FILA, Fabbrica Italiana Lucidi ed Affini, was founded in 1943 by twins Guido and Pietro Pettenon with a clear vision in mind: to produce shoe polish, household waxes and cleaners. As WWII raged, Europe’s desire for change and growth provided the fertile ground the company needed to become Italy’s benchmark in the production of high-quality shoe polish. FILA products were even chosen by the Italian army. The seventies marked a turning point for FILA due to the intuition of Beniamino, our current president, and the support from his sister Adriana: the company took the leap from household cleaning products to professional products for surface protection. FILA’s tradition in research started with terracotta, leading the way to the research of all materials for floor and wall coverings. During this decade, FILA also released its first advertising campaign in collaboration with Sannini terracotta floor manufacturers.

has achieved international excellence in Today FILA the protection and care of all surfaces. Today FILA represents a family-owned company with a managerial structure; a large international group with big values. Every day, we set out to find the best answer to the needs of every client, striving to deliver the best solutions while staying ahead of market evolutions.

Professional cleaning followed by protective treatments is critical in maintaining the health and hygiene of home surfaces.

FILA products are certified by international institutes. Such certifications include:

• Food contact certification • Frost resistance certification • Stain resistance certification • Abrasion, detachment, traction, UV ageing and slip resistance certifications • Anti-fouling certification • LEED® certification: Green Building Rating System

• GEV EMICODE certification for products with very low VOC emissions

As a result of these strategies which contribute to environmental sustainability, we’ve been a member of the GREEN BUILDING COUNCIL ITALIA since 2009, a non-profit organization which supports the spread of the LEED® certification, an international rating system for the development of ecosustainable buildings.

In order to reach this objective, maintaining the highest product quality standards, along with company processes and systems, is key.

More than 10 products of the FILA GREEN LINE with extremely low VOC emissions contribute towards LEED® certification and qualify as “low-emitting paints and coatings” (EQ 4.2 and EQ 4.1 credits), with the objective of reducing contaminating elements in indoor air and increasing indoor air quality.

In 2014 we also received the ISO 14001 environmental certification, yet another milestone which is a testament to our concrete commitment to environmental sustainability. This non-mandatory certification attests the environmental management systems of the company.

Additionally, some sealers are EMICODE EC1 PLUS certified, the premium EMICODE certification class which identifies products with the lowest VOC emissions: products which do not release harmful substances in closed environments, and which guarantee the best health and environmental norms.

That’s why we’ve been certified according to UNI EN ISO 9001 quality management regulations since 1999, proof that our management models are aimed at improving company performance, competitiveness and success.

Today, ISO 14001 certification is considered the international benchmark for all companies enagaged in the preservation of the environment by developing management and organizational systems sensitive to “green” policies.

Water and oil repellents, in fact, drastically reduce the absorption of water, humidity and staining agents in floors, wall coverings and grout joints, making the cleaning process considerably easier while providing hygienic and aesthetic results. filasolutions.com

FILA High biodegradability:

the entire FILA cleaner range contains eco-friendly surfactants, in full compliance of 48:2004 regulations regarding biodegradability. This means that 99% of the product becomes biodegradable in 28 days.

FILA Green Action is our extensive ecological project in which the company concretely demonstrates its moral and legislative commitment towards environmental respect and protection. It includes a series of “green actions” that involve all company divisions: from product use to product disposal.

For us, respect for the environment is a tangible value that involves all company divisions.

Packaging:

Products without solvents that damage the ozone layer.

High concentration: products with higher coverage rates, hence reducing waste and packaging.

Products free of formaldehyde as well as toxic and cancerous substances often present in chemical cleaners and sealers.

changing spray bottle packaging alone has reduced our plastic use by 7.5 million tons – that’s like eliminating 285,000 litres plastic bottles from planet Earth.

Reduction in the use of phthalates as plasticizers, which cause reproductive problems in humans and animals.

Water recycling FILA follows strict protocols for the treatment of rainwater, dictated by the regional plan for water harvesting. Technically, the first 5 mm of rainwater are collected in large tanks, where it settles and is then released into the local sewage system upon approval from local authorities. The following millimetres of rainwater, after the separation process, are released into underground absorbing wells.
