A much-loved Egyptian dessert, it is a delicious bread pudding treat of milk, cream, and nuts. It also has an interesting story behind its creation. It is said that Umm Ali was a rival of the ruler Ezz El-Din Aybek’s wife, Shagaret El Dorr. Upon the death of her husband, Shagaret El Dorr ordered Umm Ali’s death and to celebrate the death, she ordered her cooks to create the most delicious dessert and distributed it across Egypt. It has been quite a popular dish since then!

Baklava

Easily one of the most popular desserts of them all, this Turkish delight is said to have developed during the Ottoman Empire. However, the Baklava can also be found in Greece, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia too. The crunchy pastry is made of several layers of phyllo, chopped nuts and drizzled with sweet syrup or honey.
