Transformation for Moree sports facility

S
outh Moree Sports Facility will undergo a much needed upgrade including the development of a second sporting field, amenities block and canteen. Member for Barwon, Kevin Humphries today announced the Moree Plains Shire Council and the Boomerangs Rugby Leagues Club had been successful in their application for funding under the ClubGRANTS Scheme. “The South Moree Sports Facility will receive a $1,787,511 funding injection that will go towards the transformation of the site, which will also include the upgrade of sports field lighting and fencing as well as provide an indoor training facility,” Mr Humphries said. “The upgrade will enhance an already well utilised community asset and encourage more community participation in sport and recreational activities. “This is an important and very welcome project for my community which will be delivered by the

Council and the NSW Government working together. “This project is about much more than rugby league; it’s about improving social amenity and social infrastructure in South Moree. They have been rewarded for improving the quality of life for people in their community. “I applaud Moree Plains Shire Council for the quality of their application which saw off many rival submissions through the ClubsGRANTS process,” Mr Humphries said. Minister for Hospitality, Gaming and Racing Troy Grant said this project will revitalise the sporting
precinct, providing modern and easily accessible community sporting facilities in the South Moree Area. “This upgrade will improve access to sporting opportunities and facilities for the South Moree area, surrounding Aboriginal communities and wider Moree Community. “The $2,053,494 project will be an outstanding asset for the local community,” Mr Grant said. “The NSW Liberals & Nationals Government is proud to support projects that encourage community participation in health and lifestyle activities.
