Letter From the Pastor 2014 Ministry and Missions Budget

I want to thank you for helping us do some “catching up” on our 2014 budget in December of 2014. You gave over $458,000 to our budget alone, to help us finish the year in a very positive manner. Although we did not reach our budget goal, our total budget receipts for the year were 4.6% more than they were in 2013! In addition to that, you gave over $1.4 million dollars to Building Generations in 2014. When you add it all up it was the greatest giving year in the history of First Denton! Thank you for your faithfulness and your generosity. 2015 is going to be a great year as well. As I mentioned last week, we need to give as much as possible to Building Generations before we break ground later this year. I know you will continue to be faithful to our budget and to this much needed project! In His Love, Jeff

Wednesday Evening Activities Begin January 14 Wednesday evening activities start back on January 14. Dinner will kick off with Chick-Fil-A sandwiches at 5 pm. Find prices at FirstDenton.org/dinner. Dr. Jeff's new Wednesday Evening Bible Study, "17 Bible Verses Every Believer Should Know," begins at 6 pm. United, Awana, Women's Bible Study and Celebration Choir also begin. Church Offices Closed The church offices will be closed Monday, January 19 in observance of Martin Luther King Day. Kids
Preteen Extreme Weekend February 27–28 All 3rd, 4th and 5th graders are invited to join us for this Extreme Night at the Museum. Several Biblical characters will come to life as they teach us how to live the Christian life in 2015! The cost of $55 covers bowling, laser tag, games, two slices of pizza, drinks and a t-shirt at Strikz Entertainment Zone. Register by February 15 at FirstDenton.org/museum. Students
Disciple Now January 16–18 • 6:30 pm Middle and High School students are invited to share an exciting weekend with the First Denton Student Ministry in church members' homes. Disciple Now is a weekend full of worship, games, in-depth Bible studies, hanging out and a few surprises. This year's theme is "Go!" We will be talking about the what, why and how of sharing the gospel. Cost is $55. Register at FirstDenton.org/dnow.
Get Fed Sunday, January 25 It's time to Get Fed again to help our students lower the cost of camp, conferences and mission trips. Join us at Applebee's or either of Mooyah's locations on Sunday, January 25. At Applebee's, you must have their approved flyer to hand to your waiter. Download one at FirstDenton.org/getfed. Super Bowl Party February 1 • 5 pm • CLC Join us for a Family Fun Super Bowl party in our Christian Life Center on Sunday, February 2 from 5-9 pm. Bring along the whole family for a fun night of watching the big game, playing games in the gym and having a good time with other families. Please bring a snack or a dessert item to share. Pizza and drinks will be provided. Women
Lunch Bunch January 13 • 11:45 am • FH This month our theme is "Beach Party." A baked potato and salad bar lunch will be provided for $5 by reservation. Free childcare is available through reservation by January 9 at FirstDenton.org/lunchbunch. Missions
Celebrate Recovery Come and join us Mondays at 7 pm on the Student Floor for Celebrate Recovery. Celebrate Recovery helps us recover from any hurt, hang-up, or habit that we are struggling with by understanding that the only true recovery comes through Jesus Christ. Doors will open at 6:30 pm for a time of fellowship and snacks. Round Rock Mission Trip Meeting Today • 2 pm • FR If you are signed up for the Round Rock Spring Break Mission Trip or would still like to sign up, please attend the meeting today at 2 pm at First Refuge. This is a trip for anyone wanting to serve the Texas Baptist Children’s Home on March 17–21. Cost is $150. Recreation
Beast Feast February 21 • 5 pm • Fellowship Hall All hunters and fishermen are encouraged to share their fish, deer, dove, duck, hog or whatever wild game meat they have caught or killed. We will also have outdoor vendors from around the area at the Beast Feast for you to visit with. There will be door prize drawings and lots of great giveaways including a deer rifle as well as a raffle for a brand new 12 gauge shotgun. Tickets for the Beast Feast are $5 each.

Sign up at FirstDenton.org/chili There will be a chili and cornbread contest. All men who want to enter the contest are encouraged to bring a pot of chili and/or cornbread. Women are invited to attend the event but are not eligible for the chili and cornbread contest. This year's guest speaker will be Charles Thornton. Charles is a great entertainer who does all kinds of impersonations and impressions. The event is free.
