Blue Cross Animals Society of Victoria is an animal shelter with a vision of a future where all animals are safe, respected, loved and protected. Since opening our doors in Wonga Park in 1966, we have saved thousands of lives and continue to go above and beyond to provide shelter, treatment and loving forever homes for cats and dogs in our care.

At Blue Cross, we try our best to make each animal’s shelter experience as enriching as possible, but sometimes we need a bit of extra support.

As a not-for-profit organization, we receive no government funding. The work we do relies solely on the generosity of our dedicated community lending their support to our programs that are designed to help us make the shelter a better place for all animals.

It’s not unusual for some animals to be in our care for up to a year – and sometimes more! By becoming a ‘Guardian Angel’, you are allowing us to continue providing a safe and warm space for the animals who get overlooked due to being older or needing some extra medical care and you also help us to continue saving the lives of abandoned and unwanted dogs and cats, providing year-round care, ensuring they are safe, their bellies are kept full & their lives are enriched until forever homes are found.

What We Do

We, rehabilitate and rehome animals that come into our care giving them a second chance at a new life. Our committed team rehome dogs, cats, kittens and puppies whose futures would be bleak without our care and support. We care for hundreds of animals every year. As a charity we rely on the kindness and generosity of our donors and supporters.

The more you support us, the better care we can take of animals and give them every chance of a new life in a loving home. We tailor our service enabling us to better connect animals with the right person or family for them.
