This journal is ideal to record – and later on remember fondly – your journey, featuring duplicate sellos, your impressions on the way, your drawings, your photographs and other mementos from the Camino. Open your heart! Feel the spirit of those whose feet shaped the paths you walk, experience the communitas of fellow pilgrims, and welcome the life force of new cultures. What is your experience of leaving home, of being a wanderer in another’s land, of sharing the Way with others, of risking all that you are for something that you are yet to become? What is that something greater in you that these pages can illuminate? May you delight in describing your days, discovering new perspectives, and ďŹ nding a resting place for your pilgrim soul. As a special bonus, each day features an inspirational quote to enjoy at the end of a long day walking with fellow pilgrims. Buen Camino to you! Creator: Susan L. Thompson

MY JOURNAL FOR THE CAMINO DE SANTIAGO

For my Camino family gathered along the Way – Valerie, Andy, Paul, Juan, Josh, Dr. John, Little Sue, Jim, Lynn, Sue, Karen, Annette, Savannah, Alex and Michelle – and to Kathryn, Robin, and Diane, Camino and writing soulmates – my gratitude and love to you all.

How to use this journal Two facing pages have been set aside in this journal for each day you are on the Camino. At the top of the left-hand page of each day, space is provided for the location from which you journeyed, and the location where you ended your day. The boxed areas on the rest of the left-hand page and on the righthand page are designed for you to write about your day’s experience – your memories, dreams and awakenings along the way. You can also use that space to place drawing(s), photograph(s) and/or a duplicate stamp or sello. A sello is an inked image that proprietors of albergues, hostals, bars, and restaurants stamp inside your formal pilgrim’s credential to record your progress on the Camino. When you reach the Pilgrim Office in Santiago, your credential with its many sellos serves as final evidence of the length of your walk. This journal does not replace the credential. But it does provide uncrowded space for you to collect duplicate sellos each day, as sellos on credentials often overlap, compromising the integrity of the sellos’ art. As a special bonus, each day features an inspirational quote to enjoy at the end of a long day walking with fellow pilgrims.

A magic dwells in each beginning, protecting us, telling us how to live. —Hermann Hesse

Day 2

From:____________________________ To:____________________________

Above all, do not lose your desire to walk. Everyday, I walk myself into a state of well-being and walk away from every illness. I have walked myself into my best thoughts, and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it. But by sitting still, and the more one sits still, the closer one comes to feeling ill. Thus if one just keeps on walking, everything will be all right. —Søren Kierkegaard

Day 42

From:____________________________ To:____________________________

We shall not cease from exploration And the end of all our exploring Will be to arrive where we started And know the place for the first time. —T.S. Eliot
