The Powder Room The powder room, modest in size, has a dual-flush toilet—a water-saving feature which can reduce one’s water bill. Wallmounted as a space saver, the toilet’s placement achieves the feeling of a bigger room. With the winning combination of a seamless antiqued mirror mosaic tile and an integrated mirror wall, wall mounted dual-flush toilet and the warm glow of concealed undermount cabinet LED lighting, the room feels twice its size. Kitchen This kitchen is designed to look good in the open-plan living area. More importantly, it is designed to function well. Here is an example of a beautiful ecokitchen using Eco by Cosentini, the product that I selected to add a sparkle to the space, especially to the island peninsula. Every detail is designed to look built-in for a sleek clean look, including a unique oversized stainless steel sink. Notice the countertop detail as it meets the inside corner. natural concrete floors and LED lighting make this kitchen super-efficient. Ample storage in the full height storage wall allows for an open feel with room for original wall art, so it blends in with other living lounge spaces. The custom cabinetry facing is made of a durable textured laminate, which has the look and feel of real wood, yet is extremely durable and low maintenance. Second Level The second level holds the bedrooms and office spaces, utilizing the same folding glass doors as downstairs to maximize access to ample spaces outside for rest, relaxation or work. These door systems have the added benefit of providing natural day lighting and natural ventilation, both of which are imperative

to healthy living and indoor air quality. Wide wood plank oak窶認SC-certified to come from well-managed forests is monitored by a third party no-profit certification group to help prevent wide deforestation. It is distressed and white stained. Coupled with ample daylight, this gives the rooms a light and airy feel. The living room and bedrooms, with the beachy open-beam ceiling throughout the house, feature energy smart gas fireplaces, which act as an efficient heating element, keeping the heat close to the body and warming up the floors as well through passive solar heating. The fireplaces are designed with a natural plaster finish made with clay and natural pigments, a material known for its breathability. point of this beachy, open style family bathroom, with a unique open curtain system around the modern tub surround to allow for privacy and shower use, or as an accent for a more open airy feel. Skylights were added to the shower areas to create a sense of wellbeing and expansiveness. The master bathroom is designed as an extension of the master bedroom. The French influence is apparent from the mirror to the antique empire chandelier. The beach influence is there as well; however the bathroom is a modern design, from the elegant dualflush toilet, waterfall faucets, and eco-luxurious heated stone floors throughout including in the shower and walk-in closet. Outdoor Living Areas The home features all-new landscaping with a Californiayet-tropical feel, and includes a custom hybrid swim/spa that uses saline solution—a healthier and better-for-the-skin option than conventional chlorine. The efficient use of outdoor space is designed around an existing 80-year-old avocado tree, which bears the most incredible organic fruit year-round. The space also features an eco-luxury indoor/outdoor line of concrete and stainless steel furniture. The zinc roof, an energy saving feature, holds a small array of photovoltaic solar panels, the investment that practically negates the concept of an energy bill. Its capacity is more than 2 KWH of energy, which covers most of the electric bill. Overall, this home evokes eco-luxury style and a healthy living lifestyle without compromise.

likes to think that he naturally fell into the role of a chef. Once he began working in restaurants, he realized how much he enjoyed being in a professional kitchen—as well as leading the kitchen. “I worked my way up to my current position. I come from a family of great cooks, so I guess it’s in my blood,” he recalled. “Today, my philosophy as a chef is to use the freshest ingredients available and incorporate tried-and-true cooking techniques.” Great starts to your dinner include a classic crab and lobster bisque with tarragon crème fraîche, a grilled octopus and asparagus salad with green goddess dressing and Suzie’s Farm greens, and the day boat scallop and beef short rib with vanilla-cauliflower purée and huckleberry sauce. The Southern twists available on the menu are a big hit with the guests. Don’t miss the sautéed veal sweetbreads with duchess potatoes and Suzie’s Farm mustard greens, or the buttermilk-fried quail with smoked mac and cheese and coleslaw. The slow-roasted pork chop served with gratin of asparagus and

cured ham and topped with peppercorn sauce, is a wonderful signature dish followed from The Grand Del Mar. Chef Woods said he feels that diners should be able to indulge a little when eating out, believing that the real key is moderation. He feels that to be healthy doesn’t just mean cutting out fats, as there are plenty of healthy fats that people need. He says some of the more classic French dishes he enjoys in moderation are a rich lobster bisque, a creamy béchamel, a decadent quiche or a great burger. “Our menu is broad enough that we can certainly accommodate those looking to enjoy a healthier lifestyle, and the reactions of our guests always bring a smile to my face, especially when they come back to the kitchen to personally give their thanks,” he said. “It’s one of those token-treasured moments that is very gratifying. After all, if it weren’t for our guests, we wouldn’t have this restaurant. Also, being a chef certainly validates my underlying love of food.”

ove over New York and Cannes. San Diego is an up-and-coming destination for cultural events that marry art and aesthetics. Three local film festivals are bringing the lights, camera and action to our city. La Costa Film Festival Carlsbad residents Michael and Ruby Callihan aim to carve a new home for North County’s creative community with the debut of the La Costa Film Festival. Held Oct. 24-27, the event is operated by La Costa Dreams, Inc., a nonprofit benefit corporation that aims to bring a new cultural experience to North County. The Callihans have successful careers in the mortgage industry, but each wanted to create an ongoing event that embraced their hometown while bringing people together both creatively and philanthropically. “What we do have here is an abundance of talent and too few venues to showcase it,” Michael Callihan explained. “I believe that there is a growing awakening to that need, not just for those who have experienced it before, but for our creative young geniuses who would like to practice their craft here.”

The four-day event will include red carpet gala screenings, stateof-the-art outdoor theater viewing, a taste of San Diego restaurant hostings, local microbrews and area wineries. Festival film slots include both local and international entrants to be announced in October, including an outreach category for high school entrants. Add to that numerous celebrities, filmmakers and honorees, and you’ve got an event that aspires to be a true destination festival. The event will take place at the newly-remodeled Omni La Costa Resort and Spa, a venue that combines modern luxuries with a nod to its glamorous past as an enclave for Hollywood’s elite. The property recently underwent a $50-million upgrade that meshes with Omni’s reputation for luxury and a boutique-style business ethic focused on community. “Omni’s personnel and management have been wonderful, and are doing everything in their power to make it successful,” Ruby Callihan said. In this its inaugural year, there’s no greater time for local business to be a part of what promises to be a great cultural celebration for years to come. Princebury Film Festival

La Jolla Fashion Film Festival

[continued from page 32]

Princebury Film Festival Lights, camera, transition! Starting this year, San Diego Christian Film Festival will become the Princebury Film Festival. It may have a new name, but its mission to bring the best in family-friendly and faith-based programming—as well as dynamic movies and shorts, thought-provoking documentaries and world-class workshops and panels—to the people of San Diego remains. This year’s event will take place Nov. 8 to 10 at the prestigious University of San Diego. Founded in 2003, Princebury Productions & Media specializes in financing, producing distributing and marketing high quality, storydriven message films and television programming, challenging industry standards and improving the nature of the industry as a whole. This year, Princebury partners with Jason Jones, a film producer, international humanitarian and founder of Movie to Movement, a global organization designed to help audiences find and support positive faith-based movies that speak to shared values. Jones was a producer on the critically acclaimed 2006 film “Bella,” which won several film industry awards, including the People’s Choice Award at the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival. Princebury believes changing the face of film begins with the filmmakers of tomorrow, which it strives to do through unique opportunities to high school and college students aspiring to make a difference in the entertainment industry. La Jolla Fashion Film Festival La Jolla Fashion Film Festival (LJFFF) founder and producer Fred Sweet has always been obsessed with fashion on the Internet. About five years ago he began to notice an increase in short fashion films.

36 FINEsd.com | facebook.com/FINEmagazines

Sweet told the staff of his modeling agency, San Diego Model Management, that he was going to show them on the big screen somewhere in La Jolla. Well, news traveled fast among the modeling agencies and quickly everyone wanted to join in the fun. “At that point North America’s first fashion film festival was born,” Sweet said. Inspired by what was happening in Europe he and the LJFFF have gone on to become the world’s largest gathering of fashion film professionals. This years’ festival took place in late July—with the gorgeous Mediterranean style coast overlaid with an affluent European chic design, La Jolla aesthetically rivals Paris and Cannes for breathtaking scenery and beautiful people. Inhabited by scholarly residents, La Jolla embraces a rich global diversity of culture due in part to a range of prestigious universities housed within its small borders. “The film festival needed a destination. I wanted this to be a world-class event. La Jolla has a good id as a seaside resort town,” Sweet said. The influence of intellect can be readily seen in its extensive number of museums and art galleries together totaling over 45. In fact, The International La Jolla Fashion Film Festival (LJFFF) is housed in The Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego, one of the most significant structures among them all. It would be hard to find a more fertile artistic estuary in which to found a fledgling film festival and time has proven this. LJFFF has grown in the number of submissions from 200 in its inaugural season in 2010 to over 11,000 entries this year. Fred Sweet took a leap of faith in founding the festival. He believed the region would embrace the festival and nurture it. What would have been hard to predict is the immediate success and growth of LJFFF. Within three years it would become the world’s largest gathering of fashion filmmakers. For more information visit ljfff.com By Joell Posey

FALL FASHION By Whitney Butler

Luxury brands brace for cooler weather with hot fashion.

Burberry Prorsum The autumn/winter collection from the

Brit’s Burberry Prorsum began with models

sauntering out to an Misty Miller’s accusative cover of The Turtles’ classically sweet song

“Happy Together.” It was the perfect sound

to accompany romantic heart patterns and classic animal prints—jaguar, giraffe and leopard. Oh, my! To be sure, the brand’s

signature trench coats continue to inspire

American designers who long for that London fog, and navy blue, black and camel are the

cornerstone of the collection’s outerwear. But even this international brand took some risk

in this collection with sheer, rubber skirts, tops and jackets. A chance to show off this fall? Absolutely.

FALL FASHION

Donna Karen

It’s all drama with Donna this fall, and

nothing plays the part better than jersey.

An effortless jersey body-dress with a sheer inset at the waist, covered by a matching

stretch jersey wrap, avoids being “matchymatchy” by celebrating the bold and

beautiful quality of confidence. Karan brings

a bounty of capes and shapes, asymmetrical and sweeping, to her 2013 collection. An interesting use of leather throughout,

and plenty of layers are functional in the season’s more loved palette: black.

FALL FASHION

Jason Wu

Michelle Obama famously wore Wu to two inauguration balls, and who would have

thought that things could get more feminine

than dressing our First Lady? In this collection, which Wu calls “Extreme Femininity,” natural

beauty comes into focus by virtue of synched waist lines, strong shoulders and immaculate

tailoring. Suits in black and white, a fur coat or collar, are all that’s needed to feel powerful, assertive and beautiful this winter.

FALL FASHION

Valentino

Back-to-school fashion is all tongue and cheek with Valentino this season, which is focusing

on daywear in a singular collection for the first time. The theme is incredibly sophisticated, drawn from seventeenth and eighteenth

century archeological oddities like shells, sea

creatures and taxidermy. These delicate motifs appear throughout in subtle and significant moments like the zodiac signs appearing on purses or a herringbone pencil skirt.

Sophisticated looks incredible this fall season in elegant and thought-provoking design.

Micheal Kors

After appearing on Bravo’s “Project Runway,” this American designer quickly became a

household name for watches, clothes and jewelry—the all-American, tan voice of

fashion. An advocate of American sportswear,

military and urban influences have shaped this color-blocked collection into a suspiciously androgynous story. Intriguing bits of

camouflage make their way into the collection, along with quilted purses and over-sized

sunglasses. Masculinity looks great in electric blue, taxicab yellow and couture that’s both easy and ready-to-wear.

City Ballet

San Diego Ballet School

San Diego Ballet School

City Ballet

[continued from page 56]

City Ballet have had professional careers as dancers. “Whereas other schools hire people who have never danced professionally—resulting in children who are badly trained from the beginning— we wanted to have a school where our students would learn from first-class dancers who pass on all of their wonderful knowledge they have received from other generations,” Wistrich explained. Twenty years later, the City Ballet of San Diego is known for bringing together professional artists from across the country and around the world, performing classical and contemporary ballet at San Diego’s premier dance venue, the historic Spreckels Theatre in downtown San Diego. Similarly, the San Diego Ballet is also a highly recognized dance company, known for producing some of the best shows in town. Artistic Director Robin Sherertz Morgan opened the company in 1991 to allow students graduating from her San Diego School of Ballet the opportunity to remain in San Diego and work alongside professional dancers, rather than be forced to look elsewhere to find jobs. Located in Point Loma at Liberty Station, the San Diego School of Ballet works to provide dancers with a San

74 FINEsd.com | facebook.com/FINEmagazines

Diego-based training center that offers quality instruction, advanced classes in dance and opportunities to participate in annual shows. What differentiates this company is its mission to “entertain, excite and educate,” accomplished in a “more edgy way than a regular classical ballet company,” according to Morgan. Yet, as lovers of the art, both of these schools are not only concerned with teaching dance at the highest level, but also with enriching their students physically, mentally and spiritually. From an exercise standpoint, the muscle coordination involved not only tones up the body, but includes other benefits such as muscular strengthening, the building of cardiovascular stamina, improved heart and lung capacity, lowered blood pressure and lowered cholesterol, as well as increased coordination flexibility, balance and posture. In essence, it allows participants to forget they are even “exercising”—and, instead, lets them dance their way to fitness. But the benefits of dancing go beyond the physical. Immersed in the sensual pleasure of movement, there is no room for thought outside of the dance, and this allows dancers to reconnect with their selves as they connect mind to body.

This, in turn, also makes dance authentic, creative and healing for those who do it, and allows these people to release emotion joyfully. “The feeling is almost indescribable,” Wistrich said. “It’s like you go into another place and become another being where your body is speaking for you. Where you express everything that is inside of you through your body. Basically, you are exposing your whole soul.” Through this type of self-expression and emotional release, one experiences a boost of feel-good endorphins that promote a sense of wellbeing, self-confidence and spiritual growth. Whether born with the inherent talent for dancing or not, the opportunity to perform these movements and steps, set to music, alongside classmates or solo, are skills that stay with students for life—and allow a very different outlook on life. And while the City Ballet and San Diego School of Ballet design classes to meet the needs of students who set their sites on making dance a career, these schools also create classes to meet the needs of anyone at any level or age. At the very least, it provides an exceptional way to stay in shape, have fun and make lifelong friends—no matter what your aspirations may be.

own palate) and not necessarily rely on some wine critic’s 91/100 score,” he said. “No one tastes the same wine exactly the same and developing your own skill is what everyone needs to do.” So how do you do that? There are essentially five steps to tasting wine. Begin by looking at the shade of color and the opacity of the wine. To get started, pour three different white wines into glasses and look at them. Then do the same with three different red wines. How do they compare with one another? Darker? More intense? Is one more difficult to see through? Think of their colors—does one look pale yellow or a rich golden color? In the case of red wine, is there a color variation at the rim when you hold the glass near horizontal to spread the wine and its color? There are color charts that you can look at to begin to understand the color variations that you may experience and what they tell you about the wine. For example, a browning of the red color at the edges indicates an older wine. After you learn from the appearance of the wine, you move on to its smell. You may have heard someone describe a white wine as having citrus on the nose, the smell of a rotten egg, or the smell of pineapple. In the case of red wine, you may have heard the description of red berries, floral of lavender, or cedar. Each of these smells and those depicted on an aroma wheel can help you to discern the type of wine. In some cases, they can help you to learn if the wine is “New World” or “Old World.” The more that the wine

78 FINEsd.com | facebook.com/FINEmagazines

is swirled in the glass, the better to smell the wine and discern the nuances of the aromas. The next component is to taste the wine. Everyone loves this step. Take a small sip (not a gulp, and don’t swallow yet). Briefly swish the wine around your mouth to coat your tongue and your mouth before swallowing. As you swirl it—also before and after swallowing the wine—think about the flavors, textures and body of the wine. Is the wine thin or is it opaque? Is it unctuous? Do the flavors match the smells from the aromas detected before tasting? Does the wine result in the burning sensation of alcohol? Does the wine have a bitter taste from the tannins? How long is the finish? Space does not allow us to get into consideration of swallowing or spitting, so just taste and enjoy. Now, think about what you have tasted. The first question to ask is whether you liked it. If so, why? Do you want to drink it again? If the answer is no, try to determine what you did not like about the wine. When possible, participate in a tasting with others. After tasting and exploring your feelings about a wine, discuss others’ perceptions. This can be great fun. The bottom line is to find wines that suit your palate and enjoy them. If you want to take your wine tasting to another level, see the documentary “Somm” or enroll in a wine tasting class—and then start tasting!

elson Mandela famously described education as “the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” For people who concur, it should come to no surprise that in San Diego, private and independent centers of education play an enormous role in the future of our society and global conscience. And it is safe to assert that children do not all learn in the same standardized way. For some, it’s the arts that inspire movement though creativity. For others, science will unlock the intrinsic passion of innovation. And still more will discover the world

through expedition—taking on humanitarian causes in an environment that begins to water these saplings at a very early age. However, it is with elite and progressive programs that we begin to see an alternative process to one of the most important human interactions: Education. In San Diego County, a variety of schools present families with the opportunity to find pedagogy that forms to the needs and internal desires of their children. The following eight private and independent schools present diverse options to help students reach their personal best.

“I wanted the whole world to be my campus… here we use an expeditionary approach.”

- Dr. Stuart Grauer

The Grauer School Grades 6 – 12 1500 S. El Camino Real Encinitas, CA 92024 760-944-6777 grauerschool.com

The “small schools” movement in the United States creates the opportunity for individualized attention for students to expand their educational opportunities. The Grauer School has established itself as leader, accepting a select 150 students for class sizes capping at about 12. This college preparatory school extends beyond the classroom to support students as they discover their life purposes. Through a humanitarian environment, leadership opportunities and education expeditions, The Grauer School upholds the vision that “graduates will become humanitarian, ethical and exemplary leaders.” Founder and visionary Dr. Stuart Grauer is a world traveler, a passionate educator and articulate expert on the matter of independent education. “I wanted the whole world to be my campus…here we use an expeditionary approach,” he explained. “Human beings are naturally curious. The Grauer School is constantly seeking spaces in and out of classroom, with individual students to provide opportunities so kids can exercise that natural curiosity and we balance that with our requirements for college preparatory.” Grades 6 through 12 have a variety of options for enrollment as 160 courses are offered at The Grauer School. In the classroom, the student-teacher ratio is low at about 7 to 1. For those requiring more interaction on a personal level, several student support programs are available through Grauer mentoring. The

3 – 5 Homework Program sets aside two hours Monday through Thursday for students to have hands-on interaction and answer coursework questions. One-on-one classes, where a faculty member teaches a student individually, take this a step further. A third option is educational mentoring that is available to students who want educational and organizational assistance, as well as the option for private mentoring. Only full-time students have this option available with limited enrollment. This program is set up to work on social, homework and tutoring matters. This school year’s tuition is estimated to range from $22,000 to $23,500, with an annual enrollment fee of $1,700 to $2,200. This includes most field trips, comprehensive college placement counseling and academic, athletic and arts programming, as well as the Expeditionary Learning program. Every student at The Grauer School steps out of the classroom for these twice annual, weeklong expeditions, one in the fall and one in the spring or winter. Activities include a range from hiking, backpacking and climbing to humanitarian work like building homes. At the essence of it, students are learning to communicate with nature, volunteer and team build. Through these excursions, students broaden their education experiences in the arts, culture and geography, as well as physical and social challenges, community service, and student reflection. The expeditions also provide another method to practice resourcefulness, compassion and humanitarian service, which are all a part of the Grauer Philosophy. On average, by graduation, students will have completed well more than 50 hours of community service and typically eight weeks of expeditions. Through its range of educational offerings to students in and out of the classroom, The Grauer School holds true to its credo: “Our students mean the world to us.” [continued on page 66]

“Open Hearts, Open Doors” symbolizes the promise of Santa Fe Christian Schools. It commits to honor students and their families while they are enrolled and in the time following. This also embraces the culture and passion as it aims to expand minds, build faith and enrich lives. The Solana Beach campus consists of three schools: Lower (kindergarten through grade 5), middle (grades 6 to 8) and upper (grades 9 to 12). Each year, the middle and upper school students select a theme and scripture verse for the lower school to adopt. Small class sizes of about 20 ensure individual opportunities for success. In 2013, 87 percent of seniors received college merit scholarships. Santa Fe Christian also offers a preschool in Encinitas.

Maranatha Christian Schools help students build the fundamentals for lifelong achievement. Students are encouraged to grow in multiple areas, including sports, arts and academics. Small class sizes, enrichment programs and technology integration support students from preschool to grade 12 and build the school’s core values: faith, honor and diligence. The school started a private school satellite program for homeschooled students this year. This flexible program works with families and provides athletes an opportunity to meet NCAA and CIF eligibility requirements through its sports programs. Non-athletes are also welcome to enroll on campus for classes if desired. Tuition starts at $7,908 for kindergarten through fifth grade, and goes up to $9,689 for high school.

Fostering scholars, artists and athletes, La Jolla Country Day School maintains its moral and ethical tone with its Six Pillars of Character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. Students in the lower school (Tiny Torreys through grade 4), middle school (grades 5 to 8) and upper school (grades 9 to 12) participate in small size classes for individualized attention. About 70 percent of the teachers have postgraduate degrees with an average tenure of 15 years. The curriculum emphasizes global engagement and understanding, and the World Language Program. Tuition for Tiny Torreys starts at $13,520 and $14,400 for junior kindergarten, while kindergarten through grade 12 ranges from $24,830 to $28,650.

Since 1909, students have been welcomed to The Bishop’s School community through its annual matriculation ceremony. With a 9-to-1 student-teacher ratio, the upper and middle schools focus on academic stimulation paired with moral and ethical responsibilities. The middle school serves as a three-year transition between elementary and the upper school. These students learn thematic approaches to coursework to prepare them for high school. In the upper school, students enter a range of studies to prepare them for college and their life goals. Tuition for the last school year was $28,900. The Bishop’s School awards about 20 percent of its students about $2.9 million annually in financial aid. [continued on page 68]

Formerly offering preschool through eighth grade, Horizon Prep is offering high school grades 9 and 10 starting fall 2013, with plans to expand to include grades 11 in 2014 and 12 in 2015. The graduating class of 2016 will be the first to cross the stage at Horizon Prep. Curriculum is designed to prepare students’ minds, bodies and souls, and strengthen with classically based, Christ-centered, academic excellence. Students rank in the top three percent nationwide with standardized test scores in the top 97th percentile. For preschool, tuition costs $4,050 to $8,820 annually, while pre-kindergarten falls between $6,318 and $8,820, depending on the number of days enrolled. Tuition starts at $12,300 for kindergarten through fifth grade, and increases to $17,520 for high school.

As San Diego’s oldest independent, nondenominational, coeducational day school, Francis Parker School presents a successful history of educating students since 1912. The studentfaculty ratio is 10-to-1 for the more than 1,230 students in the lower, middle and upper schools on two campuses. For junior kindergarten, tuition costs $18,000 and goes up to $27,300 for grade 12. One step Francis Parker School takes to prepare its students for the technologically advancing world is through its iPad Initiative; this school year is the first students in grades 6 – 9 will be required to use iPads to replace some course textbooks with e-books. In a few years, grades 10 – 12 will also participate in this 1-to-1 computing environment.

Tips to Stay Safe at College

Article by Dallas Jessup |

PARTIES

A great social life is part of the college experience but remember: Never put down your beverage and come back to it. Date rape drugs are prevalent on the college scene, and are impossible to detect without a test kit. Go to parties as a group, watch out for each other and leave together. Alcohol is involved in the majority of university sexual assaults, and a nice guy can quickly turn into a different and violent person when he is under the influence.

2

ATM’S AND PARKING LOTS

Cash machines and parking lots are frequent stops in college. Unfortunately, the bad guys see ATMs in less-traveled areas as a hunting ground, and the same goes for dark parking lots, the site of a high percentage of campus assaults. Make a very-public ATM your cash source, and either avoid poorly lighted or deserted parking lots or go with a friend. For predator avoidance, there’s safety in numbers. Try to avoid parking next to vans, or if one has parked next to you, go back and ask a security guard to escort you to your car.

3

Hall Cruising

A big trend in on-campus violence comes from hall cruising, where trusting residents give innocent-appearing predators access to dorms, sororities or residence halls. The predators then

4

Campus Shuttle

Late-night library or social visits are part of college life, but coming home you are often alone. While campuses may seem like islands of safety, they are open to outsiders from every direction. Either walk with friends or take advantage of the campus shuttle when you are crossing campus at night.

5

BE INFORMED

Just Yell Fire produced a film that anyone can watch for free online. It raises awareness of the many dangers girls face at college, and offers some avoidance strategies. Also included is a Dating Bill of Rights, to remind girls they have rights in relationships—to report violence against them, to have friends outside of a relationship and to help stop dating abuse. Finally, there are some street-fighting, getaway tips from expert martial artists any girl can use to get away from someone twice her size.
