une is one of my favorite months of the year. School comes to an end, summer begins, there is Father’s Day, my Birthday (June 20 in case you are interested!), and Vacation Bible School, which I think is the greatest week of the year at First Denton. June 17-21 hundreds of children will fill the classrooms and hallways of our building to have a great time and learn about God’s love for them. We need lots of volunteers to share God’s love with those children. I promise you will be blessed by serving at VBS. If you haven’t signed up yet, be sure to contact Chris Barfield ASAP and he will get you plugged in to the greatest week of the year. June also means mission trips. We have groups traveling to Haiti and Key West, Florida this month. Please pray for our missionaries as they go to these places around the globe and share Jesus with those who need to hear the Good News. June comes to a close with our annual Celebrate America services at 9:30 and 11 am on June 30. This is always a highlight of the summer as Keith McGee and our Music & Worship Ministry help us to celebrate our freedom as a country. You won’t want to miss that day and don’t forget to invite your friends!

Even though summer is here, it can still be in the 60s at night. Right now you have the opportunity to show Christ to someone by helping them stay warm at night. Your donations can be accepted at the “Coats for Christ” drop box in the main foyer or in the church office.

Baptist General Convention of Texas

The Annual Convention is held each year so Texas Baptist can voice their opinions on a wide range of convention issues and leadership. This year’s convention is called “The Gathering.” It will combine the Convention of Texas Baptists, Hispanic Baptist Convention, the African-American Fellowship and our other ethnic and cultural partners. The convention will be held at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio from July 14-17. Please contact the church office at 940.382.2577 if you would like to be a messenger.

We are excited about a church-wide spiritual growth campaign called What on Earth Am I Here For? We are prayerfully seeking Host Homes where groups will meet to go through this six-week Bible study beginning the week of September 15. Our hope is to have home groups spread all across our city that will watch and discuss a weekly 20 minute video teaching session with Pastor Rick Warren, the author of What on Earth Am I Here For? All of Dr. Jeff’s sermons, the weekly readings, and the home group studies will be based on the book. We will have these books available for purchase in the near future. If you would be willing to host a group in your home, please contact Jeff Dooley at jeffd@firstdenton.org. Don’t miss an opportunity to reach out to the community through this all church spiritual growth campaign. BEACON

Following Christ: How to Become a Christian We joyfully share this information with you in anticipation of meeting you personally. Whether you are new to the community or have been here awhile, we have a place for you. But even more importantly, God has a place for you and wants to change your life! If you want to accept Christ as your Savior and have certainty of eternal life, then pray this prayer from your heart: “Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner and have displeased You in many ways. I believe You died for my sin and only through faith in Your death and resurrection can I be forgiven. I want to turn from my sin and ask you to come into my life as my Savior and Lord. From this day on, I will follow You by living a life that pleases You. Thank You, Lord Jesus, for saving me. Amen.” After you have received Jesus Christ into your life, tell a Christian friend about the important decision you have made. Follow Christ in believer’s baptism and church membership. Grow in faith and enjoy new friends in Christ by becoming part of His church and attending the Bible study class the church has just for you. You’ll find others who will love and support you.
