Advantages and disadvantages wind energy

Advantages and disadvantagesof wind energy Advantages : -

Wind energy is a renewable energy: it requires no fuel, it does not create greenhouse gas emissions, nor toxic nor radioactive waste.

-

It does not degrade the quality of air, does not pollute water (no release into the aquatic environment, no thermal pollution), does not pollute the soil (no soot, no ash).

-

The wind power production follows our energy consumption: the wind blows more often in winter, the season when electricity needing is the highest.

-

The wind power ensures security of supply deal with the variability of oil prices.

-

Wind energy can reduce electricity bills and can put away the power cuts.

-

Other industrial and agricultural activities can continue around a wind farm.

-

When the large wind farms are installed on farmland, the remaining area is available for farming, livestock, and other uses.

-

On the ocean, the space is huge and the wind is constant so it is a good place to put wind turbines.

-

The area occupied by the wind surface is small.

Disadvantages: -

Wind turbines spoil the landscape : they are not attractive.

-

Wind turbines can be noisy when you live nearby.

-

Wind energy is dependent on the weather and the environment.

-

The wind is an irregular source, so energy production is variable.

-

Wind electricity is an occasional energy, it is not sufficient to define the energy and environmental policy.

-

The elements which compose a wind turbine are not renewable/recycled/organic.
