Shingles are skin conditions that are caused by the same virus that causes Chicken Pox, known as varicella-zoster virus. It is a contagious viral infection that causes the occurrence of painful blisters around the patient’s torso or the waist region. Shingles generally occurs in case of adults who have had chicken pox earlier in their life. The chicken pox causing virus remains dormant in the system, generally in the spinal nerves and activates after a long gap of time.
