HIP HOP DUO YOUNG STUNNERS – TALHA ANJUM AND TALHAH YUNUS - TALK TO AAKANKSHA NAVAL-SHETYE ABOUT BEING THE FIRST PAKISTANI ARTISTES TO PERFORM AT THE WIRELESS MUSIC FESTIVAL IN ABU DHABI

It’s easy to mistake the rapper-duo Young Stunners – Talha Anjum and Talhah Yunus –as brothers! Besides, the similarity in names, the duo share their birth month and year. However they share that they have in fact been the best of friends since the two were 16 years old. Sharing a common passion for music, the two formed a band in 2012 and have since come a long way with hits like ‘Burger-EKarachi’, ‘Groove Mera’, ‘Afsanay’, amongst many other chartbusters. What’s more, the two are credited for bringing in Urdu rap and integrating it in the mainstream musoc scene of Pakistan. We caught up with them in Abu Dhabi where they are set to perform at the renowned international urban music festival Wireless alongside some of the world’s biggest stars across hip-hop, rap, R&B, including Travis Scott, Lil Uzi Vert, Wegz, Black Sherif, Ali Gatie, and M.I.A. amongst others. The two artistes reveal their inspirations and also about talk about handling all the female adulation. Excerpts from our candid chat

This is your rst performance here, how excited are you? Very excited. We’re actually the first Pakistani artistes to be performing at this music festival. So yes! That’s big. It’s really like a dream for us.

Who do you look up to as your inspirations?

There are so many artistes. So many singers, not just in the rap, there’s so much music coming out from Pakistan for all these years so, we’ve just been fans of Pakistani music. We’ve listened to a lot of that, all our life. But these guys, Travis, 50 Cent, even King, Divine - Bhai hain hamaare (laughs).

So any Bollywood collaborations or any collaborations with King, Divine on the cards?

Yes, there’s something coming up. We don’t want to reveal it right now and wait for it. But it’s something very interesting and we can’t wait to share soon.

So are you looking at something which is more album driven or some collaboration?

At this time, we are actually looking into something of a collaboration, but at the same time, we’re also doing a lot of
