ABOUT MY DEDICATION TO LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE STEMS FROM MY PASSION FOR DRAWING. AS A CHILD I WOULD IMMERSE MYSELF IN SKETCHES AND DOODLES, THESE AIMLESS ILLUSTRATIONS BECAME THE FOUNDATION FOR MY INTEREST IN LANDSCAPE DESIGN. I AM CAPTIVATED BY THE NOTION THAT THE STROKE OF MY PEN COULD SOMEDAY HAVE A REAL IMPACT ON THE PHYSICAL WORLD AROUND ME. SLAB CABIN GREENWAY Restoration and preservation are at the forefront of the SLAB CABIN GREENWAY initiative. With the goal of preserving the natural waterway from harmful agricultural run off, this project incorporated the use of riparian buffers, wetlands, and agro forestry areas. In addition to protecting this impaired stream, a pedestrian trail connects the nearby residents to their local landscape and provides opportunities for education and awareness regarding stream water quality. Clemens August-Platz The final design of Clemens August-Platz is a synthesis of three early concepts, each tackling a particular issue and reaching a certain goal. The focus of the new design is to mitigate the urban heat island effect, manage flooding and facilitate community engagement. By reducing the amount of pavement and incorporating additional green space the goals of the site are met to fit the community. The site can see significant improvement in noise reduction thanks to well organized planting. Water capacity is increased across the site to help with excessive rain events. Lastly, amenities are added for human use to allow more opportunities for play and exploration. Tools used: Hand Sketching, SketchUp, Photoshop

Heinz Memorial Park Located in the heart of Sharpsburg, PA lies the Heinz Memorial Park, dog park and the rail spur trail. The park’s intent is to be a singular welcoming experience for all with a focus on giving different age groups their own space. This concept maximizes the park’s area while allowing for a multitude of activities for the residents and visitors. The rectilinear layout mirrors that of the surrounding streetscape while also introducing aspects of modernity into the final design. As part of the integrated community plan, a nearby dog park gives residents an open and secure place for outdoor activities with their pets. It is connected to the main park via the trail which is built along an existing abandoned train track. Visitors can move between each space with ease and comfort as they explore the park and its different amenities. Tools used: AutoCAD, SketchUp, Lumion

RESIDENTIAL DESIGN The elderly clients sought to increase their property value by adding landscape features in the backyard such as an in-ground pool, outdoor fireplace and planting beds for two diverse gardens.
