EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY (SUMMER 2013) The Saskatchewan Filmpool Cooperative is seeking to hire a student to fill the position of Production Teaching Assistant. The duration of the position is 11 weeks commencing May 29, 2013 and ending August 13, 2013. The Saskatchewan Filmpool Cooperative is a non-profit artist-run centre, which supports, encourages and assists independent filmmaking in Saskatchewan. The Filmpool is committed to developing an awareness and appreciation of independent film, which reflects the individual and collective expression of Saskatchewan people.
Responsibilities: • • • • • •
To facilitate the designing, planning and execution of the Filmpool’s week long summer camp for youth ages 13 to 17 years. To assist with the instruction of the filmmaking process, including the technical, aesthetic and language of filmmaking. To facilitate camp administration including registration, advertising and promotion and other office administration duties. To assist with designing course curriculum To assist in the formulation of the camp’s rules and regulations To perform other Filmpool staff duties including maintenance and access of Filmpool equipment, responding to membership needs and other office employee responsibilities.
Qualifications • • • • • • • •
Completion of at least first year film production at a recognized post secondary institution An understanding of the overall filmmaking process, including areas of pre-production, production and post-production Understanding of camera, tripod, lighting and sound recording Familiarization with all types of filmmaking including narrative, documentary and experimental. An understanding of post production computerized editing (knowledge of Final Cut Pro would be an asset) Excellent organization skills with the ability to multi-task Strong interpersonal skills and the desire to work with people Able to communicate effectively with youth (ages 13 – 17)
