weddings elegantly photographed on ďŹ lm
hello I
’m Craig, a photographer who captures beautiful weddings, mostly shooting traditional film. I’ve named it ‘filmography’ It’s like normal photography, only a bit better! My love affair with film started some 20 years ago when I was photographing weddings alongside my father. Today, I photo-
graph weddings using natural light on gorgeous medium format film creating pictures that are luminous, glowing and naturally flattering. I love photographing weddings and firmly believe that you should find the experience every bit as enjoyable as I do. I don’t just photograph one
genre, but shoot a good mix of editorial, fashion and traditional bridal portraiture. I am based in Perth and photograph weddings throughout Scotland, the UK and beyond. I love a good wedding and look forward to hearing all about yours!
pre-wed shoot A
pre-wedding or engagement portrait session is a great way to for us to get to know one and other prior to photographing you on your wedding day. It really helps in making you more comfortable in front of the camera and we make some really great photographs that captures your love for each other.
Sessions are pretty relaxed and typically takes between one to two hours. We shoot at a location of your choosing; this could be your wedding venue, at home, a favourite spot or near your workplace. It’s entirely up to you. The photographs can be used in a number of ways; a guest book or signing print for your guests to
sign at your wedding, framed prints for your parents or just decorate your walls with! You can share your pictures with family and friends using your very own mobile App which contains a selection of images from the shoot. The App is compatible with most mobile devices and is a great way to show o your photos!
weddings I
consider it a real honour to photograph your wedding day. It is afterall a pretty big day for you both! My approach to wedding photography is to keep things simple and create as little fuss as possible. Therefore I choose to shoot alone, there’s no second photographer lurking around, only me. On larger weddings I
may bring an assistant but they don’t shoot. I much prefer to work this way and you receive a much more consistant set of photographs. I tend to shoot with one camera, be it film or digital and wherever possible use natural daylight. It’s a recipe that works for me and delivers the type of images that both me and my brides love.
You can expect to receive a good mix of of editorial, fashion and traditional bridal portraiture from your wedding day along with family and guest groups you’d like captured.

Why do you photograph weddings on film?
So digital’s no good for shooting weddings then?
Film is quite simply the most perfect medium for photographing weddings. Film images are much more luminous by nature and your photographs are suffused with the most beautiful colour palette. Images are naturally more flattering than digital files making it perfect for capturing skin tones and making you look gorgeous!
Not at all! Digital capture is perfectly good and I will grab a digital camera at some point during your wedding when the conditions dictate. I much prefer the look and feel of film photographs though and so do my brides! It’s like shooting circles instead of squares but digital cameras have their time and place too.
Do you take every photograph on film?
When will our photographs be ready to view?
If you’ve chosen a package of film photography then I expect to photograph around 90% of your wedding day on beautiful medium format film. When the available light isn’t so good or conditions dictate then I will shoot digitally.
Your films are couriered to my lab the next working day following your wedding. They typically take 2 to 3 weeks to work their magic. I aim to have your online proofing gallery available within 4 weeks from your wedding date.
Do you recommend a prewedding portrait session? A pre-wedding shoot is without doubt the best way for me to get to know you and it creates confidence in front of the camera that carries through to your wedding day photographs. We have a great time, you get a lovely set of images and a great mobile app to show them off to your family and friends!
Do you photograph destination weddings? I love destination weddings! I photograph weddings throughout Scotland and the UK but for weddings more than 150 mile round trip I will advise of any travelling and / or accommodation costs. For destination weddings I make my own arrangements and will advise you of the likely costs at time of your initial enquiry.
Can you provide a bespoke package of photography? I can provide you with (almost) anything you like. Please let me know your requirements and I’ll happily assist.
Are you an ‘award winning’ photographer? I personally don’t care much for photography awards. I like to think that I take wedding photographs for bridal couples, not judging panels.
How do we book you? It would be lovely to meet you prior to booking to hear all about your wedding plans and to get to know you both. However, if that isn’t possible then it’s no problem. To secure your date I require a £500 booking fee with the balance payable one month before your wedding date.
