Teacher proves its deadly cool to stay in school
by Marcus Priaulx
Education has made Stacy Martin’s life a joy. The new Cherbourg State School pre-prep teacher did not do well enough in her high school studies to go to university or a job of her liking. She instead did roles she found boring and had her “wanting to sleep from midday”. So Miss Martin, 29, went to
TAFE and earned a Diploma in Childrens Services before working in day care and earning a teaching degree over the next five years. She arrived in Cherbourg State School last week for her first posting in its new pre-prep class. “I’m loving it,” Miss Martin said. “There’s definitely no time to sleep here. “It’s stimulating, exciting, new people, new environment… everything.”
She is passionate about giving her young students the best start in life. “I’m proof education gives you the choices to live a happier life,” Miss Martin said. “I love the “It’s Deadly Cool to Stay in School, Make Every Day Count to a Happier Future,” campaign because I’m living proof it’s true.”
