HIP-HOP ARTISTE KING IN CONVERSATION WITH AAKANKSHA NAVAL-SHETYE ABOUT GOING INTERNATIONAL AND HIS BIGGEST TAKEAWAY!

Making an impressive debut on the hip-hop reality show MTV Hustle in 2019, it was in 2020 that hip-hop artiste and singer-song writer KING first hit jackpot with his chartbuster Indie track ‘Tu Aake Dekhle’ and there has been no looking back for the singer since. Post the super-success of his ‘Maan Meri Jaan’ on the domestic front, he has in fact gone global this year with international artiste and pop star Nick Jonas recreating the hit track as ‘Afterlife’. We caught up with Arpan Chandel aka KING in Abu Dhabi where he was set to perform at the renowned international urban music festival Wireless alongside some of the world’s biggest stars across hip-hop, rap, R&B, including Travis Scott, Lil Uzi Vert, Wegz, Black Sherif, Ali Gatie, and M.I.A. amongst others. Ahead of the performance, KING admits that he’s more excited than nervous and says, “Besides, being my first experience at Wireless, it’s also my first performance in Abu Dhabi. So, yes I’m really excited. Everything is so fresh and so beautiful. So yeah, I’m less nervous and more excited for sure.”

The singer, who has come a long way since being an aspiring artiste in Delhi, insists that there’s not been a specific gamechanger for him as all songs are equally special for him, but there’s no denying that the two songs that shot him to instant fame and then won him the spotlight are ‘Maan Meri Jaan’ and ‘Tu Aake
