An individual, modern, detached, five bedroomed home with two en suites, set over three floors stands in a quiet spot in a residential area not far from Peterborough city centre where fast trains to London take 45 minutes, and quick links to the A1. The light, airy and spacious house is designed for modern living with a superb master suite on the second floor, fitted with quality materials and benefits a sunny rear garden. With a choice of good primary and secondary schools close by, and the independent Peterborough School on the doorstep, this is a prime location for a family, especially if needing to commute. The owners bought the house five years ago as the first occupants, and have been thrilled with every aspect of the property. “If we could pick the house up and take it with us then we would!” they declare. “The master suite is a dream – it is so bright and so spacious with the walk-in dressing area with its built-in mirrored wardrobes, and the contemporary bathroom has twin basins, a large walk-in shower from either side as well as the free-standing bath.”

Downstairs, oak floorboards stretch seamlessly from room to room complemented by modern oak internal doors, architrave and skirtings which continue upstairs. Windows are low maintenance, doubleglazed uPvc making it ‘a very warm house’, attest the owners. An entrance hall with a downstairs WC leads into an expansive kitchen dining room at the back where bi-folding doors open onto a terrace and the garden, whilst an almost 22 foot long sitting room with a big window to the front is reached through double doors. The kitchen is fitted with an abundance of slick, modern units topped with quartz and an island that incorporates a breakfast bar. Integrated appliances include an eye-level oven, an induction hob, extractor over, a dishwasher, a fridge with freezer below whilst the adjacent utility room, also fitted with units, has an integrated washing machine and tumble dryer and benefits a second sink.

The first floor accommodates four double bedrooms, one enjoying an en suite

of the house, another in front of the garage, and a public area with further parking

shower with WC and washbasin, one currently used as a home office, and the family

with permits for residents, is nearby. “The neighbours are really nice and friendly

bathroom. The adjoining single garage with its up-and-over door has made an ideal

and have allowed us to park on their drive if we’ve needed to overspill for a party,

gym for the owners. There is a good deal of parking: 3 cars can fit down the side

for instance,” say the owners.

The garden at the back is south and west facing and totally enclosed by fencing with a backdrop of mature trees beside the long drive to the local independent school, formerly Peterborough High School, which makes it a very tranquil area to live yet close to road and rail links and plenty of shops. Predominantly lawn, a paved terrace stretches along the back of the house whilst a raised decked area – made from composite decking so durable and low maintenance - provides a place to really soak up the sun. “It is so convenient,” they say, “there’s a Co-op a 2 – 3 minute walk on the Thorpe road, and it’s a 10 -15 minute walk to the station so if you work close to King’s Cross you can be there, door to door, in only an hour. And the centre of town, with all its shops, is about a 15 minute walk. The independent school is excellent, it’s co-educational from Nursery level through to Sixth form.” Two state primary schools in the vicinity are the recently opened West Town Primary Academy and Longthorpe Primary School, both rated Good by Ofsted. Jack Hunt School is another mixed secondary school rated Good, and the Cathedral School, King’s, is rated Outstanding.
