atchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education Diploma of Education Support Indigenous student Kerri-Anne Butler was presented with the Education Admin Award recently at The Barkly Golden Heart Awards, Tennant Creek. It was a great public event for Tennant Creek and the Barkly region to recognise hard-working individuals and to promote community involvement. At the awards ceremony, Kerri was also nominated in two categories: Education Admin Support and The Hero. Also, she is recently appointed as Batchelor Council representative.
The Northern Territory Government saluted the work done by volunteers and community leaders in Tennant Creek by sponsoring this year’s Golden Heart Awards. “The Barkly Golden Heart Awards are a chance to recognise the huge contribution made by a whole range of leaders in the Barkly and I am proud to be supporting this great community event. “The gala event in Tennant Creek celebrated the achievements and community spirit of the Barkly region. “A range of awards were presented on the night to leading lights in the community for their efforts in business, volunteering, sports and health.
“I am always impressed by the time these people give up to help their community. Support for the Awards has been growing steadily for the past two years with increasing recognition among the community and local business. “The Barkly is going from strength to strength and these are the people who are building this community from the ground up. “The NT Government’s grant assisted in staging the event, and covering the costs of trophies, catering, hall decoration and local entertainment.” Chief Minister Adam Giles said. Batchelor Institute would like to congratulate Kerri-Anne on her achievement and welcomes her to the Batchelor Institute Council.
