herbourg community organisations have come to the fore to give teenagers their first step into a career. Sabastian and Jalam Aubrey stepped into the Yurri Muntha Café in Cherbourg on Tuesday (August 13). The two Murgon State High School, Year-10 students were mentored by chef, Sheree Strauss, and four other coworkers. Ms Strauss said had the teenagers making pie bases on their first morning and planned to get them on the coffee machine later that day. “We’re not just having them clean or sweep floors,” she said. “We want them to have a real experience that allows them an insight to what it’s like to be a chef.” And you can forget Kyle Sandilands, John Laws or even UsMob Radio’s Chrissy Bond, the next big thing to hit radio could be Andy O’Chin or Shane Dynevor. Everybody starts somewhere and Andy and Shane’s careers may have begun this week when they learned the ropes from UsMob Radio veterans in Cherbourg. On their first day they learned how to splice, dice, mix, match and project their voice in a manner to sell goods for an ad, or an idea to an audience. “It’s been great fun,” the said together.
