles on topic of Banking in BECON Papers and in RBI occasional papers. Participated in many National Level Seminars on Finance/ Economics.

Prof. Abjijit Roy Professor, FIIB Prof. Abjijit Roy is Sr. Professor at FIIB. Before taking to academics, he was associated with State Bank of India for 21 years in various capacities. His positions included Assistant General Manager (Corporate Banking), Chief Manager (International Banking) and Project Officer (Merchant Banking). He gathered work experience relating to project finance, corporate finance, capital market instruments, international banking and branch banking. Later with Zurich Financial Services, as the Advisor, he supported in insurance and asset management to formulate an entry strategy for India, including advising them on the economic environment, identifying Indian joint venture partners and developing detailed business plans in areas like life and non-life business, risk management and asset management. During the same time, he was the Advisor to Banco di Napoli too.
