ACPA puts Music and Dance in spotlight at Brisbane Powerhouse

T
he Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts (ACPA) is about to hit the high notes yet again in a season at the Visy Theatre, Brisbane Powerhouse with their next MUST SEE performance offering. This time the Music and Dance Departments join force in VoxOnyx and Triad a Music and Dance Double Bill. The first half of the Double Bill is VoxOnyx - Sounds and Words of Strength, Courage, Perseverance and Wisdom – the voice of the black crystal. In this enthralling theatrical, cabaret concert the Music Department Diploma and
Advanced Diploma students explore the meaning of the black onyx crystal (Strength, Courage, Perseverance and Wisdom) using the music of such artists as Kate Bush, India Arie, Bob Marley and Sarah MacLauchlan the performers seamlessly mash live music and self realisation into a concoction to build a dream on. The second chapter of the Double Bill is Triad. Triad is the dance renderings of renowned Australian performers /choreographers Brian Lucas, Sunday Lucia and Uncle Albert David. Working with ACPAs Cert 4, Diploma and Advanced Diploma Dance students these three unique and respected choreographers approach dance from three different angles utilising
a triad of vision to mould and shape these exciting emerging dancers to produce dance in triplicate. ACPA is committed to the development of indigenous performing artists and is passionate about helping emerging indigenous artists develop the skills, expertise and practical experience necessary to succeed in the Australian performing arts industry. VoxOnyx and Triad are the result of ACPA’s commitment to and passion and vision for these special young artists. Shows are on 23, 24 and 25 October at the Visy Theatre, Brisbane Powerhouse at 7pm.
