It’s the most wonderful time of the year
Welcome to the latest edition of Refined. The Christmas and New Year season is upon us, giving us the opportunity to pause and reflect, to see loved ones and to indulge in a festive treat or two. We will all enjoy being at home for a well-earned rest – but you may also start looking at your house and wondering whether it’s big enough to hold all your relatives for another Christmas dinner. So if you’re starting to consider moving to a new house in the New Year and think this may be the last Christmas holiday you spend in your current property, then why not take a look at the range of homes we have on offer throughout this issue of Refined. Our network has over 200 offices in locations throughout England and Wales – so no matter whether you’re downsizing to a cosy cottage, looking for a country retreat or upsizing to accommodate your growing family, we’d be delighted to offer you the gift of a new home this Christmas. We also have a number of easy-reading Christmas articles over on the Fine & Country blog – including ‘Homes Near the UK’s Best Christmas Markets’ and our ‘Top Interior Design Tips to Decorate Your Home for Christmas’. Alternatively, if you’re thinking of escaping to the beach for Christmas then take a look at our article on ‘Coastal Gems from Around the World’. Wishing you and yours a Very Merry Christmas, from all of us here at Fine & Country. EDITOR’S LETTER REFINED MAGAZINE

A strategy for success “It is a case of presenting and promoting your property as if it were our own.” At Fine & Country we understand moving home is one of the most important decisions you can make; your home is both a financial and emotional investment. We take the instruction to sell your home as a privilege, an honour and as a very serious commitment to you. Through excellent marketing, we deliver an efficient sales process and a courteous, careful service. People buy as much into the lifestyle of the property as they do the bricks and mortar. Exclusive properties require a bespoke and imaginative promotional approach. Recognising this, we have designed a unique and successful marketing strategy, enhancing the lifestyle of the property. The widespread exposure of your property is also crucial. In today’s market not only is the mobility of buyers greater than ever, but also the ways in which they may access information.
Instruct us and you could benefit from our knowledge, experience, expertise and contacts and our well trained, educated and courteous staff. You are assisted, advised and informed through each stage of the whole transaction. Every Fine & Country property consultant is a member of either The Property Ombudsman or the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Quite rightly the house has been listed Grade II as a building of historical importance and illustrates an extraordinary amount of period detail, including ceiling timbers, elm floors and cottage-style windows. CAROLS BY CANDLELIGHT WITH KING’S VOICES AT KING’S COLLEGE CAMBRIDGE
F&C REFINED Issue 107 Foundation pages_TS_V3.indd 124

Hark! The herald angels sing! On Sunday 8th December 2019, The Fine & Country Foundation once again hosted its annual Carols By Candlelight at the iconic King’s College Chapel in the heart of Cambridge. The magnificent scale, acoustics and beauty of the chapel make it an idyllic setting, with all proceeds raised from the concert shared between four local homeless charities: Emmaus, Wintercomfort, Jimmy’s Cambridge and Cyrenians. The College’s mixed choir, King’s Voices, both performed a selection of songs and led the carols for a congregation of over 600 attendees. The sound of the voices swelling within the chapel was both riveting and moving. The service was also interspersed with bible readings and a short speech from Dean Reverend Dr Stephen Cherry, of Cambridge University. Last year, all 500 tickets available sold out, so this year Fine & Country worked with King’s College to increase the seating capacity to 700, meaning we could welcome more guests and, most importantly, raise even more money for these brilliant causes. VIP guests were seated at the front and went on to enjoy an invitation for mulled wine and mince pies in the Provost’s Lodge following the concert.
For more information about the Carol Concert and the work of The Fine & Country Foundation, please contact us at foundation@fineandcountry.com or call us on +44(0)20 3368 8221.

Fine & Country CEO, David Lindley, said: “Not only does the event do so much good for those who are less fortunate than us, especially pertinent at this time of year, the event itself is a wonderful way to get into the Christmas spirit! Thank you to the King’s Voices, King’s College, and the Fine & Country team for a fantastic evening.”
